Give me your address now. Im going to send you the money for the value of that truck new, and you can keep the truck too. I feel so fucking bad for you. You get up in the morning and drive that? HOLY BUCKIN FUCKIN SUCKIN SHIT.
Dont know why 6.2s are so hard to start. I have a 6.5 (see my videos) and it starts right up even when cold and not plugged in after just a few seconds of glow time. I know I have atleast one dead glow plug.
it really makes a big difference if the cables are good and clean to, mine seems to start better if they are tight as hell and spotless. Toby steve 82 chevy 4x4 4 speed, 6.2 long bed.
hey not bad but if you want a faster cranking make the battery cables thicker
i put a 6.2 from an 85 2500 gmc bubren
in my 90 pick up i have 1 battrey but thick cables and the truck cranks fastre then my LT1 caddy. trust me the thicker the cable the more power go to the starter
Sounds like you need the 28MT gear reduction starter & front bracket-really, that wasn't that much smoke for a 6.2, my '93 (which has fairly low mileage @ 137K) smokes about the same on a cold start (but usually catches in 3-4 seconds of cranking after the GP light goes off).
I had a 83 silverado with a 6.2, got 23 mpg pulling a 4000 lb boat 60-70 mph. Those motor will run like a mother with straight duals and a little tweaking on the injector pump
if you do that you might get about 155 horse power out of the worthless gutless piece of shit. Get a diesel with some real power. Most gutless diesel ever made.
Hey zeitgeist... sounds like u'r cranking too slow. That'll chew up da solenoid. time ta drop da starter, and at least polish up da solenoid contacts, or install a new one. bushings sound good on spin down... How's things???
i said better MUFFLERS and the intake silencer doesnt restrict things very much or barely at all so im sure hed be alright. right now im running a turbocharger on my 6.2 straight piped out of the turbo lots of people run their 6.5's this way too so i figured it cant hurt it
i took the air filter & everything that goes with it off & just left with the diesel form of a carb. anyways getting to my point, as u know i got a 86 6.2, & i was wondering y is there a hose going from the oil blow off to the diesel form of carb & what looks like is blowing oil into my engine. i was wondering if is blowing engin oil into the engine or diesel fuel?
I'm not sure on the 6.2 diesel engines because i'm a cummins fan, but don't get me wrong I love any diesel engine lol. Anyway its most likley the 'puke' tube which is just a crank case breathing tube. It might seep some oil but it shouldn't be dumping oil or anything like that in there. If it were you diesel would use the oil as a fuel and you would get a run away situation and you would have to find a way to starve it of air to cut it off. Worse case is it will over rev and blow itself apart...
Before you jump right to the injector pump maybe take your injectors out and have them cleaned and set, everyone always jumps right to the pump and most of the time it has nothing to do with the pump, if your injectors are just pissing and not atomizing your fuel right it wont start for shit, and yes if you don't have all glow plugs working it will be harder to start as well, but it sounded like it was cranking pretty well, but keep this in mind any and all diesels need at least 200 RPM to start
That's a good call on the injectors. I'll check out someplace locally that I can go to get them checked out. The injector tips probably could be cleaned/replaced and the injectors all pop-tested...
6.2's technically don't have injectors, they are injection nozzles and when they dribble it can cause this.. it can also cause burned pistons. You can find pretty good deals on ebay, make sure they have new nozzles in the housing, not reman.
whatever you say.. We used to get in trouble for calling them injectors when I was in training to be a diesel technician.. but then again, i don't know anything
yea well my 6.2 will on it start first try when its 95 degrres out just fine on it so yea, you need a new injector PUMP!, and possibly tune your glowplugs in sequence
i think your injectoring pump is inoperative is all im saying, it should start much easier, like mine which started the third glow plugs cycle today, and it was all the way down to 87 degrees
The IP could be weak...however, when I jump it on a cold morning, it fires right up. Methinks it's my crappy rebuild of the starter, or just shitty Wal*Mart batteries...
There is nothing wrong with a 6.2 engine. Properly maintained they are long lasting efficient engines. Mine has 248,000 on it and i still get over 17mpg with 4:10 gears and no overdrive.
Yeah, but what's the big deal about owning a Caddy when you talk the way you do? You can't even correctly spell the name of your hometown (it's Sacramento) and work at McDonald's. Normally someone working at McDonald's doesn't bother me at all, but since it's you it does.
Man I have a M1009 6.2 blazer and that thing starts right up at -1* all the time. I think it might be time to make sure the glow plug controller is working and that all the glow plugs are good. If one goes out they will all fail very soon after.
The reason you blazer starts so well is probably cause it has the 24 volt starter on it being that its a military truck. They were designed to crank in below zero weather.

unfortunately the older engines actually appreciate backpressure, and intake resistance. the newer ones DONT care because its all computer controlled
