I will recommend anyone to go there any day, it is sort of desolate (like Norway at 1000m above sea level or the outer islands) but it is beautiful.

You may be in for a nerve wrecking flight if it is a .. uh.. windy day, but it's good pilots who are used to it..

Beware that some drive cars there who hardly know what safety or right/left is.

Questo è falso perché è vero che non ci sono molte fonti di cibo (a parte che potrebbero sempre mettersi a zappare un pò di terra...) ma la maggior parte dei delfini balena che uccidono li lasciano sulla spiaggia a marcire, poi li ributtano in mare. Un conto è uccidere per cibarsi, un altro è uccidere migliaia di creature così, tanto per fare.

E comunque il branco di pesci balena passa lì una volta l'anno per riprodursi, se si uccide anche un quarto del branco la riproduzione va a puttane e il branco si estingue. Di certo non scarico la colpa sulle Far Oer, ma di certo il comportamento dei suoi abitanti non favorisce il ripopolamento della specie.

Io ci sono stato su questa isola..e non mi sembra di avere visto cadaveri che appestavano di giorno;non penso nemmeno che sfamare le 50 mila persone che abitano nelle isole incida nell'equilibrio mondiale, calcolando che mangiano soprattutto pecore. E' molto peggio nel mare meditterraneo..dove con tutta la pesca che c'è, ormai non trovi niente. Se ancora non basta, basterebbe un bel embargo e blocchi i rifornimenti di carburante ma se non si interviene ci sarà un motivo..che dici?

In un sistema di popolazione l'estinzione non avviene solo perchè vi è la caccia..ma è soprattutto per il cambio delle condizioni di habitat e l'animale in questione non si abitua a questa modifica..perchè troppo veloce. Cmq sono d'accordo di intervenire..ma prima penserei ad intervenire a casa nostra e risolvere i nostri problemi e poi muovermi su altri fronti.

Sono stato 2 volte a Capo Nord, e da quel che ho potuto vedere (in moto non so, ma certi particolari sono più visibili) ti posso assicurare che dai paesi nordici non abbiamo da imparare niente.

@puttanamalata, I would reccomend the ones that I love: island of Nolsoy, Kalsoy (this one is a little difficult to reach), then it comes a small locality called Gjógv, the village of Viðareiði from where you can get through two spectacular small tunnels with only one lane and between which is a beautiful waterfall and from where you can visit the small islands of Svinoy and Fugloy. Then it comes Tjørnuvík on Streymoy, the main island.

On the way to you will see one of the most spectacular waterfalls (my favorite). Then it comes Kirkjubø, which is such a special place because of it's history. You should take a trip on the sea to Vestmanna Cliffs or to the cave of Gjógv where there are concerts kept because the acoustic is fantastic. Or you can simply go around Torshavn and relax. Have a piece of more modern life.

By the way, for the people who see only the whalehnt: grow up! The meat you eat is not cloned.
