  • This was most likely the standard bumper for all CBS affiliates during those years, so your area probably had one back then.

  • Do you think it would be possible if you could find a full opening and full closing with this full super dramatic orchestral remix? And did they ever play this version with sponsors before the second half of the show? :)

  • I know others have posted them already.

  • The answer to your second question is yes, but only for a few weeks in September 1988. I have posted an audio (sorry, I don't have video) clip of it.

  • And the episode where Iva told Lily she was her mother not Lucinda Walsh was the 1987 show I was talking about earlier.

  • This orchestral remix heard here was on the opening/mid program break and the closing logos and the episode was from 1987!

  • I assume this is in regard to your comment about the rebroadcast of Lily;s adoption revelation.

  • Some people don't believe this version of the theme was never used for the opening/closing visuals but I know it was because. Many years ago back when cbs did the holiday classic episodes, They showed an episode of atwt when lily was told by Iva that she was adopted and that she was her mom not Lucinda Walsh.

  • Why would people believe it was "never used" when it ran for 4 and a half years?

  • I almost got into a arguement with someone on their atwt page which features a bumper from 1988 July except it didn't have this theme on it it had a harpsichord theme playing in which he stated it was orchestral when you can clearly hear the harpsichord. Im wondering if rebroadcasts are merely reediting the opening/midprogram/closing visuals with the second harpsichord theme and why would they do that? what's wrong with this full orchestral remix?

  • I can't answer that. You'll have to contact CBS.

  • There was no harpsichord in the orchestral...for the last freaking time!

  • As The World Turns On and On changed to the orchestral remix between November and December 1984 on the opening only but became part of the midprogram break and closing around March 1985. For some reason As The World Turns loves to reedit the opening and closing on rebroadcasts with the second harpsichord version.

  • I think the techno version while it still sounds good I think of it as a watered down unbridged variation of the dramatic orchestral remix using almost all synthesized instruments. On the orchestral remix the only part that is play by synthesizer is the opening/closing cosmic glissando. I love the bumpers!

  • This is the orchestra remix of the theme song that was used as the closing from 1985-1988 on the original broadcasts. It was used as the part two theme through early 1993 before the title and theme song change. I wonder how the closing version sounded.

  • Don't you mean the synthesized remix of the orchestral version? The orchestra was dropped in 1988.

  • So Good.

  • Before 1988, the first mid-program bumper would always feature two sponsor announcements read by ATWT's announcer, Dan Region. The show switched to the shorter bumper format around September 1988, just a few weeks after the third mix debuted.

When ATWT changed its theme music and graphics in February 1993, the new bumper logo was made small enough to accommodate station IDs.
