I think the 96 Yankees win is tainted due to help from the umpires in Game 4 or 5. Atlanta had a huge lead, but a bad umpire call resulted in 3 yankee runs (when it should have been the 3rd out), and they eventually won that game.

The Yankees won the series in 5 games. The blown call had nothing to do with the outcome of the series.

In addition, the Yankees burned out their bullpen (i.e Rivera) when Game 1 went into extra innings. If the kid doesn't interfere, Rivera is not used in Game 1, and is available for Game 2 (the only game the Orioles won).

I reiterate, the Yankees won in five games. They even won ALL three games in Baltimore. This was not a close series by any stretch of the imagination.

2. The 1996 Yankees were a better team than the 1996 Orioles. The Orioles had no shot in the series anyway. They couldn't even win ANY games at HOME.
