Brilliant actors, but what makes this movie epic..compared to anything else? Is it because white ppl supposedly gave birth to black children? I wonder would it be seen in the same light had the mother mentioned she slept with an african male...and the children are actually biracial? Boring..right?
Skin was on BBC Two the other week. I agree - it is a very powerful and moving movie. Also, noticed My Sister's Keeper at 2:08 - another emotional movie to consider
It was a good movie, but they forgot to mention that Sandra was 15 when she started seeing her Pietrus. Any parent would be irate! I understand she as going where she felt comfortable, but in her quest for identity she was taking huge risks. I liked the movie a lot! I wish they had better distribution here in the United States.
It's supposed to be released the end of this month in the US but any theatre in my area won't get it till the end of November so look up your area theatres online they should list their upcomming movies.
I have seen the film 3 times during it's short run in the West End. Sophie Okonedo, Alice Krige, Sam Neil and the south african actors Tony Kgoroge and Ella Ramangwane give absolutely Oscar Winning type performances. The story is about family relationships and how man made prejudice and political power can distort and destroy these.
It is the most amazing example of how irrelevant skin colour actually is...and it comes at a time when this could not be more pertinent...the USA saved by democratic elections that produced the right candidate regardless of background.

The film has been picked up by German TV (ARD) but we would love to see it get a theatrical distribution - spread the word!
