  • I dislike this transcription. Liszt's version is much better. Much better.

  • @1854Sherlock

Check out the studio version for a better presentation, that one's much cleaner and more musical.

Having that said, I don't believe this is a valid comparison at all.

Liszt's was pretty much that - a transcription. The voice and the piano part all played by the pianist, but essentially the same thing.

This is a creative rearragement, with alternate harmonies, textures, and variations.

  • If you are eager to calculate the like/dislike ration, mathematically you are about to get 27/0=OH-SHI-------- (Time Paradox)

Hamelin knows how to divide by zero -- that's why his technique is so astounding.

  • Wonderful, Thanks very much, I wanted to listen to this song but never found a decent video...!

    ByeBye, Cristina.

  • hamelin vs cziffra!

  • @TripleRhu As good as Cziffra was both as transcriber and player, I have noticed that during the demanding and fast passages I dislike his heavy sound (call it banging the keys...). Hamelin does not have this affliction.

  • That was amazing, but that was really LIVE?!?!?!?

  • @OrangeSodaKing

Yea, the studio version is much cleaner ;)

  • these "cluster-like"chords (2:55-3:06) seems as if right-hand is dancing.

  • @mikatsuki10

They're tonal chords, not clusters. Having that said, they sound a bit more like clusters here, because he makes mistakes in the live performance ;)

  • is this Hamelin's playing?

  • Beyond human. No words to explain the power, the perfection, the talent, and the joy of seeing and hearing such a genius performance.

    Bravo, Hamlin.

  • Much more musical than the Liszt transcription.

  • Did Cziffra make an arrangement of this piece? o.o

  • Cziffra did make an arrangement. I have the sheet music but not the audio :(

  • Is the score that you have accurate? I have the original score by Cziffra foundation and it has so many wrong notes just like the Sabre Dance and Willian Tell.

  • Guess what? I've also got the Cziffra Foundation score. (so it isn't accurate) But when you mean accurate, do you mean that there is a more accurate score of this piece?

  • Actually that's what I'm trying to find out. I think the publishers can do a better job. I wonder where all those funny notes come from.. Cziffra couldn't have written those right?

  • I believe those Cziffra transcription were transcribed literally from piano rolls or something like this, which Cziffra had recorded. So, all "mistakes" and funny notes were preserved.

  • @pianist7137

Where'd you get the score for this? :/, because i want to learn this.

  • No, this is Hamelin himself! Just genius.

  • Do you have Cziffra's verson??

  • Wonderful - Thanks very much, BytheWay, where and How did you get this score ??
