  • Can it emulate a real piano?

  • @Greenie369 No it can't.

  • @lukeformw2 Why yes it does.

  • so do all these loaded on there or do you have to download them?

  • Nice demonstration!

Can you use the keyboard as MIDI interface?

  • @beatbear You Sure Can! There are proprams available to program this synth as well. I find this synth has to many submenus. overall, an amazing sounding instrument. Thanks much!

  • @acaruso36 Thx for the reply!

  • great value. i only paid a couple hundred and ive had the micron for years and still have fun with it. anything i have written started with this hooked up to a jamman loop pedal to an amp and from there the skys the limit

  • can you connect using usb to pc and record? if so, does it come with a cable?

  • @MIROSLAVSATANFAN no, you can't record from USB. Only midi connection for other keyboard hook-ups or for programming. There are two1/4 inch outputs for amp hook-up and for recording.

  • does the micron have a good piano sound? like if I wanted to play Let It Be or something?

  • @EgoTrippin311 No good realistic piano sound. but close. more like electric piano.

  • @acaruso36

ah man, i need a piano sound...do you have any experience with the microkorgXL? i think it has a good piano sound, but is it as good as the Micro is the question...i've heard mixed things

  • @EgoTrippin311 Sorry not experience with the MicrokorgXl. Try another youtube channel or go to korg.com. good luck!

  • @EgoTrippin311 If you're going for a realistic piano sound, then stay far, far away from Korg. They couldn't make a good piano sound if their lives depended on it. The most realistic piano sound from anything digital is Yamaha. However, you're probably looking for something related to synth. If such is the case, I'd consider a Roland. If you have the cash, I'd recommend the Roland Gaia.

  • @mangaka92 hmmm well i ended up getting the Microkorg XL and it has AC Piano, which with some added reverb on my gearbox program sounds good enough I think. Though a bit stiff, i need to make it sound like i'm using a sustain pedal. but i'm sure i can tweak that a bit.

  • nice sound.

  • wow! this is an analog modeling synth? some presets sound like wavetables on Prophet VS??!! it's true or my ears are wrong?

  • i have a band and were kinda going for an Attack Attack sound so im going to buy one of these for our keys player and she wanted to know if the keys are weighted. are they?

  • @ScreamAimFire6661 No, not weighted. at first i didn't like the keyboard action. but over time you learn to adapt. very springy keys. Good luck with the band Thing! have Fun!

  • These are all presets that came with the Synth when i got it.. I guess this day, was to make the presets sound fun to play. A new Synth always tends to inspire me . If you search Youtube again for the same synth, you'll find some amazing people on youtube creating some amazing programs and Patches.

  • are these all presets that came with micron? or did you edit/create these?

  • i have an alesis micron, and its the best music tool i have yet! and i have an acoustic, electric, and a bass guitar!! i started selling my stringed instruments after playing this long enough!!

  • Sold.

  • the two faders on the left side always remind me of

star trek original series´ transporter sliders scottie operated for "beaming".

what a phantastic sounding little machine!!

  • @MoveOverCasanova lol me too, you can also make that warbling transporter noise on the micron. Currently I am trying to teach mine how to play the base riff of the Dr WhoTheme tune but the sequencer is still disagrees with me.

  • i have a microkorg...my only synth..im sketchy about whether i shud get a microkorg xl, or micron...which one is simpler to use and program sounds and overall better do u think

  • @nigagila Get Real analog

  • @ColaberMilk real analog what do you mean, like a analog because those aren't cheap

  • get the micron, its pretty much like a mini workstation, you can make beats and sequence and its got some amazing sounds and editing really isnt that hard

  • @nigagila Get a micron. The MicroKorg XL is pretty much the same thing as your MicroKorg.

  • @the1337n00b not quite, afaik the synth engines are different: the old microkorg is based on the OASYS engine of the MS2000, the XL on the RADIAS. But I agree, the micron is waaay more flexible

  • Very good demo 5*****

  • The best Alesis demo video on youtube. I have microkorg XL and I think I'll add this to my collection.

  • Thanks Much... Its a great synth.

  • this song is great i love it well done

  • Thanks a bunch! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Who cares what the presets sounds like, make your own sounds.

  • i'm sorry but i find sounds of microkorgXL much better !!

  • @Cityangel38 why may I ask?

  • What's the octave range for this? Microkorg?

  • they both have 37 keys but have octave buttons to extend the range in both directions

  • THE ORGAN WAS THE LAST CALL! I am getting one for sure now!

  • That part around 1:00 sounds a lot like Kansas from either Leftoverture or Point of Know Return.

  • Im selling one of these if anyone is interested. Its brand new only used a few times so its in great condition :D If anyones interested message me

  • how much?

  • 300 euro maybe

  • $400

  • why are you selling?

  • i just dont need it. Ive already got a Microkorg and Emx and use them more

  • i'd be interested!

  • Why are you selling it? And how much

  • i might be

  • Gotta get me one of these.

  • Ha !!! I have one on the way. These little gems are so cool. Can't wait til mine arrives.

  • congrats on your purchase. you'll have fun! post some video when you get acquainted with your Alesis synth.

  • I'll do that. i did have a close call though. It wasn't until after I had won one from an eBay dealer that I learned the earlier models didn't have the keyboard split function. Thankfully the dealer carries both models so he is going to make sure to hook me up with the later production model. 300 beans NEW with full manufacturers warranty and free shipping.Excellent !!

  • nice and funny (the part with the church sound) ^^

  • can the micron be used as a midi controller also?

And would you suggest the Microkorg or Micron for Pendulum style music? (Drum and bass, electro) Taaa. Good demo!

  • not sure about pendulum but if it doesnt have a usb plug on the back you could buy a usb to midi cable then it would work

  • Hi, I play the keyboard in a Nintendocore band and I'm going to buy a microSynthesiser, and I have a question

It's really need a computer to be programed , or it can be programed whit out a computer?

  • You don't need a computer to program the Alesis micron. Its just makes the programing a little easier if you used a computer software. The micron has a lot of sub menus. It can be very time consuming. For me anyway. Good luck with the band & your purchase. Send me a video link if you decide to put stuff on youtube. Peace!

  • Im looking at this and the Microkorg for a band me and a few friends are putting together. Any suggestions on which to invest in? We are going to try a hardcore/sreamo style

  • 3:04 onwards = amazing =]

  • Thanks. I liked that part better also. My Improvising stuff at the beginning of the video was just ok. I just never know what my brain will do one measure or notes at a given time. Thanks for the comment!

  • I loved it all (in fact this video made put me in a really awk situation!) so you recon this would be better than the microkorg? any advice on buying muchly appreciated! your an awesome player too btw ;) and excuse my ignorance but can the alesis micron do the bassy and muffled kinda effect to the really trebbly clean one? thanks! =] and the one around the 2:00 mark is hilairious i love it =]

  • Nice! Sold my microkorg to make way for one of these babies. Impressive.

  • Thanks much! You'll curtainly have a lot fun with this synth! I Think The MicroKorg is Still A Great Synth to!

  • Agreed :-) The little keys on the microkorg were a problem for me but it sounded great with an excellent filter. I prefer the Micron.. and It's sooooo well priced.

  • I just sold my Microkorg and I'm waiting for my Micron to arrive! The Microkorg is a really great synth thought, the keys are crappy but I think the editing might be a lot easier on it than on the micron. For the sound, I'll have to wait and tlearn how to program it

  • can this also work as midi controller for reason and ableton?

  • Not sure . This Alesis Doesn't have USB Ports Just 3 midi ports. I think there Might be aftermarket software that may send midi data for use in Ablton and Reason.. Maybe some can help on another youtube channel or response to this comment. Good luck!

  • its a fcking great synth, way more than its price tag would suggest. get the soft editor and you'll be creating some tasty patches in minutes.

  • The sound on the Micron is pretty good.., and as with any analogue modeling synth the real power is in creating your own patches.., but IMO the layout on the Micron is just rubbish. Alesis didn't do a very good job with the design layout. Not enough knobs.., and the pitch wheel is just jacked in that position. Again.., decent sounds, but very poor layout and design.

  • Hey, thanks for your insight. But, For the price and sound, you can't go wrong. I agree the overall design wasn't Alesis best layout. The pitch wheel is great for me. The action on the keyboard is just a little to springy for my taste. Buy Hey, $319 not Bad deal. I use my micron mostly as a midi controler for my Access Virus Ti Polar set-up.

  • I agree that for the price it's a great little synth/vocoder :) For me though..., the layout just didn't cut it. I liked the patches, but I wasn't pleased with the user interface. I'm going to get the Novation XioSynth.., lots of knobs, great layout, good patches, KILLER midi capabilities, semi weighted keys, X/Y pad, and more. Vocoder for me is not needed.

  • hahahahah the eygiptian

  • after the egyptian thing, that sound was sweet. good job mate

  • As a Micron owner, I'd recommend the Alesis Ion if you want full-sized keyboard. It has all the knobs and sliders, larger display than Micron. But the Micron has the same exact engine as Ion, with more onboard effects. It's a trade-off in size, really.

  • size and control.

  • could you recommend any 61 key synths that are in the same price range of the Micron? Possibly with virtual analog sound?

  • I recommend a Alesis Ion, I have one and it's BIG! All the knobs and stuff - no sliders! It's Virtual analog and has a big keyboard. The micron has more effects than the Ion, but the Ion has a bigger screen and other nice things like a larger keyboard. The choice is yours!

  • Hi ive been playing the piano now for around 7 years and im 12. Me and my friends formed a metal band and i was looking for a synth. Would this be good? Does it have even mildly weighted keys?

  • Hello, The Micron is a simple design & a great sounding synth. For a metal band you might want to consider a 61 keys synth or more. But it all depends on your playing abilities and wants and needs and also A Budget($). The micron has a a medium spring action keys. Not semi weighted. Personally,I don't like the feel of the key action much. But not a big deal. Good luck with your new band. Subscribe to my channel. I'll be adding more synth demos soon.

  • Im 12 also, I would recommend the Korg R3. I have one. The keys aren't waited but they feel really good. You could also get a midi keyboard with more keys to expand the amount of keys you have. M-Audio is good for midi keyboards.

  • Hello there

I really like the sound of your programing there man, i was wondering if you've tried the Korg R3, because i hjaven had the chance to do so in a store or so, but it seems (through the internet) that the micron has more of a true analog sound...could you please help me out? :s

  • Haven't had the chance to test the Korg R3. The Korg R3 and Micron are totally differnt Synth engines. Anyway, the Micron, I was using the presets patches only. no editing on my part. I'll be adding more videos soon of the Micron. Stay tuned.

  • sounds like pink floyd at the begining

  • Awesome skills

  • Thanks CheeseBubble! Also, thanks for clarifying the differnces between Micron and Xiosynth!

  • yea,

I know the Micron, Xiosynth, and MicroKORG pretty well.

  • so if you could choose between a micron and microkorg for a beginner, which would it be?

  • Micron, it can do much more than a microkorg, you'll learn more, plus it has full size keys.

its easy to find the exact program you want.

the manual tells you everything you need to know.

  • ok good to know. thanks, sport

  • micron or xiosynth? pls help. thanks

  • Micron, the Xiosynth doesnt have the same capabilities as a micron, the micron is almost a workstation. the micron has more keys which is a plus. the xiosynth is more of a MIDI controller-Synth hybrid. I would recommend the Micron over it. plus the micron has a vocoder, those are always fun.

  • so do you need an ion to program a micron or is there software that you can make micron presets with?

  • Hi!

    Great vid..

    Absolute newb question but..

Whats the difference between a program and a preset?

  • A program is a set of sounds and tempos with

drums you can assign to the keyboard.(a Seqencer feature) You can split the keyboard with this prgram mode. Example: On one key you can just have a drum pattern with bass and play a note or chord on the other keys. A Preset is a sound (Voice or Patch) that came with the Synth.

  • That makes sense. Thanks.

Can new presets and programs be saved? If so how much disk space would I have to work with?

  • im sure this is annoying, sorry... but im deciding between a microkorg and micron any suggestions?

  • well, I would suggest you get the Micron because it sounds great and it has many features then the microkorg. Just check out other youtube Videos and webistes to help you decide. I had the microkorg and loved it also.

  • thanks a lot

  • That's a very common question, and nobody seems to answer it very often.

  • th micron has better programming capabilities. also, when changing presets, there is no drop out of sound, so when playing live, any sustained notes will finish smoothly irregardless of patch changes. plus it is multi-timbral, and has a sequencer. plus it also has a true 808 in it.

  • I'm almost convinced to buy this little synth. Each time I hear guys like you playing like you do its really tempting. The other video you have is pretty good.

Which one will you choose between the Micron and the X-Station. Maybe I'm comparing two different things here, but I just wonder.

  • I believe the X-Station is a Monophonic Synth. And the Micron is 8 Poly note (only plays 8 notes at a time) and is a stereo effects synth which I think is a more powerful Synthizer which happens to have 37 keys. Hope this helps. Also, Just check out each synths website and do some research and then decide. I prefer Alesis Micron all the way!

  • Thanks for the advice

  • are you classicly trained or did you just find all the scales by playing around?

  • No, I justed played around with different chords and notes and found these to be very fun sounding for this Video demo. I like to entertain and share music ideas with others and to aways learn something new with my keyboards. Thanks

  • that's awesome, i've been trying to do that but i'm not a natural when it comes to music theory but ill take lessons sooner or later once i save up enough for a nord lead. btw you're going to get a fuck ton of views for this video in case you didn't already know that lol

  • Thanks! Hope you Reach your music goals! get set-up... with the right teachers and you'll be all set! Practice practice practice... Just keep music a passion and Have Fun!

    Take care!

  • the x-station has 8 voices, but no multi-timbral capabilities. and sounds crappy compared to the micron, personally. the micron has a smoother sound, not as edgy or squared. plus it has smooth preset transitions which is extremely useful in live situations

  • I like what you do with this keyboard. I have a Micron as well, but you're clear more accomplished than me!

  • Micron, for one, is a small, fun little synth to play. Accomplished, you'll soon be! with a little more Practice and just having fun! Thanks For watching!
