Having said that much....I agree with the speaker that we should do all in our power to "save/extend" the quantity and the quality of human life.....and find ways to accomplish that that also conserve the health and diversity of the whole of our biosphere.
Further, if this tech becomes just another "edge" that the rich and powerful have over the poor and powerless; then we would indeed be on a path to hell. Money isn't the problem.
Though, frankly, I'm not sure that the quality of being human is so related to the quantity of time one has to live one's life.
People who are "self" involved "stick in the mud" assholes aren't likely to become transformed *just* because the are given another 20, 40 or 100 years of "life".
One could easily see how some individuals might become even more full of them"selves".
What makes human life qualitatively precious is not just time; it's *outside/inside* of time.
