  • All the tutorials that I watch gloss over changing the meter. Everybody thinks all music is 4/4. IT'S NOT!!!! Whenever I try to change the meter and record, it reverts back to 4/4 when it starts on the measure being recorded. How do I get ot to stick?

  • Was the next video on saving the sequence ever done I cant find it......I found your demo easy and very useful.

  • Was the next video on saving the sequence ever done I cant find it......I found your demo easy and very useful.

  • hey, you probly wont read this but i have followed all the steps exactly and when i hit record, no sound comes out. btw this is a great tutorial, i think somethings just wrong with my keyboard

  • out of time

  • @EHRF2010

You clearly missed the point of the video.

  • oh my god u are one lucky man u have a freakin korg triton EXTREME!!!

  • i liked your help thank you.... the korg videos suck....

  • I got it but i want to know how do you make the loops stop. I have had my triton for 4 years . I usually just got loop all tracks set my loop points then lay down the track then cipy and paste stuff . But i want know more i how to do it your way.

  • Totally confused now matey??....Machine brilliant but when u say i prefer to use this instead of that and ooh no you ply loop it and oh no turn it on actually, if u turn it on...no off sorry?...where are we?? lol....ok cool..whatever......it is hard i know!! lol

  • @donwan4u

I'm sorry you got confused but these are the absolute basics of the machine. The video is basically made for people who are interested in the board and want to try it out in the store but can't figure out how it works.

I know I'm not great on camera but at least I tried. :)

  • @dazzelya I know it is difficult but like i say the video totally confused me??

I own the M3 and am still learning on a daily basis very similar i think??

I honestly thought the cat in the background was a young girl saying "Mum" in the background, totally threw me!! lol.

I have to be honest, i could not do it.

  • @donwan4u

Yeah my cats are awesome. :)

If I knew about a better video for you I would send it to you. There might actually be some out now. The M3 was pretty new when I put this up. Good luck.

  • How do you insert a combi in sequencing?

  • good vid. bro my question is how do you save the song..for the future performances? thenks

  • jw is the sound set between the korg triton extreme & the korg m3 the same ?????

  • LAME

  • @djchonny

Yes, helping people is very lame.

Posting useless comments on two year old video's is too.

  • Hi.

I have a Korg Triton Pro. I'm trying to do this:

    Let's say i use 5 sounds in a song. Sound1, sound2, etc.

How can i use the sequencer to program the order of the sounds i need to use, and change them pressing an Assignable Foot switch, for example:

Song starts with sound 1, i press AFS, shifts to sound 2, and so on.

    Thanks in advance ;)

  • hi sir i like the way u make a track of billi jeans, i have triton but i m confuse about its programes plzz guide me that how we can use arpgators on triton and also about countize that wich situation we use which kind of countize... blawwal@yahoo.com that is my face book email adress plzz watch my vido on ti

ya que no e podido encontrar la manera.

    saludos!

  • stupid bitches ////USE FL STUDIO AND....FOR EXAMPLE VST PLUGIN NEXUS

  • How about you shut the fuck up and let people decide for themselves what to use.

Being a douchebag results in getting yourself blocked.

  • @voffka456 are you for real? Fruity Loops? over Korg lol

  • @voffka456 , idiot, we all know about vst's , but some of us, like me, actually prefer hardware, so yes, sit down and shut the fuck up .

  • After you are done with all your music. How do you save the music using a flash drive?

  • To save your song, make sure you name it first. Then go to media mode. Then select the SAVE tab. And at some point you will need to re name the song in media mode as well, and it will show up as song 1 or something. Use the dropdown menu on the upper right of the touch screen and I usually use "save seq" Good luck

  • I'm not sure if you meant THE flash drive, or and external flash drive..

  • BUT do u know how to format and edit beats on the triton?pls tell me u do?

  • There is probably a quick way to do it all. I haven't had to use it so I haven't done any major editing in the triton (as I export everything). I do know it isn't as easy as let's say a fantom or motif. Send me a pm, I might be able to send you in the right direction.

  • Is the korg triton extreme a discontinued keyboard? i tried to look it up at samash and guitarcenter websites but there were no results.

  • As far as I know they are. You should be able to get a good price on them but you would be better of with the Motif SE or the Fantom X.

  • What about the Korg x50 or Korg m50?

  • The x50 doesn't have a sequencer. The m50 should be similar if not the same as the Triton and others mentioned in this video.

  • So should i get the x50 or m50 first?

  • I wouldn't get both if that's what you are asking. Of the two I would get the m50 as it's 1: A newer version 2: The x50 is like a 'lite' version of the m50 (without sequencing capabilities).

If you are a complete noob and all you want to do is play keyboard then the x should be fine. If you want to make some tunes the m50 would be a better fit.

  • ok then

  • wuz up dude I had the triton for a while now the only thing I can't figure is how to format the beats u know separating the hook and verses.Usually I do it manually but pls help me dude.

  • Hi, I always export the midi file to my DAW and arrange there. The Triton is highly inadequate for in depth editing etc.

  • Go into menu then edit. I usually make a new sequence for each part like verse, hook, bridge. Then you can put them together in any order in song mode

  • Actually that's not what the mode is made for. It also does a weird thing where the parts don't match up the way they are supposed to. The Triton does not have a pattern mode (as the Motif's and Fanthoms do). It only has song mode. The so called 'pattern mode' in the Triton (can't think of the exact name right now) is highly inefficient to work with.

  • Hey, i had a question about saving what you have sequenced. I am able to make several beats and loop them together, just like you did, but i dont know how to save what i have created. Message me or just write back. Thanks.

  • Hi, how to save sequences has been answered already. It should be in the comments somewhere :)

  • how do you save a track on it?????

  • Your question has already been answered. Look through the comments :)

  • how can i transfer the midi file into a DAW because i use a midi cable but nothing appears in my removable hardware. idk if my triton is messed thats what im tryin to figure out.

  • Midi transfer doesn't work via midi cable. It works through the supplied usb cable (which also acts like a midi cable). When saving your project you select 'save as' and them 'midi exclusive'. (I'll have to check at home first to be sure). Before doing any of that. Install the drivers supplied, and then connect the Triton via usb. In USB mode it should pop up on the pc. I'll explain better when I get home.

  • i jus wanna how how to use a pen drive and copy songs that you sequence or record in a korg triton.. pls help

  • I have a m3 korg 61 key on layaway at samash. I will have it some time in the middle of this july. A few weeks after my birthday. I will holla at ya with question. You started off making that beat. Im saying to my self what is he doing with this simple stuff. But see simple stuff adds up and you did 1 of the best beats from Michael Jackson. I didnt know you was doing it. Peace teacher

  • Thanks for watching. I could have done a complex melody line and all kinds of fillers but that wasn't the purpose of this video :). My birthday is the 15th of July!

    Adios.

  • Thanks for watching. I could have done a complex tune but that wasn't the purpose of this video. My birthday is July 15th :)

    Adios.

  • how do you save a sequence on the Triton extreme because when i turn the piano off the sequence erases and i want the sequence to save on my piano.

  • Hi. your question has been answered before. Look through the comments.

  • hi, im trying to work the cue list but i dont know where to start. im trying to put a song together to where i dont have to mute and unmute in the sequence mode

  • hi, ive been trying to figure out how to do the cue list mode. i want to put a beat together or put a song together. i guess its called song mode or something like that. i know how lay down the sequences but i dont want to have to mute and unmute instruments. any answers?

  • Hi sorry for the late reply. I forgot about your question. Unfortunately the Triton does not have a pattern mode. Putting a complete song together is quite hard as it only has song mode. Best thing to do is to arrange your song by exporting the midi file into your DAW and do the arranging there. You can then save the new midi sequence back in the Triton if need be.

  • You did a very good job...better than the video that came with the extreme

  • Thanks. Appreciate it man.

  • this video is very helpful...couple of questions though---

    1. how do I quantize or whatever to make it to where if i record a drum hit (or keys) and the hit is not perfectly on the beat, it will automatically correct it and make everything line up right on the clicks?

    2. once I have recorded a section of a song, how do i then record the second and third section and put it all together to form a complete song?

  • yeah it corrects it

  • what about the 2nd question? how do you put two sections of a song together to form a complete song?

  • ah sorry i dont know that :(

  • can u tell me how tp pattern it out...

  • Please be more specific.

  • hey man ive been trying to find out how to save on my sequencer, i mean by saving on my keyboard. hope u answer!

  • Hi,

Go through the older comments. I've answered it before.

Good luck. (If you can't find it, let me know.)

  • WOuld you recommend I get the CD/RW drive for the Triton Studio as the Floppy Disk is Dated? ]

    1. I dont have a PC with a floppy drive to transfer the info to from a floppy..

    2. What format with the files be on the cd/r once i ever figure out how to save??

  • Doesn't the studio also have usb? You could just use a usb stick (unless it doesn' t support usb)

  • Hey Man,

that is way helpful, i have a korg triton extreme and dont know much how to use the advanced features yet.

Anyhow, i've been trying to figure out how to save a sequence once it's been recorded. By save i mean either to the keyboard itself so the sequence is there if i turn it off and back on, or save it to a computer?

Do you need to put a flash card in? I have a USB cable to hook it to my computer but couldn't figure out how to make it work.

    Thanks man!!

  • Thanks.

Go up a few comments. mjmorris04 asked the same thing and I answered him there.

    Good luck.

  • I think you already answered my question.. wither way thank you!

  • Hehe ok, I have answered some questions already indeed. If you have more just ask.

  • I was going to ask how do I not lose my tracks.. I composed a halfway decent song on the 76 key studio triton and the next day it was gone.. I have a floppy drive but there is only a slot for the cd r.. can I save my tracks to the floppy?

  • good vid dazzelya, helped alot.

was wondering if you knew how i would be able to play something in combination/program mode and be able to play my recorded sequence over the top of me playing. i have the start/stop assigned to my switch pedal but can only get it to work while in sequence mode.

  • Thanks,

If I understand correctly you are trying to use two modes at once. Combination mode and sequence mode are two different modes which can't be used at the same time (as far as I know). However, you can quite easily make your own 'combination' (mode) in seq mode. Message me for more info.

  • hey man can you maybe show me how to make samples its cause i wanna learn i can get the signal to go in i just dont know how to record please let me know i want to do sampling like record one key then another then another then another you know what i mean? like as in transfer sounds from another keyboard thank you

  • I don't sample myself. You can find the way how to by doing a google search. I do put sounds in myself but it's too complicated to write in a message.

    Just google it.

  • thanks man i finally got sampling it is the best feature of this keyboard

  • You're welcome.

  • Thanks dude, helped alot ;)

  • You're welcome.

  • =)........

  • do you maybe know how to transfer some sounds(and where to find hem) on korg triton extreme?

  • Hi, I've done it before but I can't remember where I found them. Just google it and you should come across a few forums/sites. Instructions how to load them should also be available on the sites. If I think of the place where I saw some I'll send you a message.

  • Could you please show how to save sequences on a korg m3, thank you.

  • Hi, I don't own the M3 but It should be the same as the Triton:

After doing some sequencing go to 'Media', if you have a separate folder press 'open' On the bottom left select the 'save' tab.

On the top right (drop down menu) select 'save seq' Give it a file name and press 'ok' That's it.

  • I have a triton since 2 years and I never found out about the overdub feature, I always made a second tracks for additionnal cymbals lol. Thanks for the tips!

  • Haha, well you're welcome :)

  • yo im gettin a korg m3, but ive never done "live sequencing" meaning, i used to use fl studio and i cant play with time so good, does the triton have the feature where u can lay the notes manually?

  • There is (it's called step recording) but it isn't made to do whole songs. It doesn't work like in FL. You can however hook the m3 up via midi to the pc and 'draw'/program the notes in there.

I highly suggest you try to learn how to do the 'live' sequencing as it is much more fun, much more creative and challenging.

If you aren't going to use the keys, you are better off just getting the module :)

  • hey thanks, i do than to use the keys but i just want to be able to still make beats with it while learning to use it, and things like hi hats and drums i wud use the step recording for, nt really keys and strings wich have longer notes. but thanks, man.

  • Hi Dazzelya this is a very clear and articulate instructional video both for Triton and M3 owners. We could use you input over at the Korgh Karma forums.

    Respect Limbic

  • Hi, thanks. I appreciate it.

I'm afraid I won't be much of help on an m3 forum though. However, if a question is asked. I'll try to answer.

  • one more question left (i know i made u tired)(lol/sorry)!! about the sequence

if i made the track in about 4 bars and if i pres start it plays from one until 4 but i want to copy it so it will go on from 4 to 8 and from 8 to 12 and so on. how can i do that cuz i tried to do it but i couldnt really(is it copy major or insert major or???

  • how can i transfered my recorded music from the sequencer to the SD card?

  • By saving it. (You don't actually transfer recorded music. You save midi information.)

Dgjyoungsavage asked the same thing. Read my answer below.

  • Wat kind of compact flash do i need to have,or will ihave to get a compact flash adapter.

  • Do u have to have a usb device or something to save the sequence. Cause right now i dont have my board hooked up to anything.

  • Best thing to get is a 'compact flash' card. They are quite cheap and it mounts flush into the Triton. My 256mb card is still not full. Midi information is very small. Get a gig (I think it's 2 gigs max) if you are going to sample. You can use a usb device if you want to but it will stick out. There is a good chance it might bend and break the usb port.

When you install the drivers and connect the usb cable the compact flash card acts as your usb device. When in usb mode a window will pop up

  • Thank u

  • No prob.

  • How Do U Save The Sequence

  • 'Media' select the 'save' tab. Select the drop down menu and select 'Save SEQ' Give it a name and click ok. That's all.

When you want to load a sequence highlight the file but don't select 'open'. Instead, go to the dropdown menu again and click on 'load selected' press 'ok' and you are good to go.

  • do you save the sequence?

  • Of course. (Not this one though)

  • I dream of having a Korg and you have 2 of them :( lol

  • I do? Sweet!

(The second one is a digital piano ;)

I am adding a Fantom G and XS 8 soon though

  • I don't even have a piano XD

  • How well does the Korg TR compare to the Triton Extreme since tritons are now discontinued?

  • The TR is the LE's big brother as the M3 the Extreme's big brother.

Comparing the two is hard since they aren't direct competitors. The LE is a good players board with a decent sequencer and sounds.

The TR is also much newer than the Extreme which provides a similar sonic value, but doesn't compare in the intuitiveness of the Extreme.

Although both the Extreme and TR are a good bang for buck, an older Motif (es or similar) will still kill the tritons.

  • Greetings. Can you tell me how to make a mp3 or transfer my sequenced track to my computer? I have a 4 gig flash drive as well. Can use that? I just need to be able to let folks hear the track. (CD burning, email transfer, etc).

  • Hola, best thing you can do is to track the seperate channels to the computer. (Press record on the pc and play on the triton)

There should be a way to convert files directly to wav on the triton. I myself haven't found the need to do so, so unfortunately I can't help you with that part. I'll look at it today and message you if I figured it out.

  • Can you tell me the differences between KORG TRITON LE and KORG TRITON EXTREME? Which one sounds better? Which one would you recommend? I would like to buy KORG TRITON EXTREME because I saw sounds awsome, and even the KORG TRITON LE, I have KORG PA 800 now, but in future I want to get extreme but I don't know if they still sell it or not. ?

  • If you don't know the difference between the two, why do you want the extreme? :p

The extreme is the better (and newer) of the two. Just as the m3 is the big brother of the extreme. I suggest you look at a motif se because the sounds are better.

Motif se rack units are quite cheap these days.

  • Thanks for your reply. I heard the sound of EXTREME and also a little bit of LE, but I wanted to know which one is better. I probably want EXTREME because it sounds so good and because I heard it here on youtube. They don't sell the EXTREME TRITON anymore I heard. Which one is better or equal to EXTREME TRITON, that would be M3 right?

  • i was wondering if this still applies to The Korg Triton Le? cause thats what i have ...

  • Yes it does. The sequencer is pretty much the same. The difference is that some options are a few more clicks away being that it doesn't have the touch screen.

  • i actually just read all your other comments and on one another person said they were trying to put a whole song together on the triton and was having a lot of trouble, and you basically said you cnt really do it without having a little bit of a gliche? so is there any way to arrange in song mode?? or put a song together without using a computer?? ill be kinda pissed if i paid all that money for a board and i cant put songs together on it.

  • I have to go out right now but I will reply to this comment in a elaborate fashion alright.

    Adios

  • sup man? i love your beats. they are truely unique. your almost 9 minute tutorial, helped me more than the operation guide ever has. i know you have better things to do than teach me how to use the triton but if you ever feel like making anther video, maybee do one on creating a song from top to bottom, thats another thing im haveing trouble with. or maybee how to sample and use it in a sequence. thanks man. ill keep my eyes open for thse videos. peace.

  • I'm sorry. I forgot to reply to your messages.

I'll think about doing a 'how to' beat video soon.

  • that just gives you a loop. how do you arrange different loops into a song? like, say I had a verse and a hook, how do I get that put together? is it even a sequencer thing or is it a song thing?

  • Well the Triton is a bit limited in that sense. It doesn't have a pattern mode. Just a song mode. You can however play the drums and copy paste them for the full length of the song.

You can then play the intro. Set the marker to where the chorus should be and play parts there.

The best thing to do (which I do) is to export the midi file to a sequencer program and arrange there. Then you record the audio parts and you're done. It's much much more flexible and powerful that way.

  • Why not just record into a program like cubase to start with then? then you wouldn't have to export the midi file. I've had this thing for years and never really dug into it, and now that I am, it seems like its missing some key ingredients. What is the song mode all about? can you record it that way, 1 sequence being the chorus, another being the hook, another the bridge, then arrange in song mode and save to a wav or something? I've got cubase but I'd like to have the songs on the triton.

  • The thing is I don't like sequencing in cubase. There's nothing wrong with the program since I absolutely love cubase 4. I have much more fun sequencing in the board itself.

Song mode is something you have on all workstations. It basically means you can sequence full songs at once. Play the whole piano thing and then play the whole string section thing. You can record the parts on separate 'song tracks' and key them together but there is a noticeable pause between the parts.

  • It's a fraction of a second but It's clearly there.

What you can also do is copy all the settings you have from one 'song' to another and sequence in cubase. Then import the cubase midi file into the triton to 'song 2' This way you have the fully arranged song on the triton.

  • Oh, how do you save the sequence? I couldn't figure it out.

  • You go to media mode and save it there. (You'll need a compact flash card though. A 256 mb should suffice.)

  • Yah, someone told me on korgforums. Thanks though. I bought a 1GB just in case since they're cheap.

  • Thanks so much. This was very helpful. :)

  • You are very welcome ;)

  • Good :)

  • good vid. I use the sequencer alot - for orchestral sequencing and you explain things well.

  • Thanks. I was a bit concerned if things were clear enough.

  • hey man i have a korg triton, and i desperatly need help , on how to use my compact flash. please if you can help me call me at 706 847 68 66 please!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well I'm obviously not going to call you :)

(I wonder how many people are going to call and hang up. It's not very wise to post personal info on a public website...)

Insert the card. Go to media->utility. Open up the options and format. That's all

  • no is not like that,,but thats cool.i've tried that and for some reason when i go to media it says cf not label???? but i really need your help!!!!!

  • Make sure you put the card in before you power up. Other than that it's straight forward. I haven't had any problems with it at all...

  • well my question is which is better and which is easier to do hip hop beats, a Triton Extreme or an M3?

  • They is no better is the context of 'easier' whatever the cost of a board or software. The only thing making the actual beat is you. Every board has a learning curve but if talking about quality of sounds I suggest you get an m3 over the extreme. (Only because the m3 is newer)

  • Thank you. That was extremely helpful!

  • You're very welcome man

  • wow i prety much go confirmed on whats right but i usually use loop all trax i dont kno if thats good to make beats i like hip hop and tekno beats aprisiate for showing a sample i really need help with something dat i ben struglling with if u can teach me i promice ill try 2 upload a video of my self making some music i made lots of beats but i dont kno how to save em to my computer so i can save em and play em back in a stereo i can only play em back on keobord and i save em under file sng

  • I'll make a quick vid maybe tomorrow. Or I'll message you later tonight if I don't feel like making a video :)

I personally never use the loop all function. The reason for this is that I never always play the same amount of bars. I generally play the 8 bar chorus and build on that. After that I usually play a 16 bar verse part so I can't really use the function. I manually insert the loop amount in the playloop.

  • Yo, I don't own one myself but in the bigger studio there is a mo8. I'll see if I can go there this weekend to make you a video alright.

  • Yo Fromention. I'm going to find out today when I can make a quick mo tutorial!

  • thanx man u helped me a lot.....:D

  • Very welcome man.

  • very nice.

  • Thanks spike

  • I gave you 5 stars because to me, anyone who takes the time out to explain or help someone else deserves it! Nice job!!!

  • Very kind Vince. Thanks!
