for all the discussion on if these guys are actually thrash or if there a metallica cover band, i say all of this is wrong, they are a mix of a lot of differnt things and focusing on one isnt what music is about, these guys made there own style their talent, and should be praised for it
Notice that at the end of this song Heafy does a "YeaHaa!" that sounded nearly IDENTICAL to James Hetfield's "YeaHaa!" lmao Matt Heafy stole James' vocals! lol That's where they went... I demand that Heafy give them back!!!! lmao
Yeah, in this album Trivium is like a mix of A7X and Sum 41 (listen to the vox and you'll know that to be true) and Disturbed. Somehow that ended up making Heafy sound like the AJFA James, and maybe Heafy knew this when he decided to say "YeaHaa" at the end of this song. {:-p Metallica, their first album and a half was Thrash, then half their second album and the 2 (maybe 3) that followed was just Heavy. Then they went to a bluesy Hard Rock, to Nu-Metal, then back to Thrash.
@mechaghostman2 Yeap, i think it's variety what makes good artist's, and it's funny to see how two great bands ended up with similar styles after chaging a lot trough years, actually i like A7X and Sum 41, old metallica, new metallica, alternative and old school styles... I don't understand why on metal videos(mostly oldschool thrash.... ) everyone talks shit about other bands.
Yeah I like all those too. I'm a diehard Metallica fan and can tell you 'bout the Metallica vs. Megadeth feud, however I don't know why Slayer, Anthrax, Testament and many more bash on each other. It just don't make sense to me really. I enjoy every genre, even sometimes Metalcore and Deathcore (on occasion.) Thrash is my fav genre, old Metallica type, but I'm in on everything. I too like hearing bands that play with diversity, it shows they have color in their musical taste.
Well, when it comes to variety, i always like trivium, onslaught, pantera, megadeth and metallica, i can never get tired of their songs, after every great idea, they come with another one(even during the same songs), it's just exciting lol. Saw onslaught last week, and talked with the guitarrist a while, he mentioned that that was the effect he was trying to achieve when making music, that was inspiring to me, im actually studying music so it encourages me to be more serious :D
Yeah, I mean Metallica does Thrash, Heavy, Hard Rock, sort of Nu-Metal, and tbh karaoke with their album Lulu, lol. Trivium do Metalcore, Heavy, Hardcore, and Thrash. Trivium is a band just as tight as Metallica so, really it's almost like a resurrection of the old flame Metallica once had, except Heafy usually does more screamo and growls than James does, lol. And yeah, I too love the songs that change from heavy to melodic in the same song too. {:-) I'm a musician too, lol.
Yeah, I've got about a million vids, lol. Lulu is an album self respected by Metallica, as the album was for them. However, imo they should have kept it to themselves. It's like Metallica just kinda messing around on the Guitars and drums while Lou Reed is really drunk and thinking he's a Rock Star in the shower, lmao. {:-D I respect it as it's something artistic for themselves, but I don't respect that they went public with it. They are Metallica and shouldn't have done that.
@mechaghostman2 i don't normally correct people like this but Metallica's 1st 4 albums are Thrash, Self-Titled is just regular old Heavy Metal w/ blues rock and thrash mixed in, Load & ReLoad are the same but w/ less thrash, St. Anger was kind of experimental i don't exactly know what to call it but it sure as hell ain't Nu Metal!
Thrash is Metal mixed with Punk. Mater is BARELY Thrash as there isn't very much Punk in it. Master was their last Thrash album until Death magnetic, and Magnetic is a bit toned down Thrash too. AJFA isn't Thrash but heavy, BA is Heavy mixed with blues (toned down version of AJFA) and Load and Reload are Hard Rock with some Blues in there. St. Anger not necessarily Nu Metal, but definitely Godsmack type meets Hardcore meets Metallica meets something else.
@mechaghostman2 actually Thrash isn't simply Metal mixed with Punk, Thrash has a distint riffing style and began with bands like Metallica & Slayer who combined the Speed of bands like Motorhead and Venom with the Melody of Bands like Iron Maiden and Diamond Head, Motorhead and Venom combined Metal and Punk, Metallica, Slayer, etc. took it to the next level making thrash, we should just agree to disagree but in my opinion 1st 4 Metallica albums = pure thrash
@TrafficRiot911 Most of Megadeth's albums were thrash as well. In fact Mustaine wrote most of Metallica's Kill'em All and some of the stuff on Ride the Lighting. I like both Metallica and Megadeth, just thought I would clarify that. I don't want to spark a whole debate on which is better.
@mechaghostman2 so what if he did, he's obviously influenced by Metallica... and last time I checked that wasn't a bad thing, plus would you rather him do that or go back to that dumb screaming crap he does on all the other albums, Heafy needs to stick to the Hetfeild like vocals they work for him leave the growling for death metallers who can do it right
No, I like how he's diverse. Singing with heat in the Crusade, and screaming in other albums. He doesn't usually use gutterals (growls) but actual screams. And Metallica screamed in the early days too, just not like that, lmao. Matt has a voice similar to AJFA James. {:-p
@mechaghostman2 actually you are 100% right my friend, i'm just more into the gutteral growls and can't stand that screaming crap that bands like this do, thats why i love this album
@hmzen are you kidding?!?!!? the Crusade is a thrash masterpiece it's better than all trivium's other records put together. in waves and shogun are crap
@DemonizedAlucard i like the first 2 and The Crusade is excellent and to me their best work, i do not care for shogun and in waves much, but i will take back saying they are crap, i just don't like them that much
@365metal Jason Suecof he helped them produce Ascendancy and The Crusade. I guess they liked his playing enough to put it on their albums not really sure but whatever the reason I'm glad they put his solo's in their songs :)
they dont sound like metallica, there influenced by metallica and yeah trivium does say yeahhh alot like hetfield does, but other that, they dont sound like each other.
@LuciaNOS88 haha u noticed that too huh they're like wat metallica was back when cliff was still in the band trivium is the best metal band out there right now can't wait for the new album.
@Sagittarius1208 black tide....their younger, in my opinion have an equally epic sound, and they have only been out for a few years and are about as popular as trivium is now. lol, trivium aint the only metal band out there. there still great, dont get me wrong, but i am not sure about the best. =\
This reminds me of some crazy cross between Queensryche, Skid Row, and Disturbed. Good shit, they should do more songs like this, none of that metalcore bullshit.
