  • I always had a hard time translating what Donald's saying

  • amazing show im brave but im careful im so lold in childhood

  • 5:44 "What the f**k! I didn't know!" ???

  • @TheMCzorro

i think he said, thats a fine how do you do

  • After all these years, I have watched many Disney movies as a child of 4 years old. But this--this is the only one I remembered the most.

  • Happy Halloween.

  • Ahh, the glory animation days of disney: Pre-Pixar!!!! And this one in particular is a classic Halloween viewing tradition.

  • Who ya gonna call?

  • 1:00 is the sound I make when taking a dumb from that night before

  • The ghosts was finally named in the 2010 video game, Epic Mickey. Their names are Gibert, Gabriel, Ian and Screechin' Sam.

  • No surprise that's one of the inspirations for Ghostbusters. Even Goofy said "I ain't afraid no ghost".

  • hey!

why at 3:59-4:00 is it edited that quick?

  • 6:08 Does bustin' make you feel good, Goofy?

  • I haven't seen this in (probably) 20 years! I was sooo scared each time I saw this as a 7 year old child. Ahahaha.. but I watched it countless times anyway. I still love it. You can not imagine the overflowing memories that are coming back to me! I've been smiling all throughout this vid. Thank you for uploading it and making my night <3

  • @daivy I was 7 or 8 when I first saw this one but I was never scared by it, I thought it was HILARIOUS, especially when they're tormenting Mickey and come up playing Yankee Doodle Dandy and surfing, crazy stuff man, but I love it!

  • 5:06 That joke never gets old

  • Oh yeah, anyone else here notice a few similarities to Ghostbusters here? When they get thier "first customer" and Goofy's "I ain't afraid of no ghosts"? Hmm...

  • Looked this up on here after seeing the "shorter" version on the Disney Channel the other day with my friends kid. I had this recorded on VHS back in the 80's. I think the show was called Disney Time on BBC 1? lol The quality in the animation is literally gobsmacking when you consider it's Pre-WWII 1937/1938. No computers, no hypnotic bright flashing lights. Just bare-bones human talent and hard work. Quality!

  • Lol wow I use to have this on vhs and wud watch it all the time when I was little! Great memories.

  • 5:57

    Fucking lol'd

  • The quote is "So you can't take it, you big sissies!

  • Anyone remember the Fisher Price Movie Viewer with the yellow cartridges? That was my first exposure to this cartoon...and was/is one of my favorites!

  • @vinylrecord68 Indeed. My friend had it. I wore out his copy of Lonesome Ghosts. Good times, good times.

  • they should send the guys from ghost hunters into that house

  • Comment removed

  • I love how fast goofy's mood changes when the mouse trap lands on his nose.

  • The Goofy & the drawer moment is the best. I have this on VHS--tho I don't know if I still have it.

  • I love Donald! He's so cute!

  • i LOVE HOW DONALD "SNORES" LOL! CUTENESS :D

  • Oh man, i just love these old school cartoons, they are so funny, and more entertaining than the ones that are on Disney Channel now, stupid kids acting all stupid and giving our children something to look up to, but these cartoons, they know they are fake and will always watch them, like we used to do!

  • Any idea what Donald is saying after he gets water poured on his head?

  • let me tell you somefing - i was 8 we lived in a flat my dad bought this for me amazing i had a fisher price film thingy what innovation real cool device point it at the light and watch a cartoon amazing stuf that.. ahh childhood dreamz

  • "A customer?"

  • LMAO goofy's the best

  • this is a great new level to the mirror scene like the Marx brothers

  • disney channel played this for halloween yesterday and totally ruined it

  • I loved playing this in the video game "Mickey Mania"

  • old cartoons will always be the best

  • old everything is the best

  • Bugger all! They cut out the scene when Mickey tries to shoot the ghost! (3:59).

Otherwise intact, and still a great spooky little tale. I watch every year at Halloween . . .

  • Yep. :0( They didn't want kids to mimic the ghost's tactic of sticking one's fingers in the barrel of a gun to make it misfire and go limp.

  • 0:24...oops

  • Why the hell is the "Halloween Haunts" collection not on DVD? They have a small Christmas one on DVD! If you added Skeleton Dance onto that collection it would be the most awesome, fantabulous DVD collection of all time lol.

When I have kids I'm not letting them watch the Disney Channel. Only DVDs lol

  • Few monts until Halloween!

  • yep cool

  • 5:12 lmao.

  • Thank you SOOO much for uploading this. :D

  • THIS TAKES ME BACK!

  • jaysus,relax!

  • Mickey, Goofy and Donald - the ORIGINAL ghostbusters!

  • Does anybody know the name of the artist who supplied the ghostly screams and groans? The sound effects were reused on the Disney LP: "Chilling Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House"

  • I think if they were to do a modernized version of this short, Mickey would say "Ghost Exterminators, We Exterminate Ghosts."

  • aw such a great memories, i had this recorded in vhs and in my view master too.

  • An artistic masterpiece. They dont paint backgrounds like that anymore. ITs a thing of beauty. Gotta see a pristine transfer on DVD though, if someone makes it properly. Youtube does not do it justice. Love the voice work.

  • Goory i mean. sorry

  • 3:32

    Goffy says, "Oh-ouch!"

  • 5:30- "Well, I'll be the son of a gun."

Wow, I can't believe Donald Duck actually said that. Sigh, I miss the good ol' Walt Disney and Looney Tunes shorts.

  • I thought I'd never see all these classic cartoons again. They haven't been shown on TV for donkeys years. I've been sitting tonight watching loads of these. Wonderful.

  • ghost scared of ghost ? lol

  • The ghosts scared of ghosts is ironic/funny. As a kid, I kind of wandered why those ghosts were scared of other ghosts

Some Disney films do deal with the occult. So who knows Mickey, Donald and Goofy, might look like some ass kicking ghosts.

  • I had this on tape from some compilation show called "Goofy's Guide to Success."

  • What did Donald say before he said "You big sissies".

  • It sounds like he says "We were fantastic, you big sissies!" or -"Well if that calls it, you big sissies!"

Feel free to suggest what he said. This is the 1920's way of speaking after all.

  • Hold on, it sounds like "What was you scared of? You big sissies!"

  • @rjd279 I always heard "So you can't take it, you big chickens!"

  • @rjd279 I'm pretty sure it's "So you can't take it, you big sissies!"

  • @rjd279 Actually I had a Disney halloween recorded to a VHS that I watch every year and the closed caption on it said that Donald says "So you can't take it? You big sissies!"

  • it sounded like "so u can't take it"

  • @77J So ya can't take it? Ya big sissies! ;)

  • who voices the ghosts? does anyone know, sometimes it sounds as if its only one person. ?????

  • Who are you going call?! Ajax Ghost Exterminators!!!

  • When Mickey,Donald and Goofy got covered in molasses and flour not only did that scare the ghosts it scared me too.

  • I think why the ghosts were so scared was because when they were poured with molasses, flour covered them and the ghost thought they were real.

    Is that correct, rjd279?

  • It's deeper than that.

The ghosts were so jaded and bored. They called some ghost-hunters and thought they eventually scared them to death.

Donald, Goofy and Mickey looked like a more ominous undead apparition.

    A level 50 ghost, compared to a level 20...

  • I think these ghost are far more idiotic and stupid than scary

  • This came out 50 years before I was born...but this is so cool and entertaining. Is it OK that I like this?

  • With the exception of very old people. This cartoon was way before most of our times.

I don't see why it wouldn't be ok for us to enjoy it. It's a great cartoon.

  • Its 1937. Correct me if im right.

  • Those are some rather cheeky ghosts. XD

Old school Disney cartoons are the best.^^

  • LMAO MY FAVERIT EPISOde makes me lauge a lot lol

  • Did you know what this November is Mickey Mouse's 80th birthday?

  • Surprisingly, the company Disney themselves really didn't acknowledge it. Guess they are more concerned about High School Musical & Hanna Montanna rather then thier own mascot (Walt himself must be rolling in his grave about now).

  • Goofy: "I know you! You're a ghost!"

  • This has been my favorite Disney short film since I was a kid. I'm only 19, but the classic Disney was the best Disney.

Thank you so much for this upload.

  • What on earth does donald say between 5:40 and 5:48

  • "What kind of a place is this? They can't do that to me!.. that's a fine how do you do..!"

  • "What kind of a place is this?...They can't do this to me!....(Water comes out of hat) That's a fine thing to do!" :D

  • @Theinstant "What kind of a place is this? They can't do that to me! (SPLASH) That's a fine how-do-you-do!"

  • @Theinstant He says 'You can't do that to me! That's a FINE how do you do?!'

  • @Theinstant "So you can't take it, you big sissies!"

  • Awesome, thanks for posting

  • It is the Halloween season once again...

    BOO!

Don't look in the mirror after 12:00am and don't mess with corners that never see light.

  • a good video

  • goofy is so retarded

  • OMG. I havent seen this episode in about 10 yrs. It's in my top 5 favorite. Its so funny. The new horrible cartoons of today do not compare at all to these old good classics that were actually funny and entertaining. They should definitely produce them again.

  • What about the Spielberg cartoons in the 90s? Or Foster's Home? Don't turn a blind eye to things today just because they weren't from your time. Shit didn't exactly smell like roses back then either.

  • u idiot. cant u read right? i said the cartoons of today (current and very recent years). i did like the Pinky and The Brain and some of the other Spielberg cartoons

  • "Well, I'll be a son of a gun!" LOL :D

  • hehehe u thought iwas gunna say so-sonnofabitch didnt ya?

  • YOSHITEDINO123: lol... good ol' Porky.

  • I also remember this...my mom back in the 80s loved taping these kinds of shows lol (she had to toss the tape out a few yrs later) I still remember this and a few yrs back I got this and the Trick or Treat cartoon on Halloween Haunts lol...I wish it was 20 yrs ago lol

  • at 3:58, I noticed the scene where Mickey attempts to use his gun at the ghost was cut.

The scene involved Mickey about to blast the ghost with a shotgun but the ghost sticks his fingers in the barrel and the gun just explodes and Mickey then drops his gun and goes after the ghost.

  • Yes. I remember this uncensored scene. Ty for the thought. It refreshs my mind :D

  • eccezionale, quanti ricordi!

  • i got a question for everyone, who did the voices for the ghosts?i searched almost everywhere and i cant find the cast for the ghosts.

  • of course every person who provided the voices for their characters when it all began are always going to top the guys who do the voices today.

  • Walt Disney's voice for Mickey Mouse is so much better then that stupid Wayne Allwine!!

  • I have seen this episode on the movie mickey's house of villians.

  • Truly a classic!!!!

  • always good to see Donald getting paddled! my personal highlight!

  • In every mickey and gang cartoon, Goofy always the stole the show and this cartoon is no exception!

  • This classic cartoon was released three days after Snow white and the Seven Dwarfs.

  • (SIGH) wat happened to these cartoons they were d best

wat happened to the classics? n d world i knew when i was a kid? damn advancement n d future thingy!

  • i use too watch this ever time it came, but they never come on anymore.

    THANKS!!!:)

  • This episode would be a great inspiration for a world in Kingdom Hearts

  • i have this video on tape i used to watch these cartoons when i was little when my aunt would babysit me i always told my aunt to put the video on while she was changing my diaper i miss being a baby girl (my user name is latino man because that`s my dad`s tradition)

  • i like the mickey cartoons where his eyes are just dots , this one is great

  • Has anyone noticed that the ghosts kind of look like Jerry Bruckheimer?

  • My parents had this!

  • These old Disney-episodes are so much more charming and better than the new ones.

  • these are some of the best cartoons, blows todays crap away

  • I remember this one :D, love it...

  • Thanks rjd279!!!! This is one of my all time favorite cartoons, and it was so cool to read jerryaltman's comment, about him and his brother having the same toy me and my brother had... although he says he doesn't remember it. INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!

  • No problem. It is cool that so many people enjoy the cartoon as much as I do.

Sorry for the late reply. :)

  • I remamber my brother and I had a toy that played 8mn films segment, was called mini cine. A kind of portable kinetoscope in form of toy. This cartoon and another was the films we watched on that device, and was amazinf to role the crank and ahd animation moving according it.

  • So we had the neutered Disney view finders?

I'm doing my donald voice (duck), on for one frame of film.

  • It'd be cool to see this on film.

Storing shit by bits...has me down.

When I first seen this. Teachers had to load projectors and put in a sound tape...it had to be in time with the movie.

They seemed to fuck it up though.

  • I had that toy too!!!!!!!!!!! It's so cool to know about another person having it too! Haha, it's just that this was one of my favorite Mickey shorts, and I loved that toy, because you could make the movie go slow, or backwards, and project it everywhere you wanted!!!! And in the size you wanted!!! It was AMAZING... I really wish I had one!! I remember I used to watch the cartoons reaaaaally small, or very big. AWESOME!! GREETINGS!!!!

  • I say that is cool to know about another person that had the same toy, because as I grew up, I told about it to my friends, and none knew about it... Thought it was weird, because for me it was amazing. I was like 3-4 years when I used to play with it, now I'm 27, 28 in 4 months... AMAZING...

  • I had one also....thats what made me look on here for this cartoon

  • I too had the Fisher Price Movie Viewer, and this cartoon (an edited version anyway) was the default cartridge included with it... I loved to crank the thing backwards and make the ghosts jump back in the window, or Goofy and the dresser shoot back up the stairs.

You can probably find them on eBay.

  • I had one in the late 70s, no sound but fun to watch anyhow.

  • SHA1OM: That thing was so much fun! My lil sis got it for her birthday in `77, with two other cartridges: Cinderella and the Donald Duck short "Good Scouts."

But I played with it a hundred times more than she did, examining each frame, marvelling at "animation" itself, and yes, running them backwards! :-)

    Man, that takes me back!

  • This was released the same time "Snow White" came out.

  • what year was this?

  • 1937

  • this is my favorite disney cartoon.

its funny how none of them are realistic and all blown way out of proportion, but thats the reason why i love them!!

    thanks for posting!

  • HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!!!

I hope your enjoy the video.

  • rjd279, Why didn't things work out as planned?

  • Cause they weren't afraid of no ghosts...

  • Lol. I don't know why that made me think of Ghostbusters just then

  • rjd279, I think the real reason why things didn't work out as planned because they got covered in molasses and flour and scared the crap out of the real ghosts.

  • You spoiled a 71 year old cartoon.

    Is that even possible?

  • Four green phantoms want some fun, so they invite ghostbusters Mickey, Donald, and Goofy over to their haunted home with the aim of driving them crazy. But things don't work out as planned.

  • Hehe, you have the job for this video's description.

    ^look for it.

  • Is Billy Bletcher voiceing one of the ghosts?

  • one of the best

  • this is one of my favorite cartoons from disney, this brings me back to my youth. So nostalgic

  • Not that it has anything to do with this particular film, but don'tcha love the way Mickey and Donald compliment each other visually? Mickey's black, Donald's white. The mouse wears red, the duck wears blue. It's a pleasing color arrangement.

  • I never really noticed. But now that you mention it. They are pretty distinct and make a nice contrast (well besides being a duck and a mouse).

  • i been looking for this cartoon for 30 years

  • Best Disney cartoon ever. :)

  • great

  • I personally think Pinto Colvig did a better voicing as goofy in this cartoon and other goofy cartoons than that stupid Bill Farmer.

  • awesome

  • I recall that, a while back here on YouTube, there was a version of this video set to the "Ghostbusters" theme song.

  • Yeah, I think that was a Halloween special. I think it was called Disney's Halloween Treat.

  • Doesn't Goofy actually say "I'm not afraid of no ghosts" at one point? Very close.

  • Yup. That was Ghost busting, Disney-style!

  • Actually, it's "I ain't a-scared of no ghosts" that Goofy says. Pretty much the same phrase as the Ghostbusters song. Coincidence, direct influence, or a catch phrase I don't know about?

  • The video skips back to the beginning at 24 seconds. It plays fine from there.
