What IW did was horrible, especially starting it again at Golden Globes for no reason whatsoever. But I think TR could have been a better man here and try to keep all this low profile as possible. People already know what happened so, him going on shows like this and talking about it as if he's assuring IW gets fired or something. Well, he did and I think that was downhill for TR too. I really don't think this was as big a deal as everybody made it. I'm not saying that Washington was right, because he wasn't , but it really wasn't that serious. African Americans get called the n-word everyday and nobody makes a big deal about it. There's a double standard there. I really don't think this was as big a deal as everybody made it. I'm not saying that Washington was right, because he wasn't , but it really wasn't that serious. African Americans get called the n-word everyday and nobody makes a big deal about it. There's a double standard there. And Knight needed to man up and not have his female friend (Katherine Heigl) fighting his battles for him. It made him look like a pussy.

Although Isaiah Washington was very very wrong, i have to agree with Natjule. Dr. Burke was a very important part of Grey's Anatomy. The show is different without him.. And more so, a lot of us ( grey's fans) wouldnt miss TR that much, cauz we expected we would probable leave anyway. (he wanted to transfer to Mercy. Have marriage problems, didnt pass the test etc etc etc.)

Is it just me, or does Ellen seem a little uncomfortable when he mentions her 'coming out'? I've noticed that she rarely mentions her sexuality and her relationship on the show; I assumed she wanted to keep ignorant middle-American bigots quiet. I mean saying the f-word(the other f-word) is something that many black males say. Its not something he should be going to therapy. I believe that its just something that is like a 'rule' (yes we require so much emotional shielding from situations like this that there are rules being created) that you must pretend like you are something that the media attacks you as (in Isiah's case being a homophobic) and then go to rehap for it. Its riduculous. Anyone else know where I'm coming from?

well, he's not going to therapy for saying that word about knight. he's going to therapy for anger. his anger has gotten the better of him on a few sets of things he has done. it's his anger that made him say the "f-word" not being a homophobe. I've never heard a black man say the "f-word". I've heard a LOT of them use the "n-word" that no white man can say.

If I had a penchant for saying other racist terms, it would be ok to spew it in front of a person of that race? No it doesn't and it is the same rule for Isiah. He didn't say it out of habit, he said it out of hatred. So no, I don't get where you are coming from.

Lets just look at the reality of this situation...Isiah called Knight the f word, Knight was offend, Knight goes on Ellen, we're all awed by his the emotion of the show, yet the f word is still being used around the world. I know and you know that its wrong, but what are you going to do? Some people don't care, some people grow up in an environment where they use the word like they breath air.

And trust me, the f word is being used by black people. I'm black myself. The word is just another word in their vocabulary of curse words. I'm sorry. Also the answer to your question is no...it doesn't give them the RIGHT but when using the f word people are more likely to get away with it. Its yalls struggle to have this word become something taken seriously so that you won't be hurt any more.

Isaiah doesn't have to like homosexuals. But why does we have to resort to name calling? As a human being in the public eye he shoud know better, but even more as a minority himself. Everyone is entitled to their own views and their own sexual choices. They are also entitled to come to work and not be harrassed or belittled because of their choices. Isaiah should be fired and the public should boycott his future work.

You're kidding, right? Being gay is NOT a choice! Who in their right mind would CHOOSE to be told from the time they're old enough to have feelings (I had my first crush on a boy in kindergarten) that they're sick, depraved, an abomination in the sight of God, that they should be abused (verbally and physically), beaten up and killed because of who they are and what they feel? No, nobody CHOOSES that. Ellen and TR have a lot of courage to admit it, knowing how most people will respond.

People are homophobic because they're afraid of same sex closeness. They're afraid of same sex closeness because they themselves want same sex closeness or wanted same sex closeness in the past (particularly non-sexual contact), however society tells them such contact is wrong because it always includes the sexual aspect. Those people then internalize their feelings and have an internalized hate for themselves and eventually take their hate out on other people.
