  • What memories, I grew up just down the road & as a kid the Iraquios used to fly up around maroondah dam & return over our place. Sometimes the pilots would buzz us in the paddocks. They seemed feet above us, good times....for a kid, not so good for those posted overseas. Thanks for the post!

  • Hey all..Toad Massey here , was posted to healsville 1980-83, its ashame what has happened to the place, i spent many a night on roving picket polishing those kitchen, ballroom floors and that long pine verandai. Does anyone remember Roses disco's in the OR's boozer, with her homemade disco light and tinfoil boxes. The grounds keeper stubbsy and his little foxxyr lisa,Wally who ran the barber shop. Rembers those parades in winter with fog so thick you could not see where you were marching.

  • i was there in 1970 part of my nasho doing advanced cooking course.what a shame to see this mess which i recently went to see.i still remember the 3 iraquios out the front on the lawn and how everyone was so friendly.the government should be ashamed of the state it is now and the koori people who were given it back have not cared at all hence the tip.it was about 40 acres with tennis court and pool and beautifull homestead.mr brumby should be aware off this disgrace

  • the last caterer was Wo2 mick Donchi, sgt cook Eddie Nawrocki (pictured on right at 117)cpl cooks robertson, cple w mcphee, lcpl jones, pte cooks were robin pierce, peter clarke, niel scaife stewards were cpl darren copeland, cpl steve terry and his cpl wife, pte wilson they were the last cooks from then.i remember being on picket and one of my cooks set off the fire alarm and I got my cooks pants caught on the COs roses when i woke him up and tore the arse out of them my butt was cold on parade

  • i was posted there in catering corp from 1983-86 when it closed, i was at the tip when the trucks came and dumped the remains, I met my ex wife there and lived accross the road from the camp til 2008 stubsy would turn in his grave if he saw it now, I have pictures of it just before it was demolished by WHO ???i wonder

  • What a bloody shame, I served there in 1965 2nd intake of NS. I used to run into Healsville to post my letters to my girlfriend and run back to camp going around the Healsville Sanctuary. I remember running up the hill after a cross country run and I went in the wrong direction but still managed to come back and win the race! I Bought back a lot of memories came across this by accident. Thanks for putting on You Tube even though it broke my heart to see it like this.

  • verry sad to see a wonderfull peace of history end up like this, i have been to this place before as i live in badger creek, i never knew what it was built for when i was there but even though it has run down it still has a specheal feel to it, i wish the council or someone would preserve and restore this building

  • I did my DEO course there in Feb 1981. Thought I had marched back a century. We had to wear a tie or cravat to dinner! Nonetheless a beautiful place. Incredible that it could come to this. The main building should have been placed on a heritage list. Thanks for posting the footage.

  • I cried when I saw the sad state this once wonderful place has ended up in... How the hell did they let this happen? I remember arriving straight from Kapooka in 1979 thinking I had arrived in Heaven! I thought the OR's Mess was the Officer's...Silver cutlery and staff who treated you like royalty! I will try to retain those memories and forget about the state of decay that exists there now...

  • Sad to see it go that way. I was there in 1983 when it was tied up with the Ash Wednesday fires and being on patrol etc. I still remember "heartbreak hill" and picket duty and the 5 km run course. Good times, sad to see it in such a state.

  • I've lived in Healesville for 5 years now. I didn't know about this army health place. Where exactly is/was it? I am sad to say my son and his friends know kids who (and my own probably does but denies it of course!) unfortunately are trashing this beautiful town. That music is enough to bring me to tears at the best of times! I would've liked a bit longer on the video...can you also add the trashed pics again at the end? I intend to show my son and his friends that this is history they trash.

  • The camp was on Norris Rd, just up near Badger Creek Road if I remember correctly. It was sort of at the top of the hill. The gates etc were still there in 2001 when I went to visit with my wife and kids.

  • I live in norris crescent and it wasnt just the aboriginals who demolished the place, it was kids from all over town would go there drink, do drugs or none of the above but either way they're intentions were just to destroy the place.. If i get some more photo's of what it used to be like that would be great, i would like to talk to the council about fundings..

  • I have been inside there before to check it out. The Aboriginals made a dump of it I think? Sad..

  • Spent 5 years of my army years here what a mess i ran the officers mess for 4 of my 5 years there 1981 to 86 i was there

  • @rotoloc hi whats your name ? as I was there as a cook during that time??? mark jones
