@57Nadi - At Babadag there's a guy who stands at launch all day, videoing every single launch. There's another couple of guys who stand on the beach videoing pretty much every flight and every landing. You can go buy the DVD of the day from a bar there - you could probably pick 5 bad minutes out of 8 hours of footage any given day on that launch.

The objective of watching paragliding youtube clips is to learn from others mistakes... hmmm... makes me wonder even more so if I am on a suicide mission to take up this sick sport. I subscribed to Google's RSS Paragliding Feed, and at least once a week somebody around the world gets killed or critically injured paragliding. I have yet to have evaluated a statistical analysis and breakdown of all the different mistakes people make. Anyway, thanks for sharing.

@enzymeluv I have a seen a couple of surveys of injuries in paragliding and likely causes. As with most accidents it is usually a serious of factors that come together. In the instances shown I would suggest that the rough ground, the light winds and the obstructions in front of launch all combine - also the launch site itself appears to be a shallow incline which means even if flying a slight drop in attitude will bring you down to the ground.

Most of the take-offs are filmed in Oludeniz. A site in Turkey where lots of beginners (and advanced) come to fly. Due to the many pilots, also many accidents occur. Every year people get killed there. Site is dangerous with specific wind direction.

At this film, 90% of the pilots are too heavy on the breaks. To have a safe take-off you need as much speed as possible.

Indeed these are beginners with bad instruction.

Im sure its not the students fault making this bad takeoffs. WHAT THE HELL are the instructors doing ???? Letting them away in something that is not a dhv/ltf 1-2 (looks like a 2 atl in some cases) And sprinting forward "helping" them ?!? They only makes things worse. If I were at th same spot flying, I would keep my ass 100 km away from there. !

@paramandans this mountain is Babadag in Oludeniz Turkey. it is my home mountain. it looks very bad but it is not as bad as it looks. the "pilots" in the video should go and get a basic lesson again. when launched properly it takes only 5 steps to take off on solo and maybe 10 on tandem.

I agree with most commnts below this site seems to be way over rated or beginner pilots! The dude with th Zerbra glider was lifting before he started running, alot of uplift at the time. Scary placeo be for EP Students Site assessment would have indicated if it was safe, some of the rocks were massive and could cut you open! no one was wearing leg gear to help reduce damage to skin, Obstacles trees, posts, Rocks wer in the way for the direction of wind crazy place to be lol Enjoy your day...

That "Zerbra"-glider looks like an UP Pulse - one of the lowest performing and savest gliders there is. That guy managed to induce oscillation on a glider like that - that requires some serious incompetence
