  • whoa it's kinda old.. I thought it was like a 2010 product

  • Good keyboard but I hate that Justin biebur kid thing

  • Good review but there's just something about you that makes me want to punch you in the face

  • @CherryTopCat he does work with Justin Bitchface beiber so thats why.

  • this is my first midi keyboard but i think the pads are really hard! you literally have to pound one with your knuckle to get full velocity. its a real drag when trying to make complex drum patterns

  • please stop moving dude

  • what is semi weighted mean???

  • @hitthedeckstudios you know how real pianos keys are harder to press than normal keyboard keys. Semi weighing the keyboard keys gives it some resistance when you press it. Its more of a feel thing when you play. I guess you could say it gives it a piano feel

  • @bllky Also, on real pianos the lower keys are harder to press, while the high keys are lighter.

  • @hitthedeckstudios that it's pretty much between authentic piano feel and a faster synth feel

  • wait, do you HAVE to use a laptop to play the MPK?

  • @nirvana50325 well no, but it won't make sound otherwise :P

  • nice review b, ima get me 1 next week @tinyblueye

  • Can you connect this to a amplifier or do you need to use a computer

  • How do you connect the Mpk49 to a computer or laptop?do you need a audio interface or something? Thanks

  • can you play it live without software instruments, and if you can, are the "in keyboard" sounds any good?

  • Are the MPC Pads as bad as people say on the MPK25.

  • will this work with reason 5 and logic pro 9?

  • how are the pads? as good as most standalone mpc-drum machines? im thinkin bout gettin either an mpc1000 or this bad boy

  • @KosmikCharlie The pads are really great:)

  • @KosmikCharlie The pads are actually kinda sucky, they cant handle too much at once so you cant really go to town on them, but there is a way to modify it by opening it and stuffing some tape underneath the pads for better response

  • So, can a midi keyboard be plugged in a speaker and played by itself, or must it be via a computer?

  • this mpk49 how much does it costs???

  • does this work with macs and logic studio??

  • @22frenchiee Yup :)

  • I checked this keyboard out at guitar center yesterday. I was surprised how much weight the keys had. Very nice quality. They were more weighted than my upright piano. The akai mpk88 was amazing tho. I really had the real feel of a piano imo. I think ima save up for one.

  • work this controller with fruity loops ?

  • @XxUniqueRebelxX Yes it does :)

  • what software do you use for producing?

  • what krks are those? im thinking of getting some rokit 5s but am worried they area bit small. they look like 5s or even vxt4s? what do you think of them

  • @TheHughyg you should definately get the rokit 5's. ive tried them, and i love them. im getting them soon. along with the krk ergo.

  • I have read people talking about problems using transport controls from mpk49 with cubase, I know you use cubase. Do you have any problems with this controller for Cubase. Second how responsive are the pads?

  • Thanks for the video. I just got my mpk49, and I'm using it with sonar 7 PE. But the only thing is that, I can't get any sound from the mpk49. Can u show me how to properly set it up? Thanks.

  • please: WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE SONG?

  • i like that while you spinned pitch wheel your voice chanced into a lower pitch nice

  • Okay so I have Fl Studio the program and I hooked up my AkaiMPK49 to it and I am getting soud and my Pads are working as well as the pitch bend,Arpeggiator,Latch but mt Modulator wont work or my Knobs or Faders is it because I haven't hooked up the program yet or what? :/

  • @ToxicXRaver hi man, you ned to map them that's all go on FL guru there is very simple video to do that on fl studio realesed few days ago

  • that thing looks amazing

  • @gumdrops27 mpk61 is out :) a little more expensive but im still saving up to get it.

  • @WeatheredInk You're gay cause all you do is troll around Youtube calling people and shit gay. Now that's gay.

  • mpk61 best !

  • what was that awesome music in the background of your video?

  • akai mpk88

  • you drown on in your monotone voice that makes somthing even as cool as this sound boring :(

  • does this ting come with sofware. i just wanna play some cool synth sounds and mess with the mpc

  • Adam Sandler

  • so with a midi keyboard like this you canonly play witc a computer around?

  • Plz put some WD-40 on your chair

  • which sound card or converter you use in your home studio?

    Ouvir

  • FYI, they make a 61 and an 88 now.

  • Hey I'm considering getting either a MPK49 or Roland Gaia Sh-01. Should I get a dedicated midi controller or synth for producing. Hate the fact that MPK is strictly midi controller. It would also be nice have a synth to create unique sounds and produce with that. And please do not mention the digital vs analog debate for the Sh-01. Anyone have any recommendations on what I should get?

  • They're rubberised for grip

  • I WANT THIS NOW !!!!!!!

  • It seems like everyone else on youtube has views for making beats I spend hours making mine and I don't get noticed? Music is my passion, I wish people would give me a chance ya know?

  • @SzymczykProductions Yea,I saw your vids youre pretty good!

  • @samuelkeshon Thank you ! Help get my music around send and subscribe I need all the help I can get man

  • @SzymczykProductions Will do:)

  • @SzymczykProductions i know exactly what you mean...jus keep grindin your way to the finish brahhhh

  • @SzymczykProductions An advice......from fellow musician..don't make music to get noticed.....make just for the love of making it........ :)

  • @SzymczykProductions market better

  • @SzymczykProductions It's not about being noticed, and if it is for you just give up. If you have passion like me, opportunity will always come to you in the long run. Be patient mate!

    -DJ Rhythum

  • @SzymczykProductions You have to promote yourself, and society doesn't except amateur work. It's gotta be good and something people will wanna listen to.

  • Please help, I have a MPK49 and Ableton Live but I can't use my piano keys to produce any sound with this, only the drum pads work... And they aren't that great. Please help!

  • @MiguelABRodrigues There's about a 1mm gap between the pads and the pad sensors, hence the lousy response. This is a quick fix, though - all you need to do is take the cover off, remove the pads, and add a few layers of duct tape beneath each one to bridge the gap. You can find a few videos on youtube as to how to do this. Can't help you with the key problem - I use an mpk49 with live 8 and it works fine. You probably just don't have it set up the right way.

  • @lagodacisne Thanks for the tip on the pads! About the keys, I just don't know, I did it all like ableton said...

  • thanks for this review

  • Whats good man...quick question. Im an inspiring producer and was wonder what kinda akai do u recommend and programs as well. Basically what all do i need to start?

  • @lilkingruss Just starting I'd say go with an Akai MPK. It has your drum pads, faders and knobs. Get a decent audio interface, either a mixer/interface or something like an mbox, a nice pair of monitor speakers, and a good DAW (software). Some common DAWs are Reason 5, Cubase, FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro or whatever you choose, nice pair of headphones if you'd like. One more thing...don't forget your creativity. :) Have fun

  • @lilkingruss If you don't want to go with the Akai MPK controller, try an Akai MPD26 or MPD32 which is the 16 drum pads and faders and knobs without the keyboard. If you'd like a cheap keyboard controller go for an M-audio keyboard midi controller. Some common decent yet cheap monitor speakers are M-audio BX5a or BX8a and KRK Rokit series speakers.

  • it can be used with sonar. it has midi and usb out so its compatible with virtually any software.

Attn: stop bitchin about his chair.

-good review man, helped me out

  • the chair sound fits with the backround beat, it makes sense

  • BAD REVIEW MEN......! STOP THE CHAIR

  • can u use this keybpard in sonar

  • what would be the best thing to teach me how to record to beats and what would be the best software/ equipment for doing this

  • if i only wanna record to beats by myself and edit it to make it sound professional what do i need to know and use

  • Can you use this MPK with Logic Studio?

  • @joe2689 Oh yea. and it is the ultimate combination!

  • thanks for the review man seriously it opened my eyes to buy this thing soon it has nice features that would def cut recording time .

  • This might sound daft but...Would the MPK49 work alright with Reason 4/5?

  • @itchydez yarp.

  • @itchydez Yup they work perfect

  • u suck the keyboard rules!!

  • @mrooster09 What the fuck is you problem? How does this guy suck? Because he took the time to make a video for assholes like you to watch? Fuck off, you little rat.

  • there is no problem, that guy sucks at playing, but the video helps to see wassup w/ the mpk, thats all, big cat

  • do u think guys it would be suitable for making progressive/trance music? in general electronic music??

  • @oooOODJCUBEOOOooo definitely . there are a lot of different controllers out there. just pick one your preference. this one seems to be one of the better quality ones as far a features and construction.

  • what's after touch? anybody know

  • @YoungMalcomX1 Aftertouch is a "Continuos Controller" MIDI message sent from your keyboard controller by pressing down, "afterwards" on your keys, while they're already down. Just "press down" a little harder and you'll here the "Aftertouch" MIDI message control whatever parameter it was "assigned" to. Usually it's the Cutoff FIlter Envelope and the sound will get brighter. Sometimes it's the LFO, giving you vibrato/modulation at your fingertips. Nice for lead instruments. Hope that helped. :)

  • CAN YOU PUT YOUR OWN SOUNDS OR SAMPLES INTO THE BEAT PADS? So YOU CAN LIKE TRIGGER YOUR OWN SOUNDS?

  • @Proclamationprod yeeep they work a charm they are reallllyyyy really good

  • @Proclamationprod its a midi controller. its what your keyboard is to your computer. it sends signals to the computer which plays the sound.

  • your review might be good but all i can seem to concentrate on is youre EFFING SQUEEKY CHAIR!!!

  • what monitors are you using?

  • I'm glad they make an 88 key 1 now

  • the drum pad suck

  • @hazard345 Ive heard alot of ppl say stuff like that about the pads. In what way do they suck?

  • @realcoolking95 i don't know to say it in english because i speak... but they... how to say... go under and stay stock under ... thats pretty annoying... and the velocity sensativity suck

  • Are you making music or do you masturbate on your keyboard?

  • rubberized

  • Kid.....please.....quit trying to make your voice sound deeper than it is. Its terribly annoying and makes ya look like a douche

  • @MegaJuevos haha as if the name MegaJuevos doesn't sound douchy

  • @MegaJuevos yeah i agree

  • r they krk rockit 4's or 6's?

  • i can't wait to get this keyboard!!!!

  • i hate rich kids, but na im just hating because i would kill for one of those.

  • @MrJSwagga330 its actually not THAT expensive

  • So this would be compatible for FL Studio riiiight????

  • @suggybear77 yep

  • yo use those faders for pitch control make some straight gangsta jungle beats put a amen cut on every key and every pad.

  • play the bloody thing!!!!!

  • You even try to make hot sounds with your chair !!!

    You are so SiCk! ^^

  • If you've been having problems gettin the drum pads to work with FL Studio 9 Check out the First OFFICAL MPK 49 Tutorial-How to set up with FL Studio 9(Pads+Keys) video.

  • "I, personally, don't use this feature. It's nice to have."

    lol.

    Good review.

  • does anyone know how to take the after touch off?

  • I would suggest FL Studio 9 with the large package and the M-Audio Axiom 61

    Keyboard and control system

  • I want to start making rap beats, but i have no clue about all the equipment. If anyone could point me in the right direction, i need something easy and around or less than $500. Any advice is greatly appriciated!!!!

  • why dont you get this?

  • get the akai mpk49 and try to find an mpc + eventuall some samples...u can have all that for less than 500$

  • @Starkiller1036 ffuck u bitch just bcuz u dont like something dont mean other ppl dont so yea fuck off

  • @TMONEY105C if you have a mate who can torrent the software get it and spend the rest on midi control pads like the mpk 49 or mpk 25 good luck

  • IS THERE A protools presets on that...i have 1 and i didnt see it in the presets

  • Protool is really not for making beats....even though you can! I was told that by the Akai folks! You have to find a VST that is compatable with Protools, then use the prest for the vst to have your MPK to work with it.

  • so i would have to get something that has a preset on the mpk or can i get like komplete or kore or fl studio etc......thanx alot too hommie..keep up the good work

  • SO I JUST BOUGHT AN AKAI MPK61 AND HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO GET ANY TYPE OF SOUND OUT OF THIS DAMN THING. if anyone knows how to load a grand piano onto it or if it comes with sounds on it already or what software i need or ANY HELP AT ALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED? Thanks

  • @TheJayCruise The MPK is a midi keyboard which means it does not come with its own sounds. You need a software or plug in to run any sounds. I recommend Reason 4.0 or Abelton 8.

  • @TheJayCruise Lolz...i see you did you're research before you bought it...

  • thejaycruise, i think mpk 25,49 and 61 are all midi controllers. there are no preset sounds in it as u have to use a software such as, logic pro, pro tools, reason or ableton live. the mpk61 is just a controller, it controls the sound the u choose in your software. try using ableton or reason for a start. cheers!

  • Comment removed

  • @TheJayCruise @TheJayCruise You need cubase, reason or logic. Anything like that will do. And you need some vst's (virtual studio technology) which are your digital synths which run from the software mentioned above. Kontakt komplete 6 would be a good place to start as it has broad range of sounds from rock to house music etc. Also VI.ONE for kontakt has all general sounds like grand piano electric/acoustic/bass guitars and synths. What type of music do you make?

  • its a midi controller, meaning it doesnt play any sounds it just controls software like softsynths or drums or something like that, i assume its usb plug and play so you should probably get some software on your computer and use the akai mpk to control it

  • @TheJayCruise you have to use a daw that midi controlelr is for controlling and doesn't have any sound....a workstation is what you are lookingfor...

  • what doses this thing do ?

  • hey, can u use it without a computer

  • i have the same midi keyboard and yes it is great!

  • do you need a mixer if you use usb?

  • thanks for this video dude, probably the best overview of this midi on youtube

  • what is aftertouch?

  • wats the name of his loudspeakers ?! dat with the yellow inside

  • KRK

  • i think that's a rokkit 8

  • @zenabisabb

if your talking about the speakers yes they are.......i have a pair and they really work

  • i love this controller, but im hooked on reason.. is this board compatible with propellerhead software?

  • @daylightbombings

i just checked my reason 4 and it seems they have no presets for the mpk49, but since this baby is General MIDI compliant, you can either programm all the keys yourself or might find a reason controller preset on the akai programming software.

  • Wow chill out a bit Cose17 you silly prat.

  • decent review. thanks.

  • Hello I have been stucked on my firmware upgrade for the Vyzex software that comes with the MPK49, seriously going nuts!!! 'cause once you decide to upgrade your past config gets lost and you basicly end up with an empty MPK49 I'm using vista sp2 32 bits, I have tried every single version and followed the manual as well tried every troubleshoot blog on the web and still nothing my mpk just hungs and waits for ever and never delivers the SYSEX,,,,, can someone help me please????

  • Thank you so much MDL

  • dude, ur video sucks....u pretty much just told everyone absolutely nothing important. we KNOW what the specs are, we'd rather see it in use

  • By the way, you were wrong at the beginning, Akai make a 25 key, 49 key, 61 key and a 88 key Models :)

  • @KeyboardKid00 They made the other one after the 49

  • @KeyboardKid00 this video is 2 years old you dick...

  • This video is about a year old. They didn't have the other models during this time. None the less, he probably would have gone with the 61 key version

  • your dumb. check when he uploaded the vid, like a year ago.. akai started adding more models. It started with the 49...

  • oil up your chair or stop moving in it

  • @easye1973

    haha

  • @easye1973 lol your funny as hell man lol!!

  • young adam sandler

  • I was going to get this one but decided to wait on the 61 key model I just ordered it a couple days ago, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

  • You look like Obama at the end where you smile^^

  • hohoho

    yes in deed!

  • it is connected alone with usb or it demands also the cable midi ??

  • usb

  • Does it work on vista 64 bit???

  • i was going to get this but the mikrokorg caught my eye

  • microkorg can't do beats though

  • Dont regret it :) The mikrokorg is brilliant.

  • lol what a ......

  • what does all sofware mean?

  • Trent reznor used this keyboard on his last tour I think. Must be pretty good.

  • Make this thing all sounds that are yiou making in ur beats???????? PLEASE ANSWER YOUR AWSMOE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • which is better? axiom 61 or mdk 25??please, it's my dilemma!

  • if u need the range, get range. if u need controls, get mpk
