  • Fair tax is better because the more you spend, the more you put in to taxes. With an income or flat tax, you still have the government punishing people for making more. Also in a flat tax, if you make $200,000 a year, 10% isn't gonna be an issue to you, but if you only make $20,000 a year, that's more than a whole month's income. Flat tax benefits both the rich and the poor.

  • Many European countries have gone to a Flat Tax and I believe that is what Reagan was trying to accomplish while he was President. I believe at the time there were only 3 tax brackets that were fairly low, but since then more brackets have been added and thus complicating the system even further.

  • I understand the concept of the Fair Tax but my one question is how is it different from a VAT tax which i'm sure most Republicans are opposed to?

  • What do you call 100 Republicans at the bottom of a lake? A good start.

  • There is only one thing worse than a republican....a Texas Republican

  • The Republican Party loves dancing don't they.

The republicans are all for deregulating the financial services industry under the pretense of not having any regulations or controls over the processes and procedures because they do not believe in "Big Government Interference".

Welcome to the real world of free for all financial services and deregulation under the Republican Administration.

    Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac..Bail Out

    Lehman Brothers..crash and burn

    Merrill Lynch...Bail Out

  • Republicans are IDIOTS!!!

  • Sales Tax is the way to go. It will cut the beurocracy and it is the same all over the board. How much the rate shoul be? that is the dillema.

  • How about a zero tax, which means that the only taxes we will pay are excise taxes, sales taxes, and this can all be done by abolishing whole departments including: education, agriculture, energy, the IRS, and the Fed.

  • i would like to nominate u for president

  • I am aiming lower by running for US senate in my state of Texas as a Ron Paul Republican. Thanks for the offer though.

  • Megarawdeal - the 23% that FT claims - is an average real dollar amount when taking into account %0 income tax, but the actual sales tax would be around 30%. You might want to re-read the book. However in your defense, a huge sales tax is a good thing. Why? Because everyone and they're dog would be burning cities down in revolt. Most people today GET a refund check. They had NO sense of loss, because they never had the money in their hands - with the FairTax, the masses would be very PO'ed.

  • The cost of things would not really go up. Now the cost of income taxes and capitol gains etc are ALREADY built in to the cost of products. And the cost would have to stay competitive for people to stay in business and EVERYONE including people working under the table and illegally would be paying in with no breaks or loop holes for the rich.

Even if the cost went up a little bit big deal because you would be making more money and the government would be out of your PRIVATE LIFE.

  • I don't see how you've come to your 30% figure. Can you elaborate further?

  • The current tax system allows the government to terrorize the citizenry into compliance. The IRS doesn't have to prove wrong doing, the accused has to prove that they didn't do anything wrong. This allows government to maintain control. Without the IRS the federal government may well become irrelevant.

  • Southern Avenger, what do you have to say about your White Brethern being raided and hundreds of White children being forced into homes where mixed marriages will be encouraged?

  • With the fairtax... any tax increase will be across the board. Poor, middle, and upper class will feel the effects. Politicians won't be able to pander to any particular group in order to increase spending and expand already bloated entitlement programs. That would greatly reduce the momentum of our coarse towards socialism. It would also promote productivity and bring about incredible job growth.... which should theoretically reduce the amount of people dependent on social programs to survive.

  • Once again brillant, but who cares? Answer; Not enough Americans to make a diffence. Informed individuals are the true minority.

  • A perfect example of someone who's had all of the fight stomped out of them. Do you propose that we all just bend over and take it in the ass? Complacency is the life blood of government.

  • I'm not giving up by a long shot my friend. However, one needs to realistic when being surrounded by a flock of sheep.

  • Irrelevant. I can't see how being surrounded by "sheep" relieves us of our responsibility to our selves to be assertive and demand our constitutional rights be recognized. The fair tax tips the power scale toward the individual. Imperfect as it is... it is a step in the right direction.

  • Ditkus, Are you some kind of mental midget? Where did you get 30%? Can you comprehend the positive effects that the Fairtax will have on our economy, and how that is a good thing?

Bottom line... you haven't done your research and it's fucking infuriating having to deal with such moronic banter.

  • The unfairtax is a terrible idea, no American wants to be saddled with a 30% sales tax. Only one candidate is talking about REALLY cutting spending and seriously talking about ending the income tax and repealing the 16th amendment, and that is Ron Paul.

  • We need to act. We can all hope and want RP to be president, but if we dont take positive productive actions in our respective communities, RP as president would not be enough. If u r a Citizen, u can run for office in your local government. Be the leader in your community that speaks the truth and has high moral standards. We have to eliminate all the hypocrites running our government, churches and households. U can be the role model.

Hope you can help in your community.

  • I was wondering if you've read the FairTax book by Boortz, etc. or it's sequel? If so, do you think it was accurate about this subject? I've flipped through some of the former and maybe part of the new one at B&N Bookstore, but not enough to really say more than it seems good.

  • Bush never had any plan. Im not the brightest bulb in the pack, but I can see Dubya was annointed to a throne.

Youre my favorite media person supporting Ron Paul. Id advertise on your station any day.

There are still a few of us left that realize whats a stake. Lets hope change happens before crap hits the fan.

  • Ron Paul truly believes in the concept of freedom and liberty, the other clowns want to take your money so they can use it to give out favors, and thus feel powerful.

  • I just sent in my taxes.

I pay between 20-35% each year.

I've seen a couple of tax returns on Dick Cheney.

Cheney pays between 6-10%. Something is bad wrong with this picture.

  • Dillion -- not many pay 35%. If you pay 35%, you probably are self employed.

Thats the hell of it -- earned income pays BY FAR the highest tax rate. If you made your money by cap gains, dividends, you would have paid 15% tops -- and maybe as little as 5%.

The excuse for cap gains and dividends paying so little, is that they are supposedly high risk.

My asp. The self employed take real risk -- the small businessman takes real risks -- and meets a payroll.

  • This exactly the point - Bush's "tax cuts" only went to the richest Americans, and everyone fell for it. People do not vote for their economic interests, they actually vote against them. Even "Reagan tax cuts" were skewed as well. Trickle down economics does not work, as the Bushes and Reagan have shown.

  • Fair Tax?! Is there any hope for this country when "conservatives" seek to devise and support more efficient and clever ways for the government to take our money to fund its never-ending expansion? I think not. It always disgusts me to hear "conservatives" justify a tax cut on the grounds that it will increase government revenue.

  • Exactly. The real issue is out of control spending, the unfairtax just shifts the ginormous tax burden over to sales. This whole boondoggle is reminiscent of Milton Friedman's withholding tax in 1942 that promised a fairer tax system that was more efficient.

  • I liked Clinton's plan, wait 'till we're out of debt until we get low taxes, so we don't get ROYALLY SCREWED later on.

  • Wait till we're out of debt? When? We will never be out of debt so long as we provide a means for government to run a deficit. If we destroy it's income, they can't spend us into debt (as easily).

  • we have to reduce spending too, but do you think cutting tax will really reduce the government's ability to run a defecit?

my point was that when clinton was president, we had no defecit, we had a large surplus.

  • Ron Paul 2008! I'm writing his name in.

  • In Romney's defense I think he did say at one point he would support the abolition of the IRS. Of course only Ron Paul would have actually abolished the IRS if he were elected, but unfortunately the American people have basically already cast their votes for more war and more government in 2008.

  • Bureaucracy is never efficent system.

  • Neo-Cons are Trotskyite Commies. Wear your RED you Commie bastards.

  • I think its funny that the Income Tax was supposed to be temporary until the War was won... We have been at war since.

Good Job... Without a doubt, the income tax is one of our greatest attacks on our Freedom and the most odvious sign we have become slaves.

  • As Bastiat said: there are three options in a society: 1)the few plunder the many, 2)all plunder all, 3)nobody plunders anybody.

Only Ron Paul offers the third.

  • I do not support the fair tax either; as far as I know, it merely changes how the government robs me and changes nothing about the fact that they still do. Abolish the income tax, do not reform it.

  • I don't fully endorse the Fair Tax for the same reason Ron Paul doesn't - replacing one massive tax with another is no solution. But my point is that even the Fair Tax, because it would significantly change the current tax system, is scary and deplorable to mainstream Republicans, precisely because they want to maintain the status quo. Regardless, those who want to abolish federal taxes altogether should reach out to the Fair Tax crowd as they are certainly better potential allies than enemies.

  • point taken. thanks

  • Ron Paul would cut spending enough that IRS wouldnt be needed -- according to him. But he wouldnt immediately get rid of income taxes. He would cut spending enough to do it.

I don't think he can cut spending at all, much less cut it a trillion dollars.

  • There really NEEDS to be more torches and pitch forks in front of the Whitehouse, your founding fathers would be a little bit upset what the "SO CALLED", Government is doing to the sheeple. The magical document says "WE THE PEOPLE", not WE THE GOVERNMENT. Abolish the FED, stop taxing the Sheeple. "We must obey GOD rather than men" Acts 5:29

  • Don't forget shotguns. Pitchforks, torches, and shotguns...oh wait...you're not allowed to own a gun in DC. So much for the right to arms...

  • It do abolish the income tax, you will never have money taken out of your paycheck again. And the Fair Tax also abolish the I.R.S..Then it put in there place a 23% sale tax that we pay whe we buy new goods! If you want to know more Google BILL HR25 or S13 to see it for yourself.

  • Gravel on the Dem side supports the fair tax as well. Another great video.

  • There should be a flat sales tax on most things.

  • Steado -- you said Flat sales tax on most things. Fine. Should you pay sales tax on cancer surgery and chemo that is keeping you alive?

Should you pay sales tax on your utility bill?

    How about your gasoline?

How about your car insurance -- should you have to pay the worlds HIGHEST sales tax on that?

Fairtax would be the worlds HIGHEST sales tax on EVERYTHING -- including medical costs, utilities, rent, insurance premiums.

    Its wacko wacko.
