Exactly what type of red meat was used in the study and who funded the study? Do you have the link to this study so I can check it out? How is your triglyceride level and did you have your LDL particle size checked as well as c-reactive protein?
I'm sorry to hear about the poor guy in the hospital who ate 2 steaks a day... being vegetarian, vegan or taking on any diet program/system is very personnel and can evoke a lot of controversy... for me being vegan has become a lifestyle and one of my favorite advocates is Dr. John McDougall - good luck!
One other thing he can't eat hard foods anymore or foods with skin ie: apples. This will affect his colon from here on out, I don't feel bad for this guy because he should have known better it's common sense, if you eat red meat eat in moderation or you will suffer in the long term.
Heads up to buddy's comment on eating 2 steaks a day. I met a guy who was in the hospital for 3 months because he had diverticulosis. He was eating to much red meat and it was being stored in his intestine accumulating over weeks. Eventually he told me he was poisoned from this (affected his colon severely) and lost 90 pounds, he looked scary thin for his height. He still has to have surgery to remove the toxic particles from the red meat out.
For many years I was a vegetarian and saw my health and strength slowly decline. It was not until I switched to a Paleo/Primal type diet that I saw my health, strength, and performance start to escalate past any of my previous levels. I do agree with you on dairy though. Milk is for baby cows, not humans.
i'm no cow man. i eat 2 steaks every evening and 3 eggs every morning and my cholesterol is actually almost a little too low. cholesterol levels are gentetic.
I agree if you're talking about conventionally raised meat and dairy, but grass/pasture fed milk and meat are quite good. The milk should be raw too btw.
We are what we eat, so is the cow. Cow eats grass all day. Grass provides nutrients for muscle growth. We eat cow flesh/fats and get all of that stored energy and protein and other nutrients. The body does not care if it is cow flesh. It simply says hmm dense protein...digest and break down into amino acids. You cannot get any better source of protein perfect for building muscle than hmm muscle tissue. Stop listening to peta and listen to your body. We have eaten meat since dot

Being a vegan isn't that healthy. Do you know how many vitamins you HAVE to take just to live that life style!
