You're thinking of the sport/exhibition wushu, the art/technique of wushu itself is the exact same thing as chinese kung fu. In fact: Wǔshù literally means "martial art". It is formed from the two words 武術: 武 (wǔ), meaning "martial" or "military" and 術 (shù), which translates into "discipline", "skill" or "method."

@PerfectChaosZeta the reason why i'm mad is stated in my previous post. and i don't know what happy sun shiny place you live in, but where i live there are a lot of narrow minded shits. THERE ARE people who call sport wushu "chinese martial arts" but in reality it's just a lot of running and prancing around. they learn the moves but they have no idea what the moves mean or what it's for. one guy even came up to me and said "oh, i just do it because it looks cool". THAT is not martial arts AT ALL

@PerfectChaosZeta bottom line: kung fu and wushu are separate in my eyes. wushu may literally mean MARTIAL ART, but in reality it is used to describe the modern demonstrative sport. although "kung fu" means "hard work", it's used to describe the actual chinese martial arts. you calling chinese martial arts "wushu" is what i consider to be an insult despite "wushu" literally meaning "martial art". i may be an asshole, but i know what the fuck i'm talking about.
