my dad showed me this movie when i was like 8 or 9 ... i like all the guys so differently and so good! later on in life i realized that all of these guys were so special in their own ways and had such amazing careers for the most part! really great movie ... i think movies like this gave way to most of our movies today ya know? if not, still awesome stuff to me ...
I gotta say I'm tired of these twiggy men wearing cologne as models. I personally think that Clint walker is the best looking man ever to walk the earth, and he's not just some twice a day gym go-er HES A WW2 VET A TRUE MAN
Well thank goodness that Sinatra turned the role of Reisman because Marvin was perfectly casted and turned out miles better than "Old Blue Eyes"
With the other cast member like Bronson, Brown, Walker as well as Cassavetes, young Sutherland, Savalas and Borgnine amongst these great guys. Marvin held his own!!!!!!!!!!!
Frank Sinatra Was Originally Intended For The Role Of Major Reisman In The Movie The Dirty Dozen For Director Robert Aldrich And MGM. Ironically He Turned Down The Role Prior To An Injured Hand From Filming The Movie The Manchurian Candidate The Part Went To Lee Marvin..

Why would Sinatra turn it down PRIOR to an injured hand?

@GOOSEYGOOSE9
Recently read that the role of Reisman had been offered to John Wayne who turned it down because of the adultery scene.
