  • many artist disagree with your stylus comment

  • Stylus anything = Pure Epic FAIL.

If you don't agree, you are either +40 years old and/or are totally retarded.

Trying to use/adapt "real word" concepts with otherwise useful technological improvements only leads to half-assed shit like this.

Why would you want to limit yourself to only one point of contact (read: Stylus)?!?

Loose the phallic symbol and fain efficiency with actually properly designed/implemented adaptive/corrective multi-touch input...

  • @toulouse666 its better than nothing.

  • @toulouse666

Dude, don't be so stupid, you can use your fingers or the stylus. Adding the stylus just gives you more possibilities not less. Some things like writing and drawing are not possible with your fingers but are with a stylus.

I just ordered the Galaxy Note as well. Seems nice.

  • I thought it got canceled...

  • iPad is like a broken book (in half). This dual tablet is the real deal. Hope it will be 2 15 inch, so we can get a simulated A4/Letter full size format. THEN, the tablet concept is perfect. All below A4/Letter format for a tablet is in my view a complete waste of technology and money.

  • HHHDDD.tk

    free HD Wallpapers

  • It's a shame that Microsoft cancelled this project. It had (has) the ability to change educational and business productivity.

  • What happened to this tablet?? People is still waiting!!

  • Were not living in the future were living just behind the present. The idea of the ipad has been around for 10 years, but no one decided to market it, but apple finally got it out in 2010. And we still use books, and paper for things is insane, like in the 1950s, thats insane. We have so much technology for the future but were still living in the past because of none of it is out. Very archaic in deed!! It makes me sad.

  • I hope they make it pressure sensitive for drawing

  • Gimme!!!

  • Microsoft will not launch this to the market since windows 7 required high spec to run as smooth as Ipad does.. maybe they will wait till the new OS released to the market, and yeah it'll be windows 8.. but according to its advertisement it will come out on 2012..

  • @ChloeeMx ,hes irish!cant you tell?

  • Hi everyone. I'm sorry to say that Microsoft has announced that they are no longer making / designing this product. I really couldn't see why. I think that just about everyone in thier right mind would prefer this to windows mobile seven series.

  • you have big ears btw.

    ahahaha =]

  • so is this being replaced with the HP slate since it runs on windows 7 operating system?

  • Comment removed

  • microsoft fucked up hard by cancelling it =| they woulda DOMINATED apple's Ipad with this.

  • @epicfatman

    Agree!

  • @epicfatman TRUE

  • i DONT AGREE

  • hope it has USB +bluetooth + good internal memory

would love it more if you can play wow on it xD

  • this is more for business use while the ipad is along the lines of entertainment

  • Microsoft GJ!

  • The iPad is so amazing you guys don't even know.

  • Just watched the Gizmodo video of Courier. Noticeable lag consistently during the shoe/Nike example. Not brilliant, its a netbook with touch/stylus capability, not a tablet. MS is actually going to brand this thing, MS Courier? Or, have HP or Sony, etc. build and market it. MS is a software company( with shite OS ), save for the Zune-FAIL, and the XBox 360(google "red circle of death" to check the quality of that heap). Oh, and a stylus. Best be styli, as you will lose them. Uninspired ripoff.

  • I agree with everything u said haha. Suscribed!

  • this thing not even out!!!!!!!!!!!! why? Microsoft is lazy and uninspired

  • Why talk so much if you don't know a thing yet!

Microsoft imperium finally cracking up last decade....Apple, Google (android).....why, because they make stuff for old people who spend their entire life behind a desk and don't know shit about the world and still bla bla bla about the amazing greatness of Microsoft! Wake up, the new age started 10 years ago!

  • this is going to be a big win for Microsoft..

  • even if honestly think this "secret tablet" looks amazingly better than the ipad, i still bugs me the idea that it will come AFTER the ipad. It keeps maintaining the idea of microsoft as the eternal Mac "copycat" thats sad.

  • @roxelb It's like the Surface, the idea was presented to Bill Gates in 2003 and a prototype ikea table was made within a month.

Yet now, I see people on Microsoft surface vids saying "wow, that looks like an iPad rip-off!".

    Aaargh, they piss me off.

  • I hate you.

  • I want it!

  • This would kill i it had an ebook reader on it

  • there is on;y one problem it runs windows...

  • Doesn't matter how good it looks, its all pre-rendered video so it aint real......

  • Seems good - have a downloaded text book on one page and take notes on another.

Sit in a lecture or meeting and jot notes, pull up previous projects or things you have done if relevant.

Sat on a bus, jot stuff down, look on the web, watch video or listen to fill. See something interesting write, take piccie and send to your blog / journal,,,,

Exactly what I have been looking for,

  • I like it. Must have it

  • show me the real one, not a fake one man. Don't believe these unreal videos otherwise you'll fall from the sky lol

  • go up to your address bar, put the letter "Q" between the words you and tube and then press enter or click go

  • lol noob. touchscreens have been around since the early 90's. This is just a touchscreen booklet.

  • srsly... if they can just control the hinges connecting those two screen... we can have a 100% touchscreen laptops... no buttons, just screens

  • gawd i hope either the iPad's bookshelf or the Courier has text books. I hate carrying 50lb/s on my back! D:

  • the hp slate that runts win 7 has a amazon app for books.. if the app is just for windows then its posible that it runs on this too...

    just speculating tho' =P

  • @mrfindful That would be an exellent feature, I read about one US University that was giving iPads to students, can't remember which one though.

More features like textbooks would definitely make me buy an iPad, for now though, there's not much room to fill between my Vaio P and my iPhone.

Hell, the iPad is even heavier than the P.

I like the iPad, just not enough to pay $499 for one.

  • @mrfindful Couldn't agree more! I will go back to college once textbooks have a search bar, bookmarking, copy/pasting, and don't cost me a dollar per page =)

  • 20$ says bengal is the one giving everyone a thumbs down

  • I think the courier is Microsoft's answer to art people using macs for their line of work. Their video clearly shows collaboration and idea gathering.

They also did a good job in showing it as a booklet as it seems much more natural to use than a laptop for that type of stuff.

Whether it will run on Windows? I hope it has it's own OS and be dual OS capable too. There's a lot of great open source tablet software out there.

  • I might hold off on the ipad... I just hope this gets off the ground and I can go and actually play with it at my bust buy or something. I don't want to buy it off blind faith. That's one thing I like about apple that you can go to their retail store, not even buy it and test it out and play with it as long as you like. Atleast you know exactly what your getting before you get it.

  • YOU SAID IT! I MADE THE REALIZATION MONTHS AGO AND YOU'RE THE ONLY OTHER PERSON I'VE HEARD SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT! WE LIVE IN THE FUTURE. THE FUTURE IS RIGHT NOW YEsssssssssssssssssss!

  • I think that bengal needs to do some research on linux and unix. linux is based off of unix. Has nothing to do with Microsoft. Linux is a open source program. and the linux kernel was designed by a fiinnish science student. People research your opinons before you put your dumbass foot in your mouth. and when a microsoft or linux Executive comes and says where linux is based from i wont believe the shit coming from a guy sitting behind a tech desk. ZDoom knows what he is talking about.

  • Considering what a massive dissapointment the iPad has turned out for me, I would welcome Microsoft's take on tablet computing.

  • I'm a 4th semester multimedia designer and the courrier looks amazing for my line of work. A lot of tools for design/idea processing and extras for spare time. I don't care who makes this as long as it's made.

  • Is Microsoft capable of making such brilliance?!

  • NOOOOOO! THEY WILL CRASH AND BURN!!!!

  • google made droid

  • you will be more amazed after you take a trip around Japan.

  • Indeed. I was a Macfan until the iPad. I just came to the realization that Apple just comes out with the name things, and overprice their stuff. Microsoft Courier will rock

  • @TerraSanctus having the ipad be a bigger ipod is the point! i guess if u go with that the courier is just a big windows phone, right? that's the point your trying to make.

  • @lukemoen2 no, not even close to a big windows phone. this is completely different os, completely different hardware, completely different ideology.

  • @venom55520 And with the exception of the os, the same is true for the iPad.

  • @lukemoen2 really, i didn't know the ipad was dual-screen. even if the os was the only difference, what good is it? it's like a big iphone, what's the point? not even flash support.

  • @venom55520 Well flash sucks balls so it doesn't matter

  • @lukemoen2 you don't realize how stupid of a comment you just made. yes flash sucks, but it runs basically every app on the net, good luck only being able to watch youtube. nothing else.

  • @venom55520 Well in the next couple years won't matter cuz HTML5 will take control. And quite a few sites have already converted to it.

  • @lukemoen2 that's gonna be a lot more than "a couple years" and its software isn't open enough, that's the problem with the ipad.

  • @venom55520 The Courier doesn't have Flash support either, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T EXIST!!

  • @overvision well not anymore, they just canceled it. there was a prototype though.

  • @venom55520 That's my point, we get all hyped over prototypes, while downplaying actual products that exist. I mean how easy is it to drool over imaginary, conceptual, vapor-ware devices, while finding nothing but fault in "real" products?

  • The iPad is lame, the Courier is wicked awesome. iPad shows very little innovation, no USB port etc. The Courier, on the other hand, owns.

However, I would have to say that it will not be standardization of OS's that will cause the most change. It will be standardization of file formats. That is all, as many companies will fight for freedom of choice, and so divisions develop.

  • 2 * 7" screen is 14". it's bigger but they flip\close to have that size, thus the storage is 7". with the stylus, this looks better, and far more importantly - better practicalitity. Watching the IPAD feature vs. this one, Courrier wins - hands down

  • @bengal85932 lol funny how your comment stand out like a sore thumb. how is it too big!? microsoft haven't copied apple at all with it they announced their tablet before apple. you will find apple copy microsoft more then the other way around. don't post like a fanboy with fictionful comments

  • Yes, they announced it. Did they say that that is the absolute final product? No, they said its a prototype. Now is when they make their changes, putting in a usb port and multitasking. And your wrong about copying. Apple came out with the best mp3 player, and microsoft made zune. Apple came out with the first (and arguably best) smartphone, microsoft made droid. And Microsoft ripped off apples operating system! Thats the only reason there is a windows computer. You dont see apple making an xbox

  • I'm like 100% sure that Microsoft has been making touch screen tablet computers long before Mac has even announced them officially... prolly because they have

  • yes, and they've all been epic fails. Never once did one have a custom user interface, but now that apple took that path, Microsoft is copying them

  • They're shipping in 60 days, Hardly time to "fix" it, any additional features will most likely come in later generations.

Apple did make a games console, it was fail.

  • i meant now Microsoft is going to add the things the iPad doesnt have

  • and apple never came out with a game console, look it up.

  • @Bengal85932

Wow I didn't think anyone had the level of stupidity you have... Microsoft did not make the Droid Motorola did. Secondly, Apple did not make the first smartphone, HTC has been making Windows Mobile smartphones long before Apple thought about getting into the game, let's not forget Blackberry, and Nokia with Symbian. I don't know where you get your obviously incorrect information. But you may wanna check your sources before making yourself look like an idiot. Also iPad is final.

  • Are you stupid, ive answered this question already. THE COURIER ISNT FINAL. Now is when Microsoft is going to add things to the courier that the iPad doesnt have. The iPhone was the first smartphone of its caliber, not the first, i know. And motorola and the droids user interface is an adapted/modified/upgraded version of windows mobile. Microsoft gave them the O.K., which is not entirely microsofts craeation, but they never shot it down. Im surprised theyve never taken credit for it! By the way

  • How can Microsoft give them the OK when it is a fucking Android OS made by Google, it is not Windows Mobile at all... Jesus...

  • Motorola and Google use a modified version of windows mobile on the android!!!! They have been ever since the first android phone!

  • Dude you're fucking stupid, Android is a Linux based OS created by Google that has nothing to do with Windows Mobile. Please do the world a favor and drop off the face of the earth, your time would be better served than posting stupid false shit on youtube. Thanks and have a nice day

  • I work for motorola, and i have for 12 years. I sort of know this stuff.

  • No you don't dumbshit. In that case I've worked for Microsoft for over 10 years, and Google for 6.

  • Damn, and all you have to do in your spare time is make fun of people over work-related things. Sounds like you need a life.

  • next time you try to diss someone, make sure that you dont have the wrong information. Retard.

  • Sorry, pal. Linux was not created based on Windows. Maybe the GUIs (or some of them) have the same event-focused architecture (i don't really know linux that well, but i think they are event-focused, like most GUIs), but the Linux kernel was not based on Windows. It was based on Unix. And Windows was created as an extension of MS-DOS.

  • Sounds Like You're the retard thinking Microsoft had anything to do with android. Because if you're claims were true than it would be Microsoft suing HTC (Google) instead of apple, so you need to do some research before you open your mouth

  • I never really opened mouth by the way. But I don't understand why people talk crap about something when they don't even know what's going on. If you look it up, the android operating system is made by google. Correct. But what did google start their very first interface with? It was windows mobile, like I've been saying. look it up nextt time, I'm tired of having complete idiots leave me comments!!

  • Comparing this to what we have seen with the new Apple iFad I'd have to say this device has a TON more real usage potential.

  • gay

  • ahaha!

    DELL...

    lol

  • Nice vid. I can't wait to see this device!

  • Good video. The future is exciting indeed especially if you're the like of Steve jobs

  • @pr9: obviously you don´t know how many people neither are capable of gathering the details nor the context of a thing or situation (means: they´re dumb). The amount of phones you´re talking about since Hitler was capable to sell his stories to way more people than that.

But it´s good to know that so many people can be driven in this or that direction so easily.

The reason for the selling´s rather a social one ("what the other has I must have, too") than a rational one.

  • price??

  • I think it would be cool if the smart boards (those touch screen white board things which most schools have now) could connect wirelessly to the tablet and displays exactly what's going on so you could see it more clearly, that would be cool :)

  • If the casing or the screen´s glossy it will be a failure.

  • @kroflinkristian yeah ok krof just like the ipod touch are iphone are failures with their glossy screens AND cases. That is why apple has sold 17 million iphones and around 20 million ipod touches. Yup

  • Have you ever been outside with a matte screen? And if it is a glass screen how can it not be glossy?

  • Where´s the killapp for this?

  • 4th down YOU #@%$^ HATER

  • The comment about having textbooks on the courier is very interesting. It would definitely be a convienient for margin notes to yourself for classes and such.

  • Microsoft announced it at CES 2010. It is made by HP, but is only a prototype.

  • 6 mins and u said nothing other than this replacing books?! Get a life man. You should have read the books you carried so you could add something more insightful than this non information.

  • Is this man high on pcp?? that's a whole lot of tangents.

  • Shut up Lack you know nothing pu usy

  • what is the point???? that was pointless dude!

  • u talk too much for nothing

  • ****ing Microsoft & HP. They ****ed up this tablet. It looked so AWESOME in the vid. Now it just sucks balls. It's subpar version or what we saw. I wonder what they were thinking.

  • 2012 is going to be a good year

  • NO!!! WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!! lol :D

  • NO SOUP FORRR YOU!

  • @noelsoong777 ya since technology is advancing so freaken fast!

  • They said Its a "Far ways off" At the CES Today

  • hahah every kid will have one 1 they wont trust us 2 itll be like paying for collage in kinder garden itll be like 1000$

  • I can't tell if you're from Dublin or somewhere in America.

  • how can it be a secret when already it is on youtube :) lolz

  • I really hope it runs Windows, i've been looking at a replacement for my netbook in case the cops and counselors can't get it back from the greaseball at my school who stole it.

  • Meh, technology is gonna destroy the world.

  • @superCds64

    and?

  • We truly are living in the future. This decade is going to wow all of us..

  • good reasoning....

  • you dont know when it going to be out the apple tablet that is other thing

  • Pen and paper is archaic?!?! You're so ignorant... I'm amazed people subscribe to your unimportant blabbing BS video blog.

  • Guys, if someone smashes your Apple Tablet you're just as out of luck right before a lecture. Let's talk about technology, not nonsense.

  • i still prefer books and pen. what if the computer crashes the night before your final exam? unless you have a backup computer that has all the data in it, u will be screwed

  • @kelvinella I agree. But if you're going to have one of those, shouldn't there be a like, wireless backup thing UNDER the desk or something? It probably won't be too big, but i hope you know what i mean. A wireless auto-save-backup thing would be great. but i still would prefer to have pen and paper.

  • Perhaps a Microsoft Surface-esque tabletop for the desk? It would sync with your Courier as a backup.

  • I think that giant Surface would be the teachers desk, and all the tablets would be stacked up in the corner to be updated charged and synced with all the homework and information for that day/week. It will be AWESOME!!!

Although i am still thinking about the bully's that will smash tablets from nerds,,...o.O

  • thats true with ANY computer. so make sure u back that shit up.

  • What if you lose your papers? What if an accident occurs? Papers are easy to lose as well, plus, if you've made an error it requires erasing, or White Out which makes it end up looking like shit. With so many font options a computer's work looks far neater and doesn't require completely starting over when you have to write the final draft.

  • I still prefer pen/pencil and paper. Not that I don't like this technology, I'll probably buy it, but will have a genuine notebook in my backpack too. Doesn't that screen have a negative effect on our overall health? and I don't want teacher to send me my assignments on a computer, I want them to be written on the blackboard with chalk dammit ! And I don't want to copy/paste I want to take notes lol. but seriously this would just alienate human relationships even more. YET, I want it :D

  • "It's very archaic that children are still using pens and paper..." Archaic?! What planet are you on?

  • it is definetely in my wishlist. how about the price prediction?

  • @bmbrsh I'm thinking about $400. If it does everything a netbook will do, then it will cost about as much.

  • I think it will be like the cuirior will be like a "notebook computer" while the tablet will be more of a desktop

  • 4-20/10 lol

  • Before 2010. o_O

  • It would be so wonderful if the education system started to properly embrace modern technologies for its students. Right now computer projectors and interactive whiteboards are commonplace in classrooms and are very useful for lessons themselves, but the life of a student is still very much the same.

  • Its very different from Apple tablet really, I don't think that theese ones are competitors, That microsoft courier is much more similar to the XO2 a notebook with two touch screens and low price part of a project called One laptop per child.

And I really don't think that this microsoft Courier will run windows 7.

  • Prob winmo 7...I predict it will be released in Feb, 2010

  • you think the courier will be released this month?? what makes you say that?(damn i hope your right!)

  • Well certainly there is a big con for the product..

If someone mad at you, It will take a few seconds to destroy all college lecture notes , and other things.. :D so beware.. :D

  • This will be wonderful for school. i think the size is perfect and the fact that it isn't trying to be a laptop is perfect. It is a new learning tool

  • I'm short and those damn books hurt my back too. I always thought it was kind of ridiculous to make kids carry 20 or 30 pounds of books.

  • i REALLY want this by the time im in college. its so much more efficient than a pen and paper when you think about it.

  • It whould be nice if it came out in January, When i start college.... i mean it opens and closes like a book. it gonna save so much space..

  • I hope so too. I heard it was releasing in january of 2010. So hopefully it does, its perfect for college.

  • the microsoft surface was pretty awesome, but this will be pretty sick for me because i need something like this for college and high school

  • It does look pretty amazing. I just hope I can write in script (I was never taught how to write in mold).

  • check Win 7's handwriting recog, they have reached the next level.

  • I remember when the internet had these cool 'scroll over' pages, where people were demonstrating futuristic use of html for a changing internet. To think that was really essentially the way of thinking that fuels towards easy, life-ergonomic (if you can merge those words) systems that will effect the very way that we live as a people. the future is awesome. I don't think I'll ever start going backward in time for any decent imaginable reason.

  • see, the popularity of windows opens the world to new technology, thats why apple isnt innovative, there is one apple and if they dont make it no one does.

but windows is open to many manufacturers, so new devices like this are possible.

of course in a few years apple will copy it and all the mactards will say apple invented it

  • Who knows Apple might release theirs before Microsoft so in fact Microsoft will copy Apple... Apple will make theirs more like the macbook air, thin and beveled. I would love having that for school... Just bring a folder, a notebook, and that thing :D thats all you need!

  • I have been using windows tablets for ten years, no way you can claim apple invented this, or can you?

Thats the funny shit with mactards, reality doesnt matter, they will claim apple invented tablets and touchscreens if thier god steve jobs tells them that.

I own a sony x505, yes, thinner then the macbook air, and made in 2004, three years BEFORE the macbook air

  • lol, thats not what is being argued about... No one has made anything like the thing described in this video! If Apple can release something like this with modern technologies and make it cheap and high quality than they beat Microsoft to the punch. Look at the success of the iPhone you can call that there tablet but you can call the thing in this video a digital notebook :D

  • apple make something cheap? thats a laugh

name one thing on this unit that is new

    just one thing

and we are talking about computers, not cell phones. making good cell phones and mp3 players doesnt mean you make good computers.

i always said apple makes the best ipods, lucky for them, because it was the ipod and the iphone that saved them from going bankrupt

  • The newton was essentially a tablet was it not? Im not a Apple fanboy so im not completely sure but i think that is older then 10 years (granted it flopped)

  • actually even though Psion had been making what we call pda's for nine years before the newton came out, the first public use of the term pda was used for the newton. so no, not a tablet, just a huge brick of a pda. I had one, it was crap, a novelty item, no copy and paste.

palm pilots came two years later and drove the newton away.

I think newton was one of the last things steve jobs started before they fired him, when he and his ideas left, the newton died, and apple almost did too

  • did u listen to anything the guy in the video said. Why does it even matter who makes it as long as it comes out as quick as possible. Just because one person releases the other one first doesnt mean that the next one is just a carbon copy.

  • Well i guess that you're entitled to your opinion. But i could care less of how much of an apple fanboy u r. I do agree in some points that apple does create quality products that you can use right now in the present. I dislike their tactics on advertising by creating mindless drones that have no clue about anything. Microsoft does create some what less quality products but they do sell. But the fact that they like to look into the future is really good in a company. IMO

  • I wasn't such a fan of computer-based learning but after years of back and shoulder pain from carrying bricks and bricks of books... MAN! I'm excited to have that tablet replace everything else! And I do agree with the poster below that it could be a greener solution.

Thanks for sharing the vid, Dave! ^^

  • this thing is going to amazing, finally microsoft is developing their own hardware

  • We the state of the economy it will be your children's children who will be using these in schools. They need to move everyone out of prefabs first.

  • so true. shame really. seems to have gotten much much worse since i was in school 8 years ago.

  • Imagine how easy it would be to copy your mates homework. wi-fi and copy and paste!
