This is such a great clip. I think it was so WRONG that a 'movie star' was given the role in the filmed version of "Doubt." It is going to be on PPV soon, can't decide whether or not to watch it....it seems almost disloyal to do so.
However... I read the text so skipping the movie is probably best.....yet I never got to see it on B'way...what to do?

3 )CJ won a US National debate trophy in 1974 for an original oration, "Traditional Tommyrot." What was that all about and how can I get a copy of the text?
I don't know Cherry Jones personally and I don't know where to get any of her previous work online. Trust me I've looked for anything from her stage run in "Doubt" but cannot.

I did not get to see 'Doubt' on PPV yet but I will either tonight or at the earliest opportunity. Everyone says that Cherry Jones' portrayal of Sister Aloysius is th definitive interpretation of the role and that her theater wrk is described as 'brilliant' and 'incomparable.'

On second thought......I am sorry about the above comments. I love this footage.....it is a rare and treasured piece of film history no matter what its source is and you should be congratulated for posting it.

The artist, CJ, apparently likes to play with images- the 2005 Emmy dress and the pose evokes the "Madame X" portrait by John Singer Sargent. Another set of photos, at a celebrity bowling event,CJones is dressed with glasses and oversized clothing to look like the cartoon character, "Cathy." Inside jokes on both?
Hurray for President Allison Taylor! Hurray for Cherry Jones (CJ)! I rated this video "awesome" because we get to see the famous actress' 'decolletage'-- also known as "cleavage." In this one regard, certainly she is superior to Holly Hunter or Patricia Clarkson (see another YouTube video starring CJ: 'The Breakfast'). Probably in this regard, also superior to Meryl Streep...

Great dress, hot bod. Gorgeous smile. That is why they are are called 'stars.' Plus, Cherry Jones is an artist. We want and need more work ON FILM.
Can be TV, film, HBO movies, Showtime, Hallmark After-school specials, C-SPAN. We're not that picky.

I like this clip because Cherry gets to talk about how thrilling it was to bring the role of Sister Aloysius 'into being.'
The 2009 Emmy interviews are great, but here she gets to be more open and expressive. Also her dress for the Tonys has a more plunging neckline.

Before you make any judgments, see the film version. Meryl Streep did a wonderful job as Sister Aloysius.
