  • Do the airplanes have autopilot? Its a dum question but I couldn't help noticing how the yoke was moving on its own. Hey a question about UND, is it really better than ERAU? I feel that because of its location (in the middle of nowhere) the flight instruction wont give you that experience on busy airspace, no Bravo airspace in North Dakota :(

  • @alejo2564 I only use auto pilot on cross-country flight in good weather conditions you will have too many turns to be on auto-pilot. Its not as simple as FSX. I personally like UND better than ERAU. UND is on an international airport so you do have traffic and you are only 4 hours from Minneapolis . Also ERAU in Preston Arizona is also in the middle of nowhere might i add. Now i would like to say i'm still in high school sadly :( lol, but i am getting my private in 2 weeks!!!!

  • @Cook1993 there both good. im assuming you live in SC or did

  • im in sunny los angeles and i'm planning on going to UND for commercial aviation. Have you guys heard of anyone that drives to SoCal from UND cuz plane tickets are pretty expensive.

  • Im goin to UND this fall from NORCAL and yeah... the flights out there are crazy expensive. Not sure if the drive is worth it though... thats a long trip

    ATC major btw

  • im from laguna niguel. so right by the beach and 30 miles south of john wayne airport

  • @theflyingspoons2568 thats pretty cool. didnt think id find anyone else who is from So Cal and will be going to UND. if UND had a boys volleyball program than id be all for that but they dont so i will stick to my next favorite sport, hockey. yea the cold will be quite interesting. but it will be worth it because as far as i know, we pilots get the best office in the world

  • you dont usually hold the yoke with two hands

  • i got my acceptance certificate to UND today.

  • i got mine in october lol, are you going? i got into embry-riddle, and florida tech as well. Its a tough decision

  • yea im going. so excited to go

  • lol, i am to, because i prolly will go there cuz embry riddle and FIT are like 55K a year, WAY to much lol, i visited UND, and it was nice, the terrain a bit barren, but then at least you can land anywhere if you need to ; 0 have u been there yet?

  • i went to visit embry in prescott. the problem with it was it was only oriented around flying and aviation sciences while UND has everything. its a real college. i visited UND this past summer. loved every minute of it. it is a great place to fly because first off its flat and there isnt much going on up there. im assuming your a senior this year?

  • @PilotJamesD yea im a senior, i visited in october and they told me i got in in then : ) so i was happy, but im from NYC, and in october it was already freezing there lol, so i kinda got a taste of how it wud be, i got to go flying to, i have a vid of me landing one of their new C172s, also i love that their hockey crazy, so i do like it, im entering in the fall, and going for the commercial aviation degree

  • @aviator147 same here. but im from southern california where its very nice and warm all year. its going to be a big change when i go there. im planning on getting my commerical aviation degree and possibly with a minor in ATC. i love hockey. my team is the Ducks. i know there not doing good this year but its still fun to go to the games. let alone the college hockey games

  • @PilotJamesD lol, i want to do the exact same, i want a minor in ATC, and Im a Ranger fan lol, hanging in there. and when i went i visited the arena, and i was allowed to go down to the ice, i cant wait to get the season tixx lol for only like $120 for like 15 games. you going in the fall or august or w/e?

  • yea im stoked for those games. my school starts August 23rd. so the fall

  • @PilotJamesD ya lol, same here, you have any flight experince, i got a job so i could get my ppl before i got to UND

  • ive flown once or twice but thats it. ive always wanted to fly since i was 5 years old

  • me to lol, my grand father and great grandfather were both pilots, and its so much fun. do you know anyone else whos going to the school, i know no one except the flight instructor who took us up on the intro flight, he was from NYC to,

  • thats cool. my grandpa is a flight attendent for US Airways. i only know my flight instructor who is from southern california and thats it

  • lol yea, so you started flying then since you have an instructor now?

  • If you are already factoring in Unsat stage checks in to why you might not complete in 1 sem. then you are setting yourself up to fail. Do the work and study hard and you'll do fine. You're not here to be a doctor, you're here to be the best damn pilots around so lets start acting like thats what we are doing. I only came close to an unsat 1 time and it was due to lack of studying on my part. and I only once didn't finish a course in 1 semester, came back after break and finished in 1 week!

  • I've instructed both undergrad and contract students and none of them are given any extra treatment above the other. The key to successfully flying at UND and completing on time is to be motivated, put in the work and even a little extra than what is expected works well. Stage checks actually have priority over normal flights to ensure they get done, so if you were having troubles getting in for that, someone has to be the end of the line, at that point its first come first serve.

  • skidude747, sounds like you may have had a rough way to go through some of your courses, but to those currently flying and wishing to fly at UND this is definately not the case. Money issues aside, I held down a part time job for 2.5 of my 4 years as an undergrad, hardly had to wait for planes during stages, and Contract students DO NOT get preferential treatment.

  • Yeah this is a nice video, reminds me of my good old days at UND, but since I am in California now, I am enjoying the California Flying especially since it is a better scenery and you can do such things as a Bay Tour and get a lot more experience dealing with busy airports and UND bubble Aviators. If you have questions please msg me and I will be glad to help.

  • Awesome Video! IM heading to UND next year for the ATC course and will be taking AVIT102 to get my PPL. How tough is it to finish in a semester?

  • Great video!

I took 105 in the glass warrior. Very nice plane.

  • i want to go to und for college to fly

  • How competitive is admission to UND's aviation program?

  • BS Laevi. One semester for any flight course is wishful thinking. The template has one scheduled for one semester per flight side, but one would either have no life or be very lucky to get done on one semester. Poor weather, holding a job, waiting for loans to go through, unsating stages, waiting for planes for stage checks and one other thing. Any contract student gets priority over normal students. And there's always your other courses which are also demanding.

  • OI! I just finished 102 at UND and I've got many wonderful years ahead of me.

    Have you graduated?

  • I am thinking about going to UND and I was wondering what the cost of aircraft rentals is. Also how long did it take for you to get your ppl.

  • Youll get your privates license in 1 semester, tuition is about 8k out of state + 2.5k room/board + 8-10k for flying costs per semester.

Majority of students pay with loans, its a commitment. Its scary to think about the debt at times but when your flying nothing else matters.

  • How many flight hours do you get with that 8-10k?

  • close to 60

  • So it is about $130 to rent an airplane for an hour.

  • yea

  • Ok last question. Does that include an instructor or not.

  • it does

  • i completely disagree with jmoof15, i think the music gives it a mixture of nastalgic and comedic feel, any other music would be stereotypical, the music you used makes the video unique

  • I'm going to the camp this Sunday lol.

  • Apparently dude there are copyright, no shit man! But could you seriously find the worst music possible to play for your flight. I'm only trying to help you out making it cooler, but it makes me feel gay watching it with your music!

  • WOW dude! I think enough has been said because you have filmed yourself flying a Piper Warrior, but damn dude the music? What kind of sissy pilot listens to that crap and calls themself a pilot?

  • Like I said... I had some music from Van Halen... but apparently there is this thing called a copyright...

  • it's a real day at KGFK!!!!!! man. nice job

  • Wonderful! GREAT MOVIE!

  • I liked the other song better when you first posted this video.

  • Just out of curiosity:

I know KGFK has parallel runways - do you actually experience parallel landings or is it more single use? UND is my top choice right now as far as aviation colleges go

  • It's a rare day that both runways at GFK aren't in use simultaneously. You will like UND, I promise you that!

  • Comment removed

  • Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in between Embry-Riddle's Aeronautical Science program and UND's?

  • as a former riddle student--go to und.

  • as a former UND student, go to riddle...

  • no, save ur money

    from day one :

riddle somehow lost my housing contract but not my deposit?

lost my mpn for a loan, and then waited until literally 3 days before the end of the semester to say something, and then tried charging me a late fee.

stupid instructor failed me 3 times on my first solo exam because i didn't know the difference between various weather charts, and then called saying oops, i should have passed you because apparently that isn't apart of the 1st solo curric.

  • the list goes on >X-(

  • what camera did u use for these time lapses

  • From a UND Line guy perspective...very kewl! I respect and admire what we do here and know the flying community will benefit from our students!

  • I wish I were flying glass :(

  • Great video! I don't start flying till next semester.

  • Actually our Warriors (shown in this video) are not G1000. That is an Avidyne system. The exact product number I do not know. I'll check into that...

Now our brand new Cessna's are G1000 equipped, but I don't have any videos from inside them yet.

  • Wow, G1000. Now I'm jealous.

  • nice cockpit too bad the 172s at my school aren't g1000 :( but cool video

  • Hey! We've got some of those warriors at the beaver county airport in PA. 273nd, 272nd, 262nd and 266nd! Not the glass cockpit ones, they just have the garmin 430's.

  • that was a pretty cool vid. i'm actually going to UND this spring for rotary

  • i am kertal

  • Yeah UND just bought 25 Cessna 172's I believe that will be phasing into the fleet in the following months and years. What's funny about this video I am an ATC major but I have just started the Intro to Aviation course and my first flight ever two days ago was in N440nd or Sioux 40 this A/C that he is in.

  • hey, is it true that UND is getting rid of their PA-28's? I hope not since i want to go there and that is the plane im training in.

  • hey great video

i am looking at going to UND how do you like it there??

  • Sam dude... such a cool video

  • Super cool!

  • Sam this is so cool.

I can wait to get my pilot's license!

  • Glad you like it! It's a lot of fun, but a lot of work at the same time!

    Fly safe!
