Sigma SD14 Review! (March 2007)

This camera logically has three sensors, similarly to pro 3CCD video cameras. Because of the three layer sensor, it doesn't need to do Bayer interpolation of four pixels to get single color like all the other sensors. So basically, if you buy a 12 megapixel camera from any other manufacturer, you only get 4 megapixel color resolution (chroma resolutin will be 12 megapixels however). I have an Olympus E-500, which has 2-megapixel color resoution becasue it is an 8-megapixel CCD camera. Whew!

i doo have a question...what do u think , its a great camera or what ? because the rest of the Brands, are using the CMOS sensor or CCD , and just Sigma uses FAVOEN X3..it is really good ? they say thats a 14 MP cam, its that really true ? what doo u say..canon 1000d or sigma sd14 ...i want your opinion..and some pictures ....tx :)

nja jag har varit med och testat den med ett proffs och vi kom fram till att den var sämre än konkurrenterna men megapixlar är inte allt

men den var snyggt designad lite annorlunda på någe vis men sköm att använda som jag sade megapixlar är inte allt jag tyckte den var medel och superbra jämfort med canon rebel serien så var den banbrytande

Är sensorn så bra som den verkar? Jag planerar att kanske köpa en SD-14. Är det ett bra val? Du skulle ju tagit en bild på Herr Gårman! haha

Den är grym :D - inte alltid men ofta. I dålig innomhusbelysning med höga ISO värden så är den inte så märkvärdig. Men vid bättre ljusförhållanden så får du härligt 3D ljup och perfekta förhållanden för uppförstoringar.

I noticed that too. I think it was a D40. The D40 is very nice too. I like it very much. Very little noise and great colors.

of course lens is very important... but with the money you can buy Sigma sd14 + 2 pro lenses i can buy 40D+ 16-35 and 70-200  - the small price difference is totally worth it this package being alot better

Sigma SD14 + 18-50EX + 70-200EX = ca €2100

haha, I'm from sweden!! You honestly think I would buy my stuff from overseas? Maybe I could (Dollar is tempting, but that would make the SD14 + lenses VERY cheap too) BUT The 40D will still give you a nice nutella look and no lenses in the world can cure that.

Sigma SD14 is a world class camera. Your POS Canon Rebel is a budget piece of junk for people who don't know what a low dollar Pentax offers... I am sure you are just another moron who bought a cheap Canon because you know nothing else.

3-deep pixel, no Bauer interpolation, one real pixel to rule them all, no wonder Bauer cartel's hired guns are trying to whack Moses in his crib.

I heard one "reviewer(ha!)" claim that his SD14 turned on SEVERAL(!) times in his camera bag. What kind of bag was that, a cement mixer full of rubber balls running 24/7? I know he lies for money.

it's funny how much about photography these reviewers seam know and how much they really care for more than plain numbers. I'm not payed by Sigma but I'm a three layer lover for sure. I love my SD14, and every time I open up my RAW files in Lightroom I become like a little child. It's often I say wow to my own images. :D And I guess that's a good thing. But very important is getting good glass! Good lens is very important. Go for EX (pro) lens if you can.

Yes, they only use Foveon sensors. If that was your question. They have one version in SD9, a slightly modified in the SD10 and a completely new version in the Sd14 and DP1.
