The firefight between the two delta members and the somalian rebels lasted over an hour. It could of been made into a movie by itself. This clip is good, but doesn't truly show the bad assery that Shughart and Gordon did that day. Dod says over 2k were killed by those two alone.
The firefight between Shughart and Gordon lasted for over an hour and could of been a movie by itself. This clip from the film, while good, doesn't truly show the bad assery performed by those two Delta members that day.
This movie was very good. I cant believe these 2 men went out to know that they were going to die but die for trying to help a buddy(thank you for everybody in the military)
The music fits this movie and video perfectly. It really gets you into the mood and how it must have been for Gordon and Shughart. Prayers and applauds go out to the armed forces who is risk their lives everyday so that others (we) can live.
The bravest thing these men did was step off that other helo. I hope that one day I can prove my own quality, but I know I will never have the balls these men did. Their sacrifice still chills me and inspires. Good tribute.
My uncle is Lt. Joe Cribs and he knew Randy and Gary. He was close to them. Im only thirteen and i admire these men. They are my only heroes. I drew on a white t shirt saying Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon R.I.P. and i wore it to school and had to take it off because the principle said it was offensive because ith their total confirmed kills and their medals but when i meet these men in Heaven i will be sure to thank them. May them and all other men and women who served for us R.I.P.
There are alot of tributes on youtube to these two outstanding individuals. I admire everyones intention who has every made one, but I'm sorry this one is my favorite. Nice job.
Stupid dumb coward who was hiding in the back with a pistol decided to go shoot Randy while he was wounded. How pathetic, i would be ashamed if i was that dude.
@kungfoolai yes read Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden, real people, real stories, real lives lost. Movie does a very nice job of this it's a must see, and History Channel did a show on it of the same name
@goryELITE They couldnt risk another bird going down thats why they never sent air support, even if it would have been a quick hit and run they couldnt risk it.
@goryELITE Yeah 200 somalians and 2 Delta guys how are they going to distinguish between the crowd and the two lowly soldiers and besides that do you think it's incredibly easy to do a strafing run in a bird or anything like that? If it was then there would be more pilots. The snipers got there because they were inserted VIA Black Hawk before the massive ass crowd of somalians had got there yet. They weren't dropped INTO the crowd. 4 black hawks went down that day.
@skullkid325 i have seen the film like 10 times and seen the true story
i posted the air strike comment 4 mounths ago it was a simple Q.
that xXStandAndDeliverXx answerd for me . will u stop sending me emails plz.
also it would be simple for an air crue to now whos who because theres two men in and around the crash site defending and like 200 somalians rushing at them and plz dont bother righting back
i cant watch this without crying becuse it gives me hope for this world knowing that some people are still willing to go the extra mile to help someone out no matter the odds and no matter the cost i hear people say all the time they would do the same but the fact is odds are no you wouldnt these 2 men deserve to go down in history and be remembered forever
What courage....i mean 2 voleentered to go in behind enemy out numbered out guned to save 1 wounded guy i respect them them are true americans and they completed their mission he live REST IN PEACE GARY GORDON AND RANDY SHUGHART!!! I RESPECT U!!!!!!
Around this scene pissed me off. I was SoOo mad that them mother fuckin bitch ass mother fuckers got those two delta's.I wanted so bad for a bomb to drop on that large croud fuckin with them.
to flyinglookie, the minigun is generally run off an electrical current, battery fed. It may well be that the weapon could not function as a result of the impact/crash, also these guys were making snap decisions under fire, first priority was the crew, 2nd was a defensive perimeter and as they were encircled, even the minigun would have given only limited arc.
Its all very touching, but it was a fool hardy decision, R.i.p to them both by all means, but two lives were given for one.....and now two families suffer a loss.....dont forget that either.
@demonhneo in the actuall battle, all the crew survived, but was knocked out, and what they did was pull them out of the chopper and put them where durant was, but the skinnys killed the crew and almost durant but durant was spared. so they gave their lives to TRY to save the crew.
Yes i know what they "TRIED" to do, but the chances of them succeeding were next to none, and oh look, thats what happened. Respect to those lads who had the guts to take the mission, but idiots to those who decided yea 2 lives are better than one.!!
@demonhneo They did save one.... and the movie doesn't reflect that others were alive and still fighting... Hooah !! I am lucky to have had brothers with such tenacity and courage.
Man sucks that these guys werent able to be recovered or able to come back....they would have earned a medal of honor and a whole shit load of respect for what they did.
Somalis returned all the bodies from crash site two..well after they were dismembered to the point where they were unrecognizable..both snipers earned the MOH for protecting the pilot, who would be the only survivor out of the two snipers, a copilot, and two crew chiefs
kinda wierd to end the vid with "hope you enjoyed this vid", cus i didnt exactly enjoy watch while these two brave heroes got killed by hordes of somalians...

Watching Black Hawk Down, you have to wonder why these two would volunteer for such an operation that would certainly end in death. Then you remember that the American fighting man is the best of the best, and that we will always be the best. OORAH!

cool video and good music with it. Nice to see you've mentioned it's in memory of Gary Gordon & Randall Shughart! Many people forget this is based on a true story and that they did this voluntarily.
yea you're right gregbear i just looked the chooper that inserted randy and gary gordon were only calling in support. wouldnt call that covering them. little birds were making runs over there though.
SAS wasnt involved what so ever....I got to talk with Clay othic since he works in kansas ..wichita that is n i got to speak with him about it..it was just 10th mountain division delta n 75th regiment rangers
no there was no other chopper the one that crash landed back at base was the one to drop off randy n gary....it was getting hit while dropping off and locating up
yea the one that crash land at the base was the one that droped gary and randy off. but it didnt get hit on insertion. anyway cpk93 did u read the book or only see the movie. u sound like somone who is ignorant.
oh yea and them droping the troops in the wrong place? are you talking about chalk 4. the rope landed on a car and they had to move forward a block. cant do much about chance.

Dumb Ass guys risked their lives for their country, their economies, their wives, their daughters. They risked everything.
It doesn't get much more sad then that.:(

cool video and good music with it. Nice to see you've mentioned it's in memory of Gary Gordon & Randall Shughart! Many people forget this is based on a true story and that they did this voluntarily.
sasslash 3 years ago
Yeah i agree with alot of people forget to mention that.
Thanks a million for taking the time to post a comment!
