This information appears to show that students make more money, and will likely be able to find employment after graduating, but these numbers are misleading and incorrect. Sallie Mae knows there is a problem for these students to find employment, but they keep lending because students are not allowed to foreclose on their student loans.

However, when schools provid misleading information that shows students who attend their college are very likely to get a job, at a high enough salary to pay back on their "investment" students are more likely to be mislead into taking on the debt. It is interesting that some countries provide free education to smart students, they know that an educated mind is important to the future of the country. We will always need teachers, doctors, college professors, business administrators, scientists. If only wealthy people deserve to be educated, then the losses will be great in human nature. The system is depredatory for poor people. Then lets hope that in the future the lack of professionals will teach us a lesson. A change is needed now.

That in itself is the color of the skin. The way they find out how to calculate "interest rates" is definitely shady. Credit scores are a shady practice as well.
Pretend you're a loan official. IF 90% of people from a certain city have low credit scores and low incomes, then they are necessarily more risky to give loans to. You in your heart might want to extend some low interest loans to them, but your boss would not tolerate too much of that because in the long run, statistics catches up with everyone and you'd see defaults, etc.
It just happens that skin color has an association with lower income people, especially african americans.
I am African American and I completely agree. It just may happen that African Americans generally have lower credit scores and in turn pay higher interest rates due to delinquency or default risk. They do not ask you your ethnicity on the application, so I do not know how race would even be a factor in determining interest rate.

High school guidance counselors should be warning students about the dangers of student loan debt. They should be telling students that a student loan is like borrowing money from the mafia--you cannot default on the debt, even if your college education turns out to be worthless.
