Oil is necessary in the creation and distribution of elecricity. Coal plants rely on gas to transport the coal. Electric cars CAN'T do this job. Asphalt, lubricating oil for equipment, tar, motor oil, tires, antifreeze, etc ALL are petroleum based. We need oil. Why cut off our supply?

You're assuming I've done no research. I have. That is why I've concluded that catastrophic manmade global warming is a fraud.
Again, what evidence do you have that man's contribution of CO2 is catastrophic when CO2 levels have been much higher in earlier times of earth's history?
One issue at a time: The question is whether a small change is CO2 concentration relative to the rest of the atmosphere can have large impact in the amount of energy (temperature) the earth retains. Large impact is measured on whether there will be drastic change in global weather systems (drought, flooding, massive hurricanes, massive snow storms) etc.
Again, the effect of higher CO2 is to cause higher energy retention, meaning higher temperatures than otherwise would have been. (It isn't helpful merely to compare CO2 levels now and CO2 levels then, without factoring in solar output, earth tilt, etc.). So lets focus one issue.
cdog4100, no because CO2 is the gas that is being regulated and used as an excuse to expand government and increase taxes and control lives.
Either man's tiny contribution to atmospheric CO2 is capable to catastrophically altering the climate or it isn't.
I contend and have seen evidence that CO2 has historically lagged behind rising temps and once CO2 levels reach a certain saturation, the impact levels off.
I also contend that it is the sun that has a or the most significant impact.

And given that fact, halting CO2 emission will tend to decrease the overall energy (heat and phase change of H20) on the earth. Absent some other negative feedback temp, this will cause the earth to be at a lower temperature than it would have been ALL OTHER FACTORS THE SAME.
cdog4100, the issue is: is man's contribution catastrophic? Well, as I'm sure you are aware, CO2 accounts less than 4% of green house gasses. Man's contribution toward that 4% of CO2 is less than 4% of that. That's like one chair in a big football stadium.
And greenhouse gasses account for less than 2% of the earth's atmosphere. YET, politcians, both national and global, are calling for economy destroying, liberty destroying laws and taxes. This is not acceptable.
I challenge you to actual go and look at the scientific data and journals. If you have even a modicum of scientific training you will quickly appreciate (and I will speak to you like you understand statistics)
1) The earth is also most certainly warming
2) It is probably warming, inter alia, because of man made CO2 emissions
3) we aren't certain what effect that will have on climate in the long run

For example while we've had a good deal of snow and cold weather here in the states, Canada's weather was on the mild side for the same time period. @Sasukelegend5 Ozone (O3) is not the cause. Pay attention to the facts. CO2 (carbon dioxide) H20 (water vapor) and CH4 (methane) and the chief greenhouse gasses, though there are additional ones. All of the above are man-made and affecting the amount of infrared radiation that is reflected back to the Earth.

One issue at a time: The question is whether a small change is CO2 concentration relative to the rest of the atmosphere can have large impact in the amount of energy (temperature) the earth retains. Large impact is measured on whether there will be drastic change in global weather systems (drought, flooding, massive hurricanes, massive snow storms) etc.

@ensignbay No. The earth's climate will "change" regardless. Now, if your question is "Do I believe CO2 emissions cause radiation from the sun to be trapped" , then the answer is yea, that is a fact. And given that fact, halting CO2 emission will tend to decrease the overall energy (heat and phase change of H20) on the earth. Absent some other negative feedback temp, this will cause the earth to be at a lower temperature than it would have been ALL OTHER FACTORS THE SAME.

And greenhouse gasses account for less than 2% of the earth's atmosphere. YET, politcians, both national and global, are calling for economy destroying, liberty destroying laws and taxes. This is not acceptable.

For example while we've had a good deal of snow and cold weather here in the states, Canada's weather was on the mild side for the same time period. Both sides are using the same argument and it doesn't hold up to scrutiny for either side. Your side bar info is certainly better, but how many people are even going to look at it?

barakill, thanks for your comment. This video makes fun of every tv anchor who breathlessly cried "global warming!" on every hot day over the past 15 years. Liberals have been using daily weather patterns to support their claims for years. I'm making fun of them.
And all we can do is provide info like I have in the sidebar. Many "catastrophic manmade global warming true believers" will choose not to see the evidence.

@ensignbay This is not a "liberal" or "conservative" issue. I am a scientist and this is a scientific issue. If you must know my politics fine: I am a federalist (states rights small fed), II dont think kaynesian economics is sound policy (but we have the biggest test of the theory right now with a huge bailout) and am probably socialyl libertarian.. This is a scientific issue, and I hate HATE, that the republican party always seems to be on the wrong side of science.

The UN and our own politiicians are using catastrophic manmade climate change as an excuse for massive govt power grabs and taxation.
I'm pointing out that the evidence provided by key climate scientists is shoddy science. What evidence is there that man's influence is catastrophic?
It has been warmer AND colder in earth's history. Do you believe that if we humans became totally united in purpose, that we could stop the earth's climate from changing?

(1) The earth has ALWAYS been in a state of climate change.
--It has been warmer AND colder than it is now.
(2) The earth has not significantly warmed since 1995.
(3) The very scientists who are claiming that we have to be forced through govt control and taxation to live differently due to global warming or climate change have been caught:
--silencing dissent
--using sloppy procedures
--losing original data
--making false and wrong claims

(1) True - but the Earth has not always been human habitable. Current global temp increase is being exacerbated by us.
(2) You can't measure a statistically significant trend in 10 years when year-to-year fluctuations are large. You can say that we have not been able to measure warming of the Earth in the past 10 years.
(3) The Scientists are just giving the data and facts. Despite a few problems, the scientific evidence for AGW is overwhelming! Sigh.
