Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
Sarah!!! :), my favorite Jazz singer ever. I was fortunate to hear her live in NYC a few years before she passed....an evening I won't forget. I liked her ealier work best as in this clip.
For Sarah I would have been any kind of boy she wanted. That voice, those lips, that smile, that sass at a time when women supposedly only belonged in the kitchen. Only that kind of sass can belong in jazz.
what makes me ALSO happy - besides the music itself - is that these singers in the field of sara and ella.. they all looking HAPPY during singing. if i look in the face of madonna ... well i only have the feeling she counts teh dollars or so.. but these ladies had so much happiness in their singing and THIS - my dear friends - THIS is that what one hears by listening to them. i should know this as i am a singer too.. in the field of swing/jazz.. wish me luck... eva
there is nothing wrong with that i love sarah to and ella And i think billie holiday is the best jazz singer it doesnt matter they all sound great so why are people mad about the comment u said
totally agree with you, ella was the best. forme toooooo... but ... sarah is very very close. ella had more technique, sarah sung from deep feelings .. anyhow, no chance to find out who is better..
I'd have to say neck and neck, they both were doing it at a young age. When I 1st heard Sarah, I thought she was Ella, but I love em both. 2 of my favorites! Thanks for the post Ladynea. : )
by saying this i realized that you are right: as young "girls" they sounded very similar. and on the other side: who caresß 2 big great faboulos singers, would not miss one of them ? thanks for commenting eva
Blame the 60s and 70s...everything old or in the past was worthless...'taste' meant restraint, authority, suppression, oppression....coarse means freedom of expression when there's actually nothing to express. It is most visible with American women. For American men there has simply been a steady downward spiral to the point now where men look like boys for the majority of their lives, and often behave like boys. But what goes down must come back up...;-)
This is the time and the place. This performance is definitely hot - and the way this song is suppose to be played. Sarah Vaughn demonstrates incredible range.

What's with the mic on this vid (and few others of her)? It looks like it's missing, is this little ball in front of her a mic?
roverorna 1 year ago
@roverorna Maybe it's a directional mic, they are usually straight. Omnidirectional mics with a fluffy round bit are used for outside.

Yes . . . when she was with her first
husband, he sort of managed her career
you know --- the type of look she had, etc. He did a good job at it, but
was really a bit too domineering. I love
this performance --- and her voice --- well
words can't describe it.
