    LOL @nancydrew5's comment :)

  • Her version with Clifford Brown is AMAZING

  • My version, 'your not the kind of a boy for a girl like me, you're just a song and dance I'm a symphony.

  • @nancydrew5 that's ussally how I sing it lol

  • That's what i call Diva!

  • i have an erection

  • Yes! I love her! She is so beautiful and talented!!

  • wow she's beautiful!

  • She was a looker.

  • What's with the mic on this vid (and few others of her)? It looks like it's missing, is this little ball in front of her a mic?

  • @roverorna Maybe it's a directional mic, they are usually straight. Omnidirectional mics with a fluffy round bit are used for outside.

  • Absolutely love it. If only I was born around that time for the pinnacle of her music!

  • Sarah!!! :), my favorite Jazz singer ever. I was fortunate to hear her live in NYC a few years before she passed....an evening I won't forget. I liked her ealier work best as in this clip.

  • So Gorgeous!

  • For Sarah I would have been any kind of boy she wanted. That voice, those lips, that smile, that sass at a time when women supposedly only belonged in the kitchen. Only that kind of sass can belong in jazz.

  • @SharkSport ..Gawd what a ignorant piece of dog sh*t you are..

  • The pride of Newark, New Jersey. What a voice.

  • There is something about early Sarah Vaughn. Very special.

  • oh my god, shes amazing

  • She was beautiful!!!! I am a true Sarah and Ella fan

  • I love Sarah!!!!!

  • what makes me ALSO happy - besides the music itself - is that these singers in the field of sara and ella.. they all looking HAPPY during singing. if i look in the face of madonna ... well i only have the feeling she counts teh dollars or so.. but these ladies had so much happiness in their singing and THIS - my dear friends - THIS is that what one hears by listening to them. i should know this as i am a singer too.. in the field of swing/jazz.. wish me luck... eva

  • @odysseetheater madonna is a pop postpunk singer. thats why she has that attitude. anyway she cant sing like this at all

  • @odysseetheater good luck and your right

  • And to think, Sarah would not be able to get a mike today, because her clothes ain't hanging offa her...PEACE.

  • Actually they are!

  • That's one way of putting it, friend . . .

despite her awesome TALENT [and obvious dignity] . . . she

probably wouldn't get any attention, because, as you say . . . she wouldn't do a burlesque show.

  • Believe it brother, and they still do!

  • I can't believe some people at the time tought less of black people... i mean... that is some art here... shit... ^^

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaamoooooooooooooo!!!!

  • sweet. sweet. sweet

  • Miss Billie Holiday is my favourite

  • wow she is such a wonderful singer

  • Sarah and Ella were both so wonderful. I'm just glad they lived and recorded and I heard them.

  • My oh my. Look at her! She was gorgeous! Don't get me started on her vocal talent...

  • Ah, The Devine One . . . I miss excellent vocals such as this. 10+.

  • I love Sassy! I wish I was born earlier. I would have tried so hard to marry that woman! A truly beautiful and talented girl. I love this clip.

  • hehe.. she has such a cheeky look on her face, it's great!

  • she's a great singer. HOWEVER ella fitzgerald was the best sorry dude.

  • there is nothing wrong with that i love sarah to and ella And i think billie holiday is the best jazz singer it doesnt matter they all sound great so why are people mad about the comment u said

  • totally agree with you, ella was the best. forme toooooo... but ... sarah is very very close. ella had more technique, sarah sung from deep feelings .. anyhow, no chance to find out who is better..

  • I'd have to say neck and neck, they both were doing it at a young age. When I 1st heard Sarah, I thought she was Ella, but I love em both. 2 of my favorites! Thanks for the post Ladynea. : )

  • by saying this i realized that you are right: as young "girls" they sounded very similar. and on the other side: who caresß 2 big great faboulos singers, would not miss one of them ? thanks for commenting eva

  • i thought that ella rocked scatting

    and sarah rocked the ballads

    so.. yea lol

  • Absolutely wonderful! I never get tired of hearing that voice. She's my favorite jazz singer. Thanks ladynea for posting.

  • Best jazz singer EVER bar none!

  • wow!

  • Thanks for posting! Her voice touches my heart and my soul!!!!

  • Sassy and sexy! I love it!

  • Wow,have you guys noticed those cheeks and bones? Perfect for singing! Sarah is definitely MY FAVORITE singer of all times!!! :-D

  • how? explain

  • ive always loved her singing much more than her sound

  • o love her voice!

  • She is simply stunning. And so is her voice.

  • WOW!!!

  • my favorite of all time.

  • AMAZING

  • I love her, she so good!I will never, ever get tired of her voice

  • She was beautiful!

  • I have read of opera singers who speak in awe of her. That is quite a testimony.

  • Her musicianship was sooo evident in every note she sang.

  • Sarah Vaughan is a singer with soul, it's too bad that the cigarettes she said that made her voice rich destroyed her body

  • She died at 66...sad.

  • FUCKING FABULOUS!

  • she is beautiful=]

  • I loved every moment of this! :-)

  • gotta love Sarah!

Is that Earl Hines at the piano?

  • te amo sarah por siempre

  • The great lady of jazz and what a voice! A true gem.

  • The lyrics are impeccable. "I'm just a song and a dance. You're a symphony"

  • great to see her in video after hearing her all these years

  • I can't agree with most of ya - her way with a ballad later on made me weep - ie: Here's That Rainy Day

  • I'll say it again, i always admired her voice....but am amazed how gorgeous she was back ten!!

  • How beautiful world were the '50s....everything was in its place...and what a charm, romantic

  • THANKS for sharing

  • this is great. i much prefer her swinging to crooning. i really don't care for her ballads, but her swingin is always right in the pocket

  • I agree 100%. Her rhythm tunes show a gift that is supremely A-List

  • this is nice

  • I've always loved her voice. She was quite attractive in her youth as well.

  • Yes . . . when she was with her first

husband, he sort of managed her career

you know --- the type of look she had, etc. He did a good job at it, but

was really a bit too domineering. I love

this performance --- and her voice --- well

    words can't describe it.

  • Oh the '50s were so glamorous.Great taste

  • I concur. I love 50's big band ampex recording

    s

  • Today the world is violence and bad taste.I don't know why people taste and everything became so coarse, bad taste, no mistery

  • Blame the 60s and 70s...everything old or in the past was worthless...'taste' meant restraint, authority, suppression, oppression....coarse means freedom of expression when there's actually nothing to express. It is most visible with American women. For American men there has simply been a steady downward spiral to the point now where men look like boys for the majority of their lives, and often behave like boys. But what goes down must come back up...;-)

  • Let's hope so...

  • Check your inbox. I have a more extensive and answer to your comment.

  • This is the time and the place. This performance is definitely hot - and the way this song is suppose to be played. Sarah Vaughn demonstrates incredible range.

  • Sarah Vaughan has the voice that can soothe a beast. Sarah V, Ella Fitzgerald, Dorothy Dandridge, Billie holliday, and Pearl Bailey, and Eartha Kitt should have all been on one cd together.

  • Thanks thanks thanks...

  • Fantastic. Thanks for posting.

  • have the song on cd always wonder what i would look like on vid..thanks much :)
