How is this a great fight? It's a shame really... Not many wanted to watch this fight because the fans wanted Lewis - Bowe but Bowe decided to take on Ferguson for an easy paycheck. It's only a matter of time before Ferguson gets crushed and they know that...
What a great fighter!!! Golota was a great fighter also both ruined their careers Bowe through his yo-yo weight gaining loosing between fights and Golota through his anxiety attacks when in trouble or bouts taking longer then expected.
bowe is so-so, i will never rate bowe better than Golota. Judging from what he has, he would by beaten up by golota easily 10 out of 10 times. riddick just love to eat rather then to fight... he would go to 320 lbs before fights then have to get down to 240 by fight time ..that takes a lot out of ur body...
Lewis and Bowe were very evenly matched, both 6'5, undefeated, similar age, similar weight, both former olympians, both world champs as professionals. Bowe was a more fluid boxer, had a better jab, better chin (although Lewis stil had the power to stop him as he did in olympic final), and was a much better inside fighter. Lewis was physically stronger, more athletic, had a better defense, was mentaly tougher, and was often able 2 use his his height and reach more effecively than Bowe. Its 50/50
Lewis's main flaw (apart from his chin) was his tendancy to underestimate some of his opponents, ALL of Lewis best performances where against guys he feared he might lose to (Ruddock, Golota, Rahman II, Tyson) his worst performances came against guys he didnt respect at the time (Bruno, McCall I, Rahman I, Vitali Klitschko). Fear of losing brought the best out in Lewis, he wouldnt have under estimated Bowe- it would have been a huge grudge match, he'd have had too much to lose.
When Bruno fought lewis in 93, Bowe must have thought why did he not fight him (Holyfield must have thought the same) for that matter. if a 31 year old Frank bruno could outbox and outmove Lewis, what would a Bowe focused by Futch on the job have done? A wasted talent.
Bowe did fight bums after he won the title and continually avoided lennox lewis, he also avoided a fight with Razor Ruddock but then again so did Holyfield.
I don't agree when people say Bowe chose to fight bums after he won the title. While Ferguson might have not been of Lennox Lewis' caliber, he still gave Bowe a fight-however short it was. Dokes also gave his best, but he was way past his prime.
