y wud someone put this American 757 taking off from manchester vid in a Russian YaK 42 vid? i know that theyre both have in common tht they're aircrafts but 757 and YaK 42 and YaK 40 are totally different planes
I know that it is like some Federal Regulation to have all lights strobes, landing, taxi, etc. to be on the runway because they think it will avoid A/C collisions
@USflying yes it is part of regulations but to have the lights on but not to flash them on and off like that u put them on leave them on... so which means he was signaling the spotters
Flew in one from MIA to SDQ and a week later from SDQ to MIA on American.. Older jets but nice ride. I'll hate it when they retire these ladies. Comfortable and roomy for a narrow bodied plane.
I Love Flying!!!! I Live Right Next To A Airport and I Love Looking at Planes Taking off! I am Going to Mexico July 1st 2011! Too bad It Is over a year away! D:
@yehend I've noticed many American Airlines Pilots spool up just before going into a turn on the taxi way, although I believe here the pilot was preforming a rolling takeoff.
No, you are of course right. The 757 is no way reated to the 787 - the 767 perhaps, though. As far as engines go - I'm not so sure. I admit to liking RR because I used to live near the factory. So, I presume Americans feel the same for GE and P&W. Do airlines only choose products on merit basis? Isn't there just a bit nationalistic play, with so much prestige and money involved?
Have to disagree, as an American. I pick based on merits, not some sort of national pride, and my favorite engine is Rolls Royce (along with most pilots I know). I also prefer Boeing, and not because it's made in the U.S., but because they build a better plane than Airbus. My favorite set-up would be the 757 with RB211's
I would like to become a pilot too, either a pilot or a doctor. I plan to fly for Southwest, United or Delta though if I do become one. I'm awful scared with my ADHD I'll do something wrong, but Idk.
Yes, about that, it's normal when do that, means they were cleared to take off before reaching the runway. Is taking advantage of the time. Also on busy airports, you gotta maneuver fast when going to or leaving a runway. Half of the takes off I am on SDQ, pilots starts engine right before finish the turning on the runway.
The 787 is an updated 757 as seen here. AA ordered RB211 engines for their 757's and have never looked back. But, AA have now ordered GE for upto 100, 787's. I hope this decision was taken only on the grounds of merit/commercial reasons and not political/nationalistic reasons. We don't want Airbus 350-RR Trent only and Boeing 787 GE, one to counteract the other. Keep the skies open and fair and let competition for its own sake - flourish.
@grassroot3 they ended production on the '57 in 2004, last unit going to Signapore airlines, the 787 design overlaps that of the 757 and thus replaces it. Your point indeed is legitimate but I am guessing that since Boeing wants a USAF Contract to replace their aging 707 and DC10-based tankers, and they plan to use the 767s (legitimizing their continued production)
The 787 is in no way related to the 757, except for being built by Boeing. AA doesn't order engines based on political/nationalistic reasons! AA has rolls on its 757 and 777, GE on it's 767 and 737 (not 100% on this one) and P&W on it's MD-80's. To suggest that picking GE is somehow political is contrary to past practices.
@MrExspert Correction on my response.........AA used to have 757's with Pratts. Considering I have never seen one with winglets, I researched the subject and found out these are no longer in their fleet. The 57's with Pratts were of course from TWA.
especially with the metallic finish, watching climb out with sun hitting her just right the shinning effecy is beautiful and dont forget the vortex landing in low visibility.
@MrExspert: I think it is more like a man -> the older it gets, the more people tend to like it!! :) The CASM has improved significantly the last couple of years when flying times on the 757 rose from an average 3 hours to 5 hours now (thank to the transatlantic flights). 737-900 and A321 CASMs are much better for short flights.
There is no doubt the big jets are the most beautiful machines man ever built! For their awesome weight, speed and power they are soooo graceful in everything they do even just watching them taxiing makes my heart skip many a beat
I flew on an airbus...i work for a company that flies boeing...airbus makes to much "noise" when you sit near the wings....i have to tell you that the 757 is a sexy plane....its an awesome aircraft...i was sad to hear they don't build them anymore....
757 power and acceleration is astonishing. In this movie AA's 757 is probably very heavy because flight to US is a long one for this airplane. Yet it accelerates with so a ease. Beautfiul bird.
I ride the JFK-SDQ route. Since the A300s are gone(I am gonna miss them so much), I'll be flying the B767s. But the B757 is my favorite aircraft, I love it, don't get me wrong, I like the 767 as well. I just don't understand why won't they use the B757s either.

*Does Americans enjoy flying because of the feeling of freedom in the sky?
*Why does aviation technology and development is so advance in USA?
*How does flying related to lifestyle of Americans?
*How does the Americans Values related to aviation advancement in USA?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

In America we depend of air travel because of the distances we have to travel and the time we need to save in order to do business. It's wasted time to drive for 20 hours when we can spend a little more on airfare and get business done faster. Other countries have advanced aviation technology too: Airbus of some European countries; Russia with their new technology, and now China is creating new commercial aircraft. it's all good!

It simultaneously scares me and astounds me that we could make something so big and heavy fly.

The 737-900 or -900ER is practically the same plane.
unclecoolie 2 years ago
true,... unfortunately snce the 787 is replacing the '57 but a middle eastern airline requested a longer '37 w/ more range so... mobey talks

It's not only AA.
Continental uses her 757 on route Hamburg-Newark and Delta actually on route Frankfurt-Atlanta.

How do you know so much about planes?
Zeyad1997 2 years ago
Well Zeyad1997, the answer to your question. It's easy, when someone's into something, it's easy to want to know more about that something.
