This song is indeed getting better with each listen. I love to hear Varg's hoarse voice, followed by his gentle and soothing clear vocals. Brilliant and dynamic composition. Beautiful and poetic lyrics. The only downside with me listening to Burzum is that every other kind of music is losing much of its meaning and importance to me. I don't even care much for Opeth anymore. (And I have been a huge fan of them for 4 years) Varg's music has a very meditative effect on me. Makes me calm inside...

Not sure on what grounds apart from some innate bias against Varg is making people say this sucks. It's actually a really well written song, lovely melody. Also, theres nothing markedly wrong with the playing, perhaps people are mistaking that for not so sharp production, but meh. Any sketchiness in the playing works for this, i think.
