  • This is my favorite Nirvana song

  • @VEVOTroll da fuck ?? please gtfo the foo fighters page songs, you're not worthy enough to be here

  • @VEVOTroll you trollin'.

  • This is way better than his new stuff in my opinion.

  • ♫♫♫I'll stick around i'll stick around♫♫♫

  • I LOVE DAVE SO MUCH

  • I'll stick around, if you don't mind? :)

  • Dave is probably one of the most talented artists out there....he did this whole album by himself. Drums, guitar, vocals and I think Nate did some bass

    Amazing songwriter

  • Geniale mamma appelsap op 2:57

"Hartstikke wauw, hartstikke wauw, neuk maar op, geef maar weg!"

  • it's too bad dave doesn't write like this any more

  • @gatslingerr Yeah, i wish he still did too.

  • my favorite song awesome here

  • I remember this song being on a Hot Wheels commercial when I was a kid lol

  • @Pasc9 Fuck, I need to see that commercial.

  • Does anyone recall the earliest version of this song that initially had the words (after "pawns you've gagged and bound") being "they'll get a gun and shoot you down" (or "they'll come back and shoot you down"), and that these words were later changed to "they'll come back and knock you down"? I could have sworn that I heard those lyrics in the original vid on MTV.

Any info would be appreciated - or maybe my mind is finally gone.

  • @Proxima888 I got this album... well, cassette, LOL... when it first came out. I have tried to rehearse it in my mind... the different lyrics you said. But no, I do believe that it has always been "pawns you've gagged and bound"... definitely never "they'll get a gun and shoot you down"... I thought about the "They'll come back & shoot you down" one for awhile... but I'm very convinced that these ARE the true lyrics... I remember my mom not wanting to get this album for me b/c of the gun, lol.

  • take that courtney love you biatch.

lol, dave grohl sounds like he wants to smack her fucking her head in

  • @rancidfan39 STFU...

  • @AmethystAnarchyAngel YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP, MOTHERFUCKER

  • @rancidfan39 besides, what did I say to make you say STFU?

Thats what this song is really about. Look it up on wikipedia. It really is about dave grohl getting pissed off a courtney love, after kurt died, she was always trying to use the legal system to drum money out of him.

I am not saying I hate courtney love myself, I am just saying that it is what the song is about

  • @rancidfan39 LOL "drum money out of him", because he's a drummer I see what you did there!

  • @rancidfan39 lol she really is a bitch, plan and simple

  • how does this only have 110431 views? should be 110431000!!!!!!!! I recently saw the Foo and they didnt play this. :( they did play this is a call tho. I had a boner the whole time

  • @iheartZildjian I understand your frustration but, hah, let's face reality here. As huge as they are today, not a whole lot of new fans dig in and look into their older music. Which isn't always a bad thing. How many youtube videos with over 1,000,000 views have you seen that don't have trolls, "Internet Heros", and/or blown-out-of-proportion senseless arguments? That's what I thought :) We're all friends here, lol.

  • I love the bass during the verses

  • Haha, for a second I was like "wow, the drums in this song rock" and then I remember, "Duh! Dave did them, of course they rock!"

  • It's so awesome how dave did it all XD

  • @betinho1126 no way, foo fighters just keep getting better

  • sadly it is mostly downhill from here

  • I think this is his best song

  • @MPG350 To me it is his best also.

  • Any one else notice the similarities between the beginning to this and Re-education Through Labor? Not saying Rise Against, stole it or anything. Just saying it sounds similar.

  • @numanumia92 its also in nirvana's Francis farmer will have her revenge on Seattle they might have got it from that

  • And who says the Foo Fighters aint grunge? :D

  • Original Foo Fighters!

  • Lol the chords for when the lyrics come in are the same as "Fortunate Son" by CCR.

  • This was when Foo Fighters made grunge music.

  • @BuzzL0ve Hey dave said this in his stuido 1 time when he was completely gone cuz he drank to much achole Dont tell him how to make an album he was in nirvana he was in the greatest rock band in the 90s they changed the face of rock music

  • @bigman10146 I say what I want. :p That is my opinion and you must respect it.

  • 1 word: footastic!

  • Hands up if you think the Foo Fighters' debut album is among the most important ones launched in 1995.

  • A big fuck you to Courtney Love, Bitch.

  • i like this whole song, my fave by foo fighters, but from 2:56 to about 3:30 takes the cake

  • @billytalentfan48 Your right it was, he wrote it when Kurt was still alive. let him hear it and he loved it but Dave didnt want kurt to use his songs for nirvana coz i didnt want to be the song writer for nirvana. all the songs on this album has been made when Kurt was alive he just recorded them like an year after Kurt died

  • @Greenday48078 I believe it was 1996.

  • @shroomraptor ok, I was wrong, it was 1995.

  • What the heck do all these posts referring to meth, coke and cheetos by Lanesomeswan and fawkgawdez have to do with this video?

  • @freethinker008 i know. Argueing like babies

  • 3 people are mad because rock music totally mops the floor with their shitty pop and rap.

  • @Greenday48078 1995

  • @Lonesomeswan -- well, now that is much more colorful. A shame that it took you an entire day to compose, but whatever. Most likely you are permanently brain damaged from being a meth baby, (or was it crack? or...both?) making you slower...so ill give you +1 pitty point. Nice try though. 4/10 at best. (pitty point included) have a lovely day, douche-mouth.

  • anybody hear resemblances to Kickapoo from Tenacious D in this?

  • @Lonesomeswan - how about YOU go back to your busted couch, over eat some Cheeto's, bury your shnoz deep in a pile of laced cocaine, whilst dreaming of being something bigger and more important than a YouTube troll fail. *dream big!* potato-face. (your comment was weak, ill give you another chance to post a better one. Come onnn, you can DO IT!) :D

  • Less talk about Kurt, more about Foo Fighters.

  • Drums and guitar are very nirvanaish on this album. Sounds awesome. I'm glad Dave found his own sound in the groups later albums though

  • foo fighters = shitty elevator music

  • @RadicalSyndicate right because their music is too good for an elevator

  • @RadicalSyndicate -- how nice of you to drop by and be an annoying cunt. Your comment = weak. WEAK! try harder troll scrote.

  • @RadicalSyndicate If Foo Fighters songs were on in Elavators I wouldn't leave

  • I cannot imagine Kurt singing this--it had to be Dave or Chris. The anger is that of unresolved grief and the will to carry on in spite of it. As Maskof said, it was cathartic. Iit was Dave Grohl's very successful attempt to say that he could stand on his own, that he existed and excelled outside of the chains of Kurt and Nirvana. (And, yes, I still miss Kurt.)

  • when this album came out I listened to it and imagined it was Nirvana's last album. Really awesome and cathartic production by Dave Grohl.

  • i don't think the foo fighters are brilliant but i do enjoy listening to them from time to time, maybe it's just how much of a mastermind Dave is

  • Foo Fighters - Sound track to my life

  • @CDPINK08 equal for me!

  • this song is so empowering...its the perfect way to say i know your game you got nothin on me so F*** YOU!!! HAHAHA. I love this song

  • This is a great song not just for Grohl personally, but anyone who is sick of the fucking parasites sucking you dry.

  • This is the Foo Fighters at their best.

  • @henricussecundus1154 funny that it's just Dave

  • @henricussecundus1154 and technically its just dave...

  • @henricussecundus1154 At "His" best

  • @henricussecundus1154 Dave Grohl recorded this and played the instruments by himself, although the foos are awesome they didnt really help with this

  • @henricussecundus1154 Correction: This is the original Foo Fighter at his best.

  • @henricussecundus1154 i'd say this is THE Foo Fighter at HIS best! ;)

  • @henricussecundus1154 this is dave grohl at his best

  • If Kurt were alive today, I don't know if Kurt would accept the Foo Fighters when they first formed. But now that we have shitty pop music that is overrated, Kurt would have approved of it.

  • @UFedward 1)you're not kurt 2)kurt loved catchy rock bands like the vaselines so im sure he'd like this 3)who gives a fuck about his approval

  • To my exwife , sincerely

  • To my exwife , sincerely

  • @D1M3NS10N11: Insincere? Fake? You gotta be kidding me. Kurt Cobain was anything but. And Nirvana was a great band...

  • I want a gun like that..

  • ill stick around this video(:

  • One man made this!! What a musician!!

  • @jimtheejim Dave "mothafucking" Grohl

    What a fucking boss

  • You know, if Kurt never died we may have never known that Dave is a far better vocalist and musician. Things happen for a reason and I enjoy Daves music a hell of a lot more than Kurts.

  • Stop talk about Kurt, this is Foo Fighters for fuck's sake!

  • I DON'T OWE YOU ANYTHING

    Awesome line.

  • Crazy that Dave played all the instruments on this album.

  • This is written by Dave Grohl, Kurt's writing was on a way polluted segue whereas this is poetic yet you get it.

  • Dave grohl is a fucking god

  • Dave has never admitted to writing a song about or for Kurt, some songs may have come out and later he realized they had some emotions that were linked to his friend Kurt. Dave wrote most of these songs while in Nirvana and some were before that... SOME of these songs were written without lyrics and the lyrics were written on spot because the studio he was at(really a basement) rushed him to write and record. Please watch an endless amount of interviews, meet Grohl, and watch back and forth.

  • i could too cuase i just did lol

  • Great Rock Song, This song deserves in Foo Fighters Greatest Hits Album.

  • Okay when my friend played this the first time over the speakers, with that first guitar sound, I totally thought I was listening to nirvana until I first heard the singing. Haha:)

  • This song is about Courtney Love's attempts at suing the surviving Nirvana members after Kurt's death- therefore"I don't owe you anything!" and other stuff. Also, there's a pretty accurate representation of the bitch on the music video for this....

  • the 1 person that gave this a thumbs down is courtney love

  • Great song. Great memories. I can't shake Beavis and Butthead doing this song on their show. 1996 was like 1969 compared to today and this entire snoozefest of a decade. Major props for including Pat Smear & basically reinvigorating & kicking his career into outer space. 99% of alternative rock musicians including Courtney Love wouldn't even know who Pat was or why it was cool that Dave helps out guys like him, Cronos, Tom G Warrior, et al. Dave is a great guy, where Kurt was an egomaniac. Sorry

  • @Antichryst666 not so easy to sing when you're dead dude...

  • the best thing about this album is that it sounds like something that nirvana would do

  • Dave Grohl said himself in a Foo Fighters documentary on VH1 that people keep asking him "Is this a song about Kurt?" and the answer is always "No." so stop asking. Dave is not obligated to write songs about Kurt.

  • this was right before the foo fighters started taking suck pills.an awesome track and album!

  • So, why wasnt this song on the Greatest hits album i bought? i remember this song as the first time i heard Foo Fighters and was really hoping for it :) Guess I need to buy this CD or favorite this vid and watch it daily lol

  • @XLibertyOrDethX LOL ditto!

  • When Nirvana ended, I never thought I'd hear from this guy again. Turns out he's multitalented. This was their first single ever and I remember it became popular fast. This band always sounded different from Nirvana. Although this song sounds like it could have been a Nirvana song. Also, this band sounds 10 times better live than in the studio. With some songs, 100 times better!

  • love it!

  • Not so much a song as a fucking PANZER ATTACK.

  • Man, I love this album, I played the pits off the cd back in the day. Thanks for posting!!

  • 1 person didnt stick around

  • @ericcarr21 LOLOLOLOL funniest comment ever bro haha.

  • @grUngEroX1991 you know it's true XD

  • This is a great headbanging song

  • Comment removed

  • great song.

  • electric ballroom. phoenix az. july 95. greAT SHOW. WOOL OPENED.

  • every dumbass on the net needs to realize that DAVE GROHL ISNT KURT COBAIN!!!

dave and kurt were bandmates and great friends, but kurt had nothing to do with the foo fighters

every video has some dumb kid saying "this song is about kurt" or "kurt shouldve been in the foo fighters" or some dumb shit.

  • @wargod28 dave grohl did actualy make some songs about kurt, ive seen interviews

  • The Nirvana energy is there but Foo Fighters came out swinging with their own style "I remember expecting Nirvana light when I heard Dave Grohl had something else going on and being very surprised by their sound." Hat's off to Dave Grohl for being a big part of two of the best damn bands ever.

  • The guitar riff in the verse sounds like later Foo Fighters but the pre-chorus and chorus sounds like every Nirvana song ever. Hell, even the verse vocal melody sounds like Kurt's phrasing. The bottom line, this album features many tracks that sound nothing like Nirvana, but you can't deny this one does.

  • I'm so glad I was born in the 90s, but sometimes I wish I could have been mature during the decade.

  • woah great, this video has no thumbs down xD let's keep it that way

  • @BlackTreeRomania Someone saw your comment and gave it a thumbs down.

  • @whisperienced dumb fuckers

  • @BlackTreeRomania Agreed

  • grohl wrote ever song and played every insturment on this amazing album..genius

  • amazes me how a complete stranger can create something so important to me and that i love so much - foo have many great songs but i love this one

  • This was the best album as far as feeling and tone. Great spirit. The other stuff goes down each time. I like the next album then I get bored each following time.

  • Cause dave did this whole album by himself ha.

i also heard that some of these songs were nirvana demos that never got released not sure but w/e

  • Shoulda been on the greatest hits.

  • yep

  • one of the great songs

  • seems courtney referenced

  • I could imagine Kurt singing this very easily.

  • that would be amazing

  • seems perfect kinda wish they would have made it a little more grunge oriented to get closer to what he would have sounded like am i right

  • @knules2 nah man It's great the way it is. Yeah Dave used to be in Nirvana, but Kurt wanted people to make the music that they wanted instead of everyone playing the same way and Dave definitely understood that and made this a Foo Fighters song not a Nirvana one

  • @wolfhound1589 Excellent point. Dave was, of course, a fantastic drummer for Nirvana. When this debut album came out, comparisons were inevitable. He's now known as as a great artist, and I'm sure Kurt would be thrilled.

  • @Antichryst666 agreed

  • @Antichryst666 defintley it souds alot like Nirvana

  • @3ace13 I don't know, the drums sound like Nirvana, but the riff is too intelligent for Kurt to have written it, and so's the vocal melody.

  • @daregularperson lol yeah

  • @Antichryst666: Word.

  • @Antichryst666 So what

  • @Antichryst666 Really? I see Courtney

  • @Antichryst666 and I can imagine Dave singing it better

  • @Antichryst666 Ya never know. Courtney could have stolen the lyrics from Kurt and slipped them in Grohl's napsack without anyone noticing.

  • Comment removed

  • @BrettDixonMusic I dont know man, Dave was making demo tapes where he played everything (as he did on this album), in the first few months of joining Nirvana, which probably means that he was writing his own music before Nirvana as well. Everyone writes him off as some guy who is riding on the fame of Kurt, when really he is quite an amazing musician in his own way. I mean, he beat out a lot of top drummers, mainly cuz he was more than just a drummer.

  • @scottelliottmusic i don't think anyone writes Dave Grohl off as riding on the fame of Kurt seeing as he's probably one of the best live performers and singers around, and Wasting Light is #1 on Itunes.

  • @Antichryst666 It's about Kurt, dude.

  • @TheOmniculture no it's not

  • @TheOmniculture It was writen when kurt was alive. So no.

  • @Antichryst666 666 COOL

  • @Antichryst666 Dave wrote all the songs of this album while he was in Nirvana. So it was meant for Kurt.

  • @Brachios12 You are sooooo wrong its hilarious.

  • @fras1788 Have you seen Back and Forth?

  • @Antichryst666 well kurt wouldnt of wrote this cause hes not dave grohl

  • @Antichryst666 Yeah too bad that he couldn't since he passed on.

  • @Antichryst666 Meh, this song has too much of a happy feeling for Kurt to sing..

  • @Antichryst666 What? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Kurt would have hated these lyrics. They are about surviving, moving on, bettering yourself...everything Kurt's songs were the antithesis of. The only thing I can say for Kurt is at least he practiced what he preached. Dave stuck around. I'm so glad he didn't spend his career as just the drummer for Kurt's band.

  • so can i
