  • frankel pissed all over him

  • Dick Turpin as we all know needs a lil cut to perform at his best but for me, he could never beat Canford Cliffs unless he had an off day....Frankels performance in the St James Palace was in my eyes impressive...He went flat out for 4 furlongs and if tom quelly is correct in sayin he was labouring rather than gettin tired, that just shows he's a class act....pity they wudnt ride him like the best horse in the race rather than like a pacemaker....Sussex up next for Canford :-)

  • canford cliffs has beeten the mighty goldikova at ascot to day hope you all filled youre boots because i did.now you can see the belief i had in him easing up towards the line again.next stop goodwood bring on frankel.wasnt impressed with frankel today but to be fair to the horse all he can do is win i dont think that they are riding him properly he could do with a bit moor holding up imo,if he tries that at goodwood cc will sit in his slipstreem and do him for speed inside the final furlong.

  • just adding to what i have just said, ive been watching frankel,s videos and boy you have to be impressed he is a fantastic horse and nobody in there right mind can say anythink bad about this horse.but i am a canford cliffs fan and they will meet in 2011 either at goodwood or york and what a race it will be but let me say this and i am not knocking frankel in any way whatso ever but he will not beet canford cliffs ,its hard to say that but canford cliffs will be a legend by the end of 2011 .

  • Canford Cliffs v Frankel...WOW

  • @Yedesauce no contest frankel a v,good horse.canford cliffs a super star make no mystake,frankel wouldent

    liv with him,

  • @thepoacher2010 Ya reckon?...Im a big Frankel fan and have said many times that it'l take a hell of a performance to beat him, which it will! I'd love to see Canford Cliffs go ther like like usual, on the bridle and with his turn of foot, power away up the home straight...cannot wait :-) First up tho - royal ascot - fill your boots, 6/4 paddypower to beat Goldikova

  • @Yedesauce listen my friend i have said that frankel is a very good horse but he will not beet canford cliffs i have backed canford cliffs in every race that he has run in so i no what he can do all i can say to you right now is look back on this comment when they meet either the sussex stakes or at york andyou will say he was right i am not nocking frankel because you cant but believe me one winner canford cliffs.

  • @thepoacher2010 I hope your right :-)...U obviously reckon he'l make light work of Goldikova on the 14th?...I have him backed already at 6/4, just incase Dick Turpin beats Goldikova in france on sunday...

  • @Yedesauce back dick turpin when ther is some juic in the ground, hope you filled youre boots at ascot on the mighty canford cliffs.

  • @thepoacher2010 - Your also comparing a 4 yr old coming into his prime (CanfordCliffs) to a green 3 yr old ( Frankel)

  • @TicinoParadise spot on as i have said frankel can take over frome canford cliffs at the end of the season.

  • Dick Turpin impressive at Sandown - hopefully Canford Cliffs can turn out to be a superstar this season. Can't wait to see Canford Cliffs taking on the brilliant Goldikova a couple of times later in the year!

  • yes according to the racing post entries for both Canford Cliffs and Dick Turpin, they will both be running as 4 year olds.

  • In the 2009 Sussex Stakes. Rip Van Winkle handled both Paco Boy and Ghanaati's rather easily. In the 2010 Sussex Stakes. Rip Van Winkle had lost little to none of his speed and turn of foot. But Canford Cliffs turn of foot was far too explosive for Rip to deal with, IMO. Canford Cliffs ran down Rip Van Winkle in this race much easier than the margin of victory suggest. No doubt, Paco Boy has an explosive turn of foot. But stablemate, Canford Cliffs turn of foot makes Paco Boy's look average. IMO

  • @GBeret83 Does anyone know if Canford Cliffs is coming back as a 4 year old or not. Would really like to know if anyone has info on that.

  • @Rodney81818 Yes both are staying in training. Dick Turpin runs on Staurday in the mile group 2 at Sandown

  • Rip and Twice Over both ran well in the Juddmonte International. But turned around and got galloped under the table by Cape Blanco in the Irish Champion Stakes. Now Rip's stepping back down to a mile to try and retain his Q.E.II title from 2009. Canford Cliffs has been a beast in his two run's at Ascot. Destroyed the Conventry Stakes field in 2009. Cantered all over Dick Turpin in the St James's Palace. I don't think Rip can beat CC at a mile. Nor do I think Makfi can beat CC at Ascot. JMO.

  • Lets not be too harsh on RVW. He pushed STS last year and was only touched off by CC in this race. He won well at York and looks to be getting back to his best. The BCC could be his race providing he is fit and well and not over raced!

  • @Jamie2462A, I agree with you that Rip look's better over 10 furlongs than a mile. I think he's a better horse over 10 furlongs. But there's two factor's that may trouble Rip if he goes back to the B.C. Classic. #1-How well will Rip travel on conventional dirt? #2-There isn't a colt going to the Classic that Zenyatta will not run down and pass before the wire. Period. She'll keep accelerating until she's past everyone. That long, forever C.D. stretch will only serve to help her do it. JMO.

  • I just don't see Rip being the colt to beat in the J.I.S. at York. It's not even clear if he's the same horse at 10+furlongs in 2010 that made that run at STS in 2009? Paco Boy is the only G1 winner Rip's beaten in a G1 race. Delegator and Zacinto in the Q.E.II. G2 or G3 winners. There's too many other G1 winners that will be at York. Capable of a big run. Dick Turpin, Cape Blanco, Byword, Twice Over, Cutlass Bay, and although struggling this year, Cavalryman. All capable of winning. IMO.

  • Most of the comments I've ever read concerning if hypothetically, Goldikova and Canford Cliffs were in the same race, most say Goldikova would beat Canford Cliffs easily. No question that just on experience alone, Goldikova would certainly be the race favorite. But I don't know how you could just summarily dismiss a colt with this kind of turn of foot so easily. I mean, after all, Goldikova was blasted by Never on Sunday in the 09' Prix d' Ispahan. A race she finished 7th in.

  • He's the best miler I've seen since Rock of Gibraltar

  • If Aidan O'Brien hadn't acted like Minister of Propaganda with Rip Van Winkle in 2009, I'd have a little respect for this horse. But O'Brien has constantly made this colt out to be the "second coming". Almost every big race this colt has been "talked up" for, he's flopped. The 09' Guineas, Derby, and the biggest flop of all, the B.C. Classic. Even Zenyatta herself would not come anywhere close to the all mighty Rip. Then, he finished so far back in the field that the lead pony almost caught him.

  • @GBeret83

I think Aidan is expected to talk up all the future Coolmore stallions. I remember he used to wear a cap with High Chaparal blazoned across the front, though I suppose they do go even further than usual with this one.
