I'm new to the bad plus but I must say they are one of the few acoustic bands that are different. This music relates to the people of this time period there not going back in time and just regurgitating shit from the 1940's, 50's and 60's that's what I like most about them.

@Supreme7truth If you really think about it...it is just the modern version of what many jazz groups of the early 30's and on did with the music. They take songs that were fairly modern from the time (the tune that is) and make something new out of it. Good observation.

I was going to comment on jazz, but now im just thinking about why people even waste their time putting purposely hateful comments on Youtube. Anyway, while the bad plus do covers like this and are fully capable of making them their own, they also have their original stuff, some of which is "very jazz-like", if you dont consider this to be jazz. jazz for me needs to be fresh, new, innovative and extremely talented. should be a free expression etc... and TBH hit that nail right on the head! they've taken jazz as a style somewhere new... they are more jazz than all the millions of bands ripping off miles davis! lol

jazz cant stagnate or it will die, which has been a danger in recent years! but luckily there are still bands like this to give the style something new...

This seems to be the "easy listening/muzak" of today. Perhaps this is like Coltranes's "My favorite things", but without the bravery and creativity. If you like this, keep looking. There's much better music out there (it's called "jazz")

what's not brave or creative about playing an unusually rhythmically oriented form of jazz music that probably alot of traditionalists can't stand due to it not being "jazz". sure it's loud, it doesn't have that much soloing, it's more expressive than clever, but i don't see how it's not creative, and it's certainly not lacking bravery. and it's arrogant to assume those who don't prefer your music simply are on a road of maturity to 'discovering' it.

I digress I only watched 30 sec. of the video and was in a bad mood at the time! At 2 min into it I changed my mind. The song shot to a new level. Very good playing overall, especially the drums! (chops and finesse ) Good harmonic structure from the piano player as well a chops
