  • good

  • if he really wanted to make it to her voice, he should have made it LESS clasical... eek! HA!

  • Michael Crawford sings like an Angel. ♥

  • where did you get the pic at 1:25, i want it and i want to draw it XD

once i have this song. im making a vid to this XD

  • where did you get the pic at 1:25, i want it and i want to draw it XD

  • When HP fans hear the words "Golden Trio" they think Harry, Ron, and Hermoine.

When I hear the words "Golden Trio" I think of this song!

    XD Sad, right?

  • This is like wicked clear for an MC video

  • This song never fails to make my heart drop. When the voices come to together its one of the most beautiful things. I was never a fan of Sarah, until my grandfather died and one of her songs was played at his funeral. Since then I have a new admiration for her voice.

  • bravo monsier should of been in the movie XP

  • Even though 'wandering child' is somewhat short, I can't help but listen to it over and over again! & nothing beats the originals :)

  • EARGASM.

  • this is one of my favorite songs i the whole play!!!

i want to see this on broadway again sooo much!

i never got to see michael crawford, sarah brightman etc. though...

  • Raoul does a lot more in this then in the newest movie.

  • I love Phantom....he needs hugs. and noodle soup. with noodles.

  • the thing is that michael crawford is the phantom. he laid the foundation of a great character and he played it perfectly. he's hipnotizing, scary, loveable and complex all at the same time!! thats why he's so wonderful!!!!

  • A swear, I have truly loved Michael since the 6th grade in 1992. I have always wanted to see this guy live in concert. But he always has concerts out of my state.

How could one ever be scared of Michael's phantom when he is just so alluring.

Mike inspires one to reach success in eveything they do.

  • michael crawford has a voice of pure gold i love this

  • Even when he's not singing- Mike makes an ideal storyteller!

  • I could see why Christine was hypnotized by the phantom's voice. Michael's voice is so hypnotizing!

  • Sexy and alluring, but frightening!

  • this is wonderrful:) thank you so much for posting this;)

  • i love michael crawford and the phantom of the opera! thanks for posting!

also, i have the phantom cd (of the original london cast) but this song is not on there. does anybody know where i can find it? or if i can find any other songs?

  • wait...i just realized...i have the "HIGHLIGHTS from phantom of the opera". darn.

  • itunes

  • man, i wish they had put all three people singing that bit in the movie!

  • i love the three voices together in this scene

  • "FilmRangers" right "freedom"...Michael was! I love the haunting, Phantom like quality to Michaels voice in this clip. He is the Phantom.

  • i do see what he means though Colm Wilkinson was in the phantom preview but that wasnt the actual show so much as it was some of the songs so it wasnt really him playing the phantom

  • That was awesome. Those pictures were stupendous.

Michael's voice during the "Bravo Monsioure" part reminded me of the voice he used at the beginning of EFX.

  • I love this trio! So beautiful, so full of emotion <3

One of the best part of the whole play!

  • i like the trio.. it's so beutiful!:D I wish they did it in the other perforances of phantom!

  • can u send me the beautiful pic of SB @ 0:58?

  • I love the Trio.

Where the heck did it go in later versions? D:

    It's what makes this song so much more lovable, for me. ;;

  • My favorite part is any part that the Phantom/Michael sings. I like all 3 voices but Mike makes me melt. He was the most sexy guy to ever play the role but still mysterious and slightly crazy and dangerous sounding.

  • "Let her go! For God's sake, let her go! Christine!"

    my favourite part!!

  • this song is what made me fall in love wth MC he is so good in this!!!

  • I agree. No Gerard Butler could even match.

  • colm wilkinson=valjean

    micheal c. = phantom

both amazing and shouldnt venture into each others territory, you know what happens when alpha males interact ( meow--- that was a lame allegory lol)

  • I wish this was in the movie instead, the fight scene was lame cause you know that neither character would be seriously hurt or the movie would be over.

  • Cont'd...I respect Michael and Wilkinson(just like them in different roles though)very much but I can't make stuff up just to make one look better then the other. I read the background to the show in a book put out by The Really Useful Group themselves back in 1987. I also have articles going back to the opening in London in 1986 along with interviews that Andrew, Michael and the rest of the creative team did back then. Didn't mean to sound snotty. Sorry if I did. God Bless.

  • Wilkinson did not create the Phantom as we know the character today "darinworld". Wilkinson only performed it once at Sydmonton which is Webbers Summer home as part of a workshop. They did the workshop to get early feedback from other people involved in theater and the show was WAAAAAAAY different then what it wound up becoming by the previews in London. Michael created the portrayal of the character that has become popular around the world today and also helped shape the make-up and costume.

  • No one can touch Crawford for this part. Even when he's speaking he exudes 'Erik'!

  • lol cant raul see christine's angel is protectiing her? she doesn't need him!!

  • i LOVE this part it is so cool especially the 'bravo meonsuier' part michael crawford is so SO good!!

  • Fantastic

  • i love the "bravo monsieur" part. i kinda wish they had that instead of the sword fight in the movie... and it shows off the phantoms cool magic tricks with the fire thing =) i cant really tell what raoul is saying when christine and erik are singing though =(

  • I love the trio and I LOVE how Michael sings the Phantoms part in the trio. He did an amazing job creating the character of the Phantom! Bravo to the original cast!

  • Colm Wilkinson created the Phantom......

  • no firat of all Erik was "created" by Gaston Leroux and on top of that Michael was the first Phantom in the stage show

  • I meant that the first person who played Erik in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical version- and therefore created that paticular stage role was Colm Wilkinson.

  • if u think he was the original phantom, ur only half right (he was the original phantom in the canadian show, but MC was the original phantom in the london show, which was the first production anyway...)

  • nope that was Michael Crawford

  • i love this soung i love roul :):):) he is so protective

  • i would like it to be like showing the oranal movie part insted of the pics :p

  • Ohhh god the trio<3333

    GORGEOUS.

  • oh my god... raoul's voice makes me giggle when he's like, christine whatever you may believe...

  • ii never knew this was a trio song! i only saw it last year...much prefer it like this!!!

  • Whyyyyyy did they have to take out the trio?! *cries* I miss it!

  • i hear you

    :(

  • lol Yeah I was pissed when I heard the new versions and saw it live! :(

  • yea same here i was look forward to the trio but it was still good but u no it would be better with the trio :(

  • Exactly :)

  • I love this song. It's my all-time favorite in the entire play besides The Mirror.

  • 1:12-1:16....wow...beautiful mix of the three vocals and the instruments...Andrew lloyd webber's genius probably could be summed up right there.

  • If u like it here listen to down once more/track down this murderer

  • I love this. the part when MC & SB are singing 'angel of music, i denied you..." that part of the song is so beautiful.

  • I am confused. Where does this come in in the stage version? I have yet to see it. What was happening here with Raoul? Can someone please explain. BTW this is an excellent video.

  • Yes, this is the stage version.

  • This is when Christine goes to the graveyard to see her father's grave. Raoul comes and sees her with the phantom who is posing as her father. Raoul is trying to convince Christine he's not the spirit of her father. The phantom is using his ventriliquism(sp?) to confuse Raoul, but Christine convinses him to leave.

  • so, this is when (in the movie) raoul & the phantom have their swordfight? This is the stage version of that scene. (but no sword fight?)

  • yeah, they changed it when the movie was made.

  • Sorry...have to agree.. .the movie was okay at best(in my opinion) but not great. Michael is an excellent actor and both Michael and Sarah are much better singers then the people in the movie. This video proves vocally how much better they are. I'm not totally dumping on every aspect of the film but I'd rahter pay the $100.00 dollars or more to see Michael and Sarah in the stage sequel(if they do it)then rent the film again.

  • I love this!! I love all phantoms! =D

  • Actually I used the right "KNOW" "ladydemando" and if your going to expect everybody to be perfect all the time in there grammer on YouTube then your going to be very fustrated! Almost every post I've seen has contained one error or another grammer wise. Besides I wasn't ranting and raving and I wish people would read these posts in a calm manner because that is how I mean them. Plus the last time I watched a Butler video and POLITELY said I wasn't crazy about him you guys tore into me.

  • Cont'd...I have know problem with the rest of the statement or opinion at all (even though, like you, I prefer Michaels stronger voice and more emotional performance) That first line just doesn't make sense and sounds obnoxious. I like a LOT OF PERFORMERS from different time periods in different areas of the performing outs. Plus MC is still performing so as far as I know so how is he "not from this generation". Why be rude to any of these performers.

  • if you are going to rant and rave over a comment about Butler over MC can you at least learn the difference between NO and KNOW

  • Actually I wasn't being a hypocrit because I have know problem, like I said with people liking either guy. What was hypocritical though was the statement that "truth be told, were in a new generation" because thats makes it sound like we can't like Michael because he didn't perform the role in 2007 but yet it's fine to like Sarah even though she left the show before Michael. In other words there both from the same generation.

  • Cont'd...Michael your awesome!!! I hope people can act mature and not go on video sites of people they say they don't like just to dump on them. Worst thing is jealousy can blind you to great performances like MC gave in Phantom. LETS RESPECT EVERYONE AND WHO THEY LIKE EVEN IF THERE NOT YOUR PERSONAL FAVORITES.

  • Personally, i agree with you. i love MC. But do you realize that you sound like a total hypocrite after ranting like that at 'dangmills' for expressing her preference for Butler over Crawford and then telling everyone to respect each other's opinons?

  • Cont'd...I think your just JEALOUS of Michael because MC not only was nominated for numerous awards during his long run as the Phantom in every city he did it in but WON ALMOST EVERY AWARD HE WAS NOMINATED FOR. Butler did not receive any nominations for Phantom. Your not jealous of Sarah because she wasn't nominated for any awards like Emmy. Sad thing is MCs a great guy and why be jealous of him or Butler. They both have there own talents. And if you don't like MC why did you watch this video?

  • Dear "dangmills"...if were in a "new generation" then your statement was totally retarded. Since Michael and Sarah both did the show at the same time that would mean that they are from the same generation. If Sarah was magnificent then Michael was ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT! Also if you bothered to listen to this or any of Michaels other videos or bothered to watch him in a performance you would see Gerard pales in comparison and lacks MCs powerful voice, amazing emotion and MC LOOKS WAY COOLER

  • Truth be told, we are in a new generation. Brightman is magnificent, I don't like Crawford. I prefer Butler because he expresses more emotion and has a powerful voice, and he looks WAY cooler.

  • Comment removed

  • I never post comments, but I had to now...this is PURE MUSIC, Crawford's voice has near hypnotic powers.

Although Butler does have some talent, I'd take Crawford over Butler any day of the week.

  • Don't worry "Windgrace"...I agree with you, I think "debirugirl333" is just jealous of Michael and Sarah because they got real talent when it comes to singing and Michael was OUTSTANDING with the acting! Thats probably why they gave him the "Olivier Award, Tony Award as well as the Drame Desk Award and a few others. But lets all stop fighting and not insult each other or the talented people in this awesome video anymore. Peace!

  • I never say I was jealous, they rock!

  • When Emmy started lessons doesn't change the fact that she has absolutely no classical vocal talent.

The director is an idiot, that movie was terrible. The acting was so bad.

  • Me jealous of Emmy and Gerard?

    HAH.

You just got the idiot award of the day. Why the hell would I be jealous of them? They cannot sing or act...I'd much rather be jealous of people who actually have talent.

  • Windgrace, you just acting stupid that's all. Get a life please!!!

  • I 2nd that...Michael makes me very happy to! Tremendous actor/singer onstage...Wonderfully caring and warm man offstage.

  • oooo micheal makes me happy =D

  • So if you have nothing against this version of POTO then why couldn't you say something nice about the performers IN THIS VIDEO? Seriously if I went on a video of the movie version and said..."I have nothing against this version of POTO, although I do prefer the stage show", wouldn't it come off sounding just a little like I was trying to throw the stage version in your face or be just a little obnoxious? Michael, Sarah and Steve rock on this!!! Peace everyone and know disrespect meant.

  • I have nothing against this version of POTO, although I do prefer the movie.

I really think they should've used this instead of the swordfight. IT makes the phantom look weak!

  • Only the london cast does the trio on this song i know it sucks i wish it waz in ALL of the shows i like Raouls voice in the song

  • i love the trio that they sing. they should definitely have used it in every performance, including the movie

  • Not only that, but the Hungarian Non-replica version too! The video is somewhere out there in Youtube.

  • The Hungarian Non-Replica version also features the trios too.....

  • I asked the same questions myself, I don't know why they did that either. It seems they do it for certain performances.

  • Love the original version of this song as well. I totally agree with the comment about Michael being seductive as the Phantom. I got to see the legendary Michael Crawford perform this role and wish I had seen him a whole lot more! He was beyond AMAZING!!!

  • This original version is the best that I have heard yet; even without seeing Michael as the Phantom, one can hear the seductiveness in his voice and one cannot help but be drawn by it, even though it has a very frightening edge too.

  • i LOVE the original version of this scene so much better than the movie. but in general, i like both of them equally. except for sarah brightman, i dont like her.

  • The more original recordings I find on YouTube the more I hate the movie. Not that the actors were bad or anything, I quite like them. It's just that they changed FAR too many little things that would have been so much better if they left them alone.

    This being one of them.

I mean, I can understand why they would want to. It's a movie, they got more freedom etc etc. But, still..

  • Well, the other thing to think of is that it wasnt the actors faults, it was the dumb directer, Joel Schumacker.

  • Ah, my fault for using the slippery "they". I of course meant Schumacer (sp). But so goes everything Hollywood touches.

  • That was great!!! Can you please make a slid show for Point Of No Retren. I love that song! That would be awsome if you did that!

  • I'll ask my sister Christine, she's the Phantom Phan:) Thanks to everyone for all the comments!

  • @GDLR Wait..your sister who's the Phantom Phan is named Christine?

  • i mean picture!

  • cool!how did you get the 2nd video?

  • I'm not the biggest fan of these singers, but this is freakin AWESOME! I love the harmony

  • Dear sylvana. I sorta agree. Sarah isn't bad but she doasn't sing as well as she did back in 1988. I don't know if it is from over singing, strain or bad technique lately. Since it is the still amazing Michael Crawford singing here with SB how about commenting on Michaels singing-not Antonio Banderas. Michael sounds incredible compared to Banderas(who I like as an actor)and it's an MC/SB video!

  • when she sings with antoinio bondars she sounds like crap

  • omfg i hate her voice so bad she sounds like she has a cold!

  • "once again she is his" "one again she returns" etc ... raoul patheticisms :P the Phantom RULZ forever!!!! and Christine sholud've stayed with him :X

  • what is Steve Barton singing in the background when Michael Crawford is singing?

  • I love Michael Crawford. Best stage Phantom EVER. Panaro is right behind him. <3

  • The videos of Michael are great and it was even more amazing to see him live. His stage presence is something that know video can ever capture. Remember,at the end of the year we have the PBS special to look forward to and a brand new touring show for next year(with some great new surprises. His International Fan Association is great with people of diverse backgrounds and different interest. It's well worth joining.

  • Cont'd...If you all don't believe me these are all provable with video to back it up.I personally saw Michael night after night in L.A. sign every autograph, pose with numerous kids and adults and make jokes with the crowd. He also took off up the stairs by the backstage door in L.A. so a kid in a wheelchair could get a special picture with him. He has sent me several signed pitures and letters and signed numerous items just for fans and to raise money for children charities.

  • Sorry but Michael absolutely adores kids!!! I hate when people say stupid things without doing there research. I have several DVDs with footage of Michael working extensively with kids at the SCT in London( kids with terminal illnesses). He also works with the Lighthouse Foundation in Australia for abused and runaway kids and he had a terminaly ill girl brought into the theater to watch Barnum who died shortly afterwards. Michael was so depressed that the cast had to work hard to cheer him up.

  • I love this and the original London cast is my favorite(It is only my personal opinion). Michael,Steve and Sarah all sounded great together. Michael also did deserve every award he ever got for the role. He didn't just sing it superbly,he acted it superbly.I actually saw him do the role live. It is true, MC will have a new PBS special ready for airing by the end of the year across the country and a new concert tour with new material set for next year. Everybody save your money!

  • Thank you so much for your comments :) The London Cast is my favorite too, and Michael I adore him so much as the Phantom! He's so wonderful. That must have been amazing to see him live. :)

    Christine

  • okay... how come everytime i watch a phantom video, everyone is fighting about the movie and the stage show? just give it a rest. lets say that they both had good points and bad points. OKAY??? GOOD.

    :) btw this is beautiful

  • Michael is #17 on the best englishmen OF ALL TIME list. He is the first actor on the list AND 2nd singer next to John Lennon.

ALSO, Michael is doing his SECOND TV concert next year AND if my knowledge is correct, GOING TO TOUR THE USA!

  • Urm... I think all the phantom and christine (and roaul and other ppl) casts are quite cool, movie or musical. They must have some talent in them to land them the role and besides, the phantom musicals I've watched so far and the 2004 movie was just beautiful

  • No training?

Emmy had been singing since she was 7. She was in an operatic choir. Ok her voice wasn't as good as it could've been but she was young and the demand of the role was perhaps more then she'd done before. Gerard was naff and needed serious altering.

  • 5 days later, still... wow

  • Emmy Rossum sucks. She can't act, or sing for that matter. And Gerard was awful.

  • I'm an original fan of the show, before the movie. And I believe your comment was very wrong. Emmy rossum is amazing, she's an amazing singer. And you probley wern't used to having a bass as a Phantom but seriously they are both good.

  • Emmy Rossum, amazing? Not in my book. Emmy and Gerard both couldn't sing the roles of Christine and the Phantom without their voices being digitally altered. Neither of them have the training to sing the roles...I am sure there are thousands of better singers for both roles out there than those two that would have been much better than the movie.

  • i agree with u. rossum and butler were both excellent!

  • But you gotta admit Gerard was good. Remember, he never had taken a voice lesson before offered the role as Phantom. And his voice was not altered!!! Check the special edition bonus stuff... :)

  • wow

  • Emmy Rossum is a better Christine, but I agree Crawford is a better phantom. Even though Gerald Butler is very good. Emmy Rossum is a very nice person, for those of use who've met her. She's not a bitch.

  • i don't think michael would ever be mean to a kid. he LOVES kids. he's been known to respond to alot of their letters more than other (older) people's. i think i'll just say i'm 6 when i write to him, JK. but it probably was a bad day for him... this song is so pretty. he should be listed as one of the best singers in the world. wasn't he listed on E channel or something in hottest men?? i believe it.

  • How could Michael Crawford be mean to a seven year old kid? That's not right. Maybe he was a bad day. or not a very good autograph session after his Phantom performance. That's like Emmy Rossum being mean to a BIG fan.I mean afterall,Emmy Rossum is known to be a stupid insolent person.

  • "Emmy and Gerry" don't count. When did they ever get on stage and perform the actual thing? Their voices were able to be digitally altered and perfected which makes it unfair to compare them with others.

  • Emmy's voice was not altered so much...However Gerard did not have the range or the vocal capacity to sing many of the notes. His voice was altered alot and he still cant compare to Crawford.

  • well so was Emmy's. However, I thought Butler's singing was much worse.

  • I hate Sarah Brightman and Micheal Crawford...Emmy and Gerry all the way!

  • this is a beautiful play to go see. Does any one have a video clip of this song? with the brilliant Michael Crawford who will live forever!!!!

  • WHERE DID YOU GET THESE PHOTOS!!! I've been looking everywhere for pictures like these. TELL ME WHERE YOU FOUND THEM!

  • Hehe yaay, great vid and great song! I absolutely LOVE that song! Nice job; thanks for sharing!!!

  • ehh i dont like sarah

  • one of the best songs in the musical thanks for adding :D

  • Thanks so much! :) Christine

  • I love this video!

  • I LOVE Michael!!! He is the most greatest person in the world! Simply phantastic! I also wanted to point out the third picture where Christine is kind of leaning against phantom in a innocent helpless way. I wanted to cry and laugh at the irony! It was just so cute!

  • Thanks so much!! Don't you just wish that could be you in that picture?! (I would love to be with him in that picture! Ahhhh! I'd faint! :D) Thank you so much for commenting! :)

    Christine :-D

  • I would faint too! My biggest dream is to meet him in person! I wonder if he has ever been on youtube and has watched any of your video clips. Imagion that!

  • I'd love to meet him in person too! That would be so wonderful! I wish he could see the videos!! Thanks! :) Christine

  • Eh. I met Michael once. Well I didn't meet him, but I was on this line thing outside for like 20 minutes waiting so I could meet him and I went to go get a drink and then he came out. He was very...mean...to a kid who was only about 7...

  • what?

  • lol! My mom went to the phantom of the opera in with MC and SB! i am sooooooo jelouse!! Not only that but she also went 2 see MC live because he was like talking about his role of the phantom live and my mom got to see it!

  • OMG! I still <3 Michael like crazy! He is my one true love! Ok, the pictures were phantastic! I wanted to point out the third picture where Christine is just kind of leaning against phantom like she is protected by him! I almost cried beacuse of it being ironic! lol

  • Awww, thank you so much! I love Michael Crawford! He's the best! :) Thanks again!!

    Christine :-D

  • Beautiful pictures, as usual! Great choices. Only thing I noticed was a few of them weren't the original cast. I think I saw John Owen-Jones in there somewhere, and there was definitely a Brad Little near the end... It's when Michael shouts, "Come on Monsieur...!" If you put those in on purpose, then feel free to poke me with a stick, but I just thought I'd point it out. ^_^

I LOVE Michael's Wandering Child! He makes me swoon every time with those first few words. Such a beautiful voice!

  • Awesome video, bravo! ;0)

    ~Christine~

  • they said in this song Sarah sings an octave higher than Emmy, but here it sounds the same o_0 Anyway, great video..love this song~

  • Emmy and Sarah on Wandering Child sang the same notes. No different octaves or anything

  • im gonna have to agree, this isnt as pleasing to the ear as emmy and ger-bear lol

  • Emmy>Sarah but...Gerard can't sing at all. MAYBE HE COULD with training. But he will never play THIS role in the same ballpark as Michael.

  • Christine excellent!

  • Thank you!!! :)

    Christine :-D

  • I LOVE THIS ONE TOO. You guys piece great photos and music!
