Fiaherpayorkill u have no idea what ur talking about the sport is literally dying there's people in the MLB then there ever and Yankees don't buy all there plAyers look at the red sox everysingle player wuz either bought or a free plaayer
AHHHH, when times where good in baseball, Whitey with a smile, win or loose, 3 world series in six days, SPEED, some class and parity in the league, baseball needs a salary cap or will continue to loose fans every year to the NFL and NBA who have their operation and business in order. Never will forgive LaRussa myself for stiffing the Wizard, Royce Clayton? Ya, he had a stellar career Tony.
@stephl349 Then look back 15 years and the Yankees are in 7 of the 15 series? Maybe 200 million does buy you something? A-Rod makes more than some teams, good for him, but the sport is dying, too many clubs and players know they don't have a chance, only in the case of a wild card series fluke. Winning a 7 game series does not mean parity, when clubs are winning 90 plus games a year, and those teams change across the country over time you have parity. The sport is literally dying.
@fisherPayorKill You do have a point. The Yankees are pretty dominant. But I don't think it's killing the sport. Random teams still manage to have major success.
I know it was over two years ago, but I still find it funny that the NFL was recently on strike and the NBA might not even have a season. Business in order, indeed.
I was (and still am) a Mets fan, but always loved Ozzie Smith. He was one of those guys you couldn't hate no matter who you rooted for. The kind of guy you just WISHED was on your team
Garry Templeton won multiple silver slugger awards with STL and SDP and had greater range than Ozzie Smith and had a greater arm than any SS of his generation and was a serious basestealing threat. Ozzie knew how to charm people in the media and make diving plays and that's really about it. SDP never would have won the NL West in '84 if they had kept Ozzie as their SS due to the makeup of the roster. Templeton was a far greater talent and not the bad guy the media loves to label non-cooperatives
Amen! Finally someone who can see the truth about Templeton. He had all the talent in the world. Too bad he couldn't get it together emotionally. But yea he could get to balls standing up that Ozzie had to dive for, much stronger arm, and was a better hitter and faster than Ozzie, then he had knee surgeries...
@EnjoyTheBuffet Yes, Gary had the skills, and gave the fans the bird and Mr. Busch said get rid of him, Ozzie's game got better every year and a World Championship and three trips to the series. Gary, oh ya, what year did he go in the hall of fame?
Anyway, he rocks. He did this almos tevery year into his forties, except for I think 1986. He had hurt his rotator cuff and wasn't able, so he let his four-year-old son do it for him! In front of a full stadium crowd!
@bdonohue1 i heard it was the owners had it put in his contract to no lnger do the backflip in case of an injury , now that could be just a rumour ,seems to me he never did the flip again until the last game he played .

How nice. Little Ozzie the monkey does a trick for the fans to draw attention to himself. Let's throw him a banana.

To me it is not a Cardinal's season without Ozzie doing a flip. The memories I have growing up watching Ozzie do that are priceless.

ozzie is the best but this video, seriously, could be three seconds long. no need to flash his stats... he's probably the best ever with the glove.
