Oh, the I truly don't like is people who have opinions they can't back up. As long as you KNOW WHY you have beliefs, I'll respect that, even if I disagree with your conclusions. I'm always open to discourse, but I despise the pissing contest that most politics turns into.
I really like what you have to say here. I've kept politics out of my videos, but I'm about to give a rant about the recent decision on Voter ID in AZ and illegal aliens. You probably won't like it, but the great thing about life is we all don't have to agree with everyone's opinions to get along.
I've been considering going back to college as well. Fixing computers every day has become more stressful than I ever imagined. I'd rather pursue something a bit more enjoyable.
Oh, man, what a can of worms you opened in me, and I would post a video response except my camera's not here yet. Let's just say that 8 years or so ago I was exactly where you are now (and I have a degree in philosophy), and you know what? IT ALL WORKED OUT GREAT! I'm looking forward to watching your story unfold, and when my camera arrives (tomorrow? next day?), to responding. For now--back to a job I love (usually)! Cheers, bro.
Similar reasons why I went to university too. No fullfillment of any sort at work, nothing challenging, or stimulating, or interesting, just a dull existence. I wanted to pursue my interests - no idea to what job it'll lead to but that's not the point (to me). Good luck.
Cool blog. Good luck figuring out what to do and how to be in this world and all that. And have fun with philosophy. I just hope you don't turn into one of those really annoying philosophy students who kind of enters into this haze where they are no longer intelligible because they use philosophical buzzword shortcuts for everything. Cheers.
So long as you don't feel massive pressure to make gobs of guac (as the kids say now), permanent student-ism gives you a schedule and a status that permits a lot of exploration. Also, there is a lot of employment in the world where it doesn't matter what you have studied. And often people did not train for the job they ultimately have. Any decent employer would rather an articulate philosopher than a thoughtless cookie-cut <insert preferred pointless degree>.
Philosophy huh "Attention to health is life's greatest hindrance." - Plato (427-347 B.C.) "Plato was a bore." - Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) "Nietzsche was stupid and abnormal." - Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910) "I'm not going to get into the ring with Tolstoy." - Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) "Hemingway was a jerk." - Harold Robbins (1916-1997)
Hey I used to bake bread and cakes at home to save money. But how much money can one save? If you buy a $57 watch for $14 and you had $0 to start with you haven't really saved $43 you are actually $14 in the hole. But I liked baking bread and cakes.

Maybe the folks in HK work for the NSA. Or maybe its lonelygirl15 trying to get more attention. Who knows?

Which is why I'm much more interested in the process than those who have applied it.
