Your Podcast is more helpful than you may realize. I like the idea of P.D. A.s and holding hands becoming the gay W.M.D. Most important is that you are giving our gay youth a positive message they need. The fact that some of our gay youth turn to suicide is a devastating result of the hate. Thank you Sacha you are a beautiful man. You are loved and I'm proud to say I love you. For the bible-thumpers.God loves his gay children we are part of the natural order, genocide is not
Thanks a lot for saying what - as the other comments make clear - is on many of our minds. A bittersweet election is, by now, almost too kind a characterization - the disappointments from Obama's administration are the rule, not the exception, and I think many of us will feel like we have a bad taste in our mouth, before long, whenever we recall the enthusiastic statements with which we embraced this man and the hopes he raised.
Kudos on the blog. I'm a fan of your music and it is a great feeling to support an openly gay artist. Not to mention one so intelligent and politically active. Please keep up your excellent work. I appreciate it very much. Thank You!
I, personally, don't have blame for the black community. If we would have put the time in to reach out to them... Then, in my belief, we would have been a lot better off. If we hadn't reached out to the general white community as much as we did, then we would have lost miserably, rather than a tight lose.
I'm just speculating, but I'm not blaming the black community.
I had to give my opinion and I know it is going to be very unpopular. Most of the voters in california are white - FACT! out of the 2240 that voted in the exit polls - 1411 were white. Of those white people 691 voted for prop 8. Now look at the AA people. out of the 2240 that voted in the exit polls. 224 were black and out of that 156 voted for prop 8. If you don't believe me head over to CNN, get a calculator out and do the maths! had a better campaign.
Other minority groups should be our strongest allies, and this is not a fault of theirs alone--it's ours as well, because the LGBTQ community hasn't placed enough emphasis, in my opinion, on working with other minorities; rather, we have focused solely on the white straight majority. I believe we should be a combined force--we all face oppression, we're together in this.
You hold hands, I'll make friends, and if everyone does their part, maybe we'll make the world a better place.
... fundamental point in the world in gay rights. -If we as a nation are changing our foundation from the one that God laid down in the world and America, then we are going against God. God destroys Sodom and Gomorrah for their sexual perversion in Genesis 19. God loves Gays, but he dislikes the action.
Shaken me to my core in a very fundamental way." - Fundamentals pertain to a foundation or anything that serves as a basis of truth. The case is there nothing fundamental about being gay. Its not based on truth and it is not the foundation that God laid out for us. This individual is upset, but he needs to use better words to not deceive people.
Obama sounds intelligent. - A lot of Americans based this election on this, that Obama sounds intelligent.Dont Listen To What They Say; Watch What They Do. Why? Obama promises and says all these things, but his actions are the opposite of what he says. Did we buy into his lies?
Hey Sacha, its Pedro! I am totally with you. The election was definitely bittersweet. Unfortunately being in a red state, I sort of prepared for prop 102 to be passed, but at the same time I had hope since we have beat the same thing in the prior election. I kept watching the percentage of yes votes get higher and higher and I almost cried. Just goes to show you we have a long way to go. Love and Hugs Sacha sweety. On a happier note, cant wait for your new cd! x0x0x Pedro
I feel the exact same way. Just like what you said, something inside me has changed now. I'm tired of worrying about making other people uncomfortable while all the while I continue to get trampled and put down again and again. I'm with you!
I saw you perform a few years back at Colorado State Univ. & have wished that I could see you again *but alas, I'm stuck in Hawaii where most musicians don't travel to very often* Anyway, I was ecstatic to finally "see" you again in this vid, however dreadful the prop 8 results have been. I'm glad you're hopeful, please keep your head up, hold your boyfriend's hand and don't ever be afraid to show people who you really are...b/c you're a beautiful person. take care & I hope 2 c u soon
This is a message that needs to be heard everywhere. They DID take rights away from you and I find it incredible. How can this possibly be? In 50 years our grandchildren are going to ask us about this and we're going to be embarrassed with how this happened.
It's amazing to me how people would spend their time and resources to destroy other peoples' rights and ultimately their happiness. This concerns EVERYBODY, because once again a group of people has been singled out and treated differently than everyone else. It's something the Nazis were really good at...
Bittersweet is right. I am proud of this country, but ashamed of this state.
Hey Sacha, once again you show us the amazing & deep person that you are. It does seem that we take one step forward & then get knocked three back. Being here in Arizona, we too were delt the same fate. It is not only disappointing but frightening as well. We do become complacent in trying to be the good "fag" so we do not offend and make others around us uncomfortable. Your feelings ring so true, it is time that we need to take a stand & start putting it out there. Much Love - Jeff
hey sacha, it's glo...i've rallied for two days now (west hollywood and the evil mormon church) for two days for these civil rights. i am so sickened by all of this. i'm straight, but most of my friends are gay and we are going to overcome this. equality for all. xo.
For the first time in my life, I am ashamed to call myself black. With 70% of the black community voting for this, I'll probably have to call myself something else from now on. It's just too embarassing. These are not the same people I know who believe in civil rights.
Thanks for your comments. I am also shaken to my core too. As a bi woman I'm very upset to see that half the people in my neighborhood had "yes for marriage" signs up in their yard...and they were going door to door to pressure their neighbors into voting Yes on Prop 102. It was sickening to me.
There is no good reason not to hold hands in public if you feel like doing so. If someone is uncomfortable with it then it is their problem.
Something is seriously fucked up in this country for people to think that kids are off in orphanages than being raised by loving same-sex parents. What are people so afraid of?
Why would a large majority of African Americans vote to take away rights of another minority group? If the vote was to not allow black people to marry I'd have been just as upset and opposed to it as I am to deny gay marriage.
Because the prop passed with only 2% and had the blacks voted the same as the other ethnicity on this issue, the prop would not have passed. Whites voted something like 48% for, Latinos something like 51% for, Asians something like 48% for, and blacks around 70% for. If blacks had voted 48% for instead of 70% for, it would have dropped the average down enough to have a small margin loss to prevent the prop from taking affect.
black people are being blamed cos its easier point ur finger at another person rather than at ur own.A few responses down,I do a breakdown & white people voted for prop 8 in a big way. Notice few people are saying anything about the fact that more white than black people voted to ban gay adoption in Arkansas. The bottomline is d issues about voting No were badly publicised.Glaad only wrote a letter to the view to clear things up after d fact.If they had done that before, it might not have passed.
I don't blame black people specifically, I was just making a point. All of my black friends vote NO on such bullshit. Really it is religion to blame for these foolish amendments to state constitutions. Sadly, the Mormon's and Catholic's lies about gay marriage have won out due to people's general ignorance on the topic. While I'm disappointed that human nature seems to be to oppress once one is no longer oppressed (Mormons used to get in trouble over polygamy) I'm not pointing fingers.
i agree with every your words Sacha,it's so shame that is happened in California, hope things will get change anyway and all gay people around the world will be have all humans rights.
LMSAO @ All the gays voting en mass for a man who is opposed to same-sex marriage, than calling it "bittersweet".

This is not a surprise. It's a valid result with respect to where our electorate stands, even here in California.
But it's changing, and it's changing rapidly, and we will get this thing done.
