  • I like ,this song

  • The original is perfect, its like someone would dare to cover No Surprises or Weird Fishes..

  • @nirconn i like covers

  • @winewaste maybe it's your mom!

  • Craziest fucking hair-do . . . Only Thom could pull that one off and look like he spent hours on it :X

  • Macbook: PLAY ME A SONG!!! >:O

    Thom: Ok Computer.

  • just...wow

  • i hate when my wife says that portishead is "so boring"... she is unable to appreciate this fucking great song (and this fucking great cover)

  • @rickymartir1 you should slap your wife right in the face

  • @rickymartir1 Damn she better be a good cook or something - that'd be a total dealbreaker for me!

  • @rickymartir1

I share your pain and similar issues.

  • @rickymartir1 : change wife ;)

  • wow !!!! get in the studio and record it !!!!

  • God I wish radiohead would cover this legitimately

  • To all, we don't care about who is better, they just cover it with resoect cos they are great musiciens.

    that's all...

  • these guys breathe music

  • Pretty :0)

  • I love both bands. Great Cover ! I fucking love this.

  • Don't compare both of them, people says portishead is better because this song is their song, same thing if portishead do a creep cover, people will say radiohead is better,,the original song is always better..

  • Great cover love PH more but mad respect this is a great song

  • This is an amazing song. I never heard it before this...

  • Portishead is Better :)

  • Don't compare anything to anything cos one mans gold is another mans poo.

  • people complaining about the king of limbs must not know radiohead's music philosophy. If it works, then something has to change.

  • @Robiskool1234 LOL so true

  • 18 people have serious problems

  • @RyanTheNavigator, what's wrong with radiohead fans is that they all seem to think that radiohead is the best band in the modern days of music. I've heard from die hard fans that they were better than beatles, pink floyd etc. "it's still great compared to almost any other band,'

  • @YankTheYank because they are.

  • From the beginning to 24 Jonny be all like: dis is so lame thom srsly, and den be he like fine i'll do it....

  • @xRyan5, in contrast to In Rainbows, King of Limbs was utter shit. Everything was so slow and they tried once again to tweak their music style, but it was unsuccessful this time. I can only hope they produce something better.

  • @YankTheYank I stopped reading when I saw "In Rainbows". You make a huge mistake when you compare a new album to previous ones. The King of Limbs isn't my favorite Radiohead album either, but I have enough sense to know that it's still great compared to almost any other band. And even if it wasn't, a band is more than just their last album. They remain my favorite band because they released so many consistently amazing albums before it.

  • only Beth and Thom's voice match this song perfectly...

  • Radiohead is so overrated. Don't get me wrong, they're good, but people act like they're God, and they're not even that great.

  • @Dipseyy143 I get why you'd think that, but I do think they are THAT great. There aren't many bands out there who have shown as much consistent improvement and ambition as Radiohead, while still making brilliant songs; still experimenting and innovating; still making music for the right reasons; and somehow still staying popular in the mainstream. Radiohead have made me feel emotions that I didn't know existed and I think that's a beautiful thing to come from a bunch of guys arranging sounds.

  • @Dipseyy143 They're better than God. Definetely more interesting.

  • @Dipseyy143 'Overrated' is such a stupid, meaningless word... Every band has die hard fans who act like the artists are gods. There is nothing special about that when it comes to Radiohead.

  • I think Thom has the lyric sheet open on his Macbook

  • @superwiicrazy, wow. Big words. You might want to check on that. Because lately, Radiohead's music has been sucking pretty bad. You heard the latest album?

  • @YankTheYank I thought the King of Limbs was awesome, one of the best albums I've heard this year.

  • @YankTheYank I disliked King Of Limbs on first listen, but now I love it. Happens almost everytime with Radiohead, because something somehow mysteriously makes me stick with it.

  • Radiohead: Guys

    Portishead: Dads

  • Portishead is great. Very cool.

  • @AndersT95, Portishead have been around as log as Radiohead have been. That guy is belittling Portishead. You don't belittle Portishead.

  • @YankTheYank radiohead = most talented band in history,

    there is no higher honour.

  • i wish stay there and play with them!!!

  • cant even really hear it.

  • That fucker who said covering this song is an honour is a complete idiot. David Cook, that douchebag, covered Eleanor Rigby. Is it an honour for the Beatles?

  • @YankTheYank heyhey, its not about life or death here, stop arguing god damn

  • Is Jonny actually playing anything or just miming?

  • @csikszentmihalyi He's playing the bassy part.

  • @drjandoedels well... Portishead is just a good a band as radiohead... and I say that being a ginormous fan of radiohead..

  • Es como si mis dos bandas favoritas hubieran tenido un hijo!!!

  • I bet the reason why Thom has his computer on is because he is skyping with his mom.

  • @winewaste

no - he's gone on ebay to buy a hairbrush

  • @wormsangel stupid motherfucker dont mess up with tow yorke poor devil

  • @wormsangel i think he's reading the tabs and lyrics as he's playing the song

  • @winewaste Lyrics!!

  • What I love about this cover is the fact that not only is it a great idea for a cover, but Thom's voice complements Beth's words perfectly.

  • CAME

  • OMG my favorite band covering my favorite protishead song... lol fucking awesome

  • This could be a Radiohead song.

  • People seriously disliked this cover?! wtf?!

  • @drjandoedels Portishead doesn't need honor: they are Radiohead's peers and stand on their own (and I say this with Radiohead being my favorite band of all time).

  • thom says himself: no,no,no,no

  • My two favourite bands, thoms voice is amazing and so is beths, but are very different styles. I have to say though, portisheads first album and the 1st half of the second album is they're best work.

    Long live electronica !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • rmoso!!

  • Beautiful.

  • Comment removed

  • wow... respect for this version.

  • @drjandoedels they cover a smiths song.... and i thin its an honor to COVER a smiths song... and its must be an honor to cover a portishead song too...

    not bad anyway

  • Great!

  • This was fucking awesome.

  • Tom, you would love her music, wouldn't you? Her voice and lyrics cut so deep, just like yours. Love the two of you, make a song together already!

  • portishead is better. if they want to make a cover, they have to go basement. what is it ?

  • I wonder if Jonny or the other guys ever get used to hearing that achingly gorgeous voice.

  • @cmatthews926 often thought about that, must be an unreal feeling to hear his early versions of what would become radiohead songs

  • @eamisagomey right? Man I'd kill to be a fly on the wall hahaha.

  • Portishead and Radiohead... it seems you can't like one without liking the other, they both go hand in hand.

  • thats the song to sounds in the elevator to heaven!

  • Woooow

  • Touched by the hand of Thom "God" Yorke. Thats turn into a masterpiece.

  • woahh I was really wanting to cover this Portishead song and found out my favorite band did it! thought yorke was gonna play the beats thru the laptop at any moment, fuckin great cover!

  • @drjandoedels Is it a joke? Portishead is not some village band. May be cover is good, but not as much as original

  • I am in audio heaven right now!:-)

  • Wow! Greatness covering greatness....perfection!

  • Please don't think this as an honor, it's just people who love music, loving music, doing what comes natural to them. There is no winner, honor, or end. It's just understanding about what feels right and what stays strong in your head.

  • @phyphorous one humble comment on youtube, thank you

  • @drjandoedels

dude, Portishead itself is a great band!

  • that's amazing my 2 fucking dearling bands

  • Wooow! *-*

  • Johnny's lookin' pretty irritated @ 3:05 that that damn doors not shut...

  • Radiohead/Portishead tour 2011 any news? ;)

  • @waaromzomoeilijk yeah just shit my pants if this is true

  • @okcomputeA I'll see what i can do :P

  • i just notice that this is the best apple's comercial....ever created!? o.O

  • I think Thom's voice really matches this song. Totally love it. Actually I think it's better than the original.

  • Johnny Greenwood looks real bored

  • the portishead version is infinity times better.

  • @weinerdog4eva infinity*infinity=infinity. basic calculus

  • @xarmanhskafragos thanks for that

  • they should release it definitely

  • that's so sweet and honest. love them both.

  • @halfpommy - Dear halfpommy,

There is one problem here. If youtube *remove* the dislike button, how can they delete users who press said dislike button, since it would no longer exist? ;)

  • que increible ver la sensibilidad de los dos...la musica les toca profundamente sobretodo a yorke...hail to the softness in musicians hearts like them

  • goooood cover! this is one of my fav songs from portishead <3

  • What guitar is thom playing?

  • @krispecker Looks like a Martin

  • Orgasmico!!!

  • does anybody here know how john makes those screeching sound?

  • @ilovesouthpark01 it's just the resistence of fretboard and strings against his fingers, quite normal in acoustic guitars while sliding

  • too bad radiohead are hipsters. and hipsters are filthy. tho radiohead is talented still.

  • Oh man I so wish the audio were better, what a great voice thom keep it up

  • i wish everyone that calls his voice whiney and untalented could see this video this really shows his range.

  • i fucking love thoms haircut ^^ awesome cover

  • They should cover Strangers. These are the two best bands i know!

  • Radiohead didn't play this to top the original, they are paying hommage, you complete and utter idiots, especially the people who bang on about how "the smiths" original was better, no shit, radiohead just like playing covers not to improve or better them but out of respect and for fun.

  • @JohnnyMarr03 Excellent comment.

  • EXCELENTE.

  • @MrEyeItch ...or headhead

  • wow esta bastante bien....

  • That's what I call men.

  • Good cover, however, hardly 'epic'. The original is absolute genius and i cannot see anyone topping it - not even Radiohead!

  • very very cool!!!

  • has Radiohead covered another band before??

  • I know they've covered Joy Division/New order, and The Smiths. Unsure about anyone else.

  • @Scttrbrain7 they also covered neil young

  • Thom Yorke looks like Goku in this one... lol

  • It's amazing to know how Portishead have become music legends/veterans -- to the extent that Radiohead cover them!

  • I die inside!!!!!! <3

  • Wow, just wow.

  • @pmac24 sorry that was a typo it was 1/4 an octave below. plus 3 or 4 notes above it worked out to be about a half octave difference.

  • More range does not equal a better singer. What good would it do to know what squealing, ear shattering highs or growling lows Yorke or Bellamy could hit? If it helps, think about their relative merits this way: Bellamy would do better than Yorke on American Idol. But is that what you want?

  • @coolandthejew Right, but pmac said Bellamy was more "technically" sound. Technicality is a quantitative measure not qualitative. I wasn't making a normative statement on who was better sounding to my ear. I was attempting to establish that the only "technical" way to establish any one singer's skill is by range.

  • @pmac24 a while back I found both of their highest recorded vocal notes as well as the lowest. While Thom Yorke only has about 3 or 4 notes on Bellamy at the top of his range, the bottom of his range he has a full 3/4 octave on him.

  • @robyculver

Anything more than a 5th of range difference is astronomical. That's not even the same stratosphere. It's possible that Thom has recorded lower notes, but I don't buy for one second that he was '3/4' of an octave more lower range PLUS a couple notes in his upper. That is way too big of a gap for two singers who are clearly both tenors.

  • this is one of my favorite covers that radiohead has done. i love the original portishead version and this one is just as good in my opinion.

  • @pmac24 if you want to get technical about it Thom has a half octave more range than bellamy does.

  • @robyculver

I'm not sure where you get that. I'm a singer myself and cover a lot of both Muse and Radiohead. They are equally challenging range-wise. Bellamy belts more and Yorke uses more falsetto. Again, I think they're both great singers, but it's the emotion and haunting quality that allows me to never tire of Yorke's voice.

  • get some flat wounds

  • Bellamy, Beth, and Thom Yorke are all amazing singers. It's all a matter of preference after that. Yorke to me, has the best voice because it has a haunting quality to it that simply can't be emulated. Bellamy is probably more 'technically' sound but to me cannot compare in anyway emotionally to what Yorke creates. Just my opinion.

  • @pmac24 i love beth and thom's voices but could care less about bellamy's. it's definitely a matter of preference. beth and thom have so much genuine emotion in their voices and bellamy just sounds kind of slick to me.

  • @cynthiailly

That's my whole thing. Making a pretty sound for the sake of it is fine, but nothing compared to when it is combined with emotion and brilliant songwriting. Beth also has that haunting nature to her voice. And to me, as songwriters, Portishead and Radiohead blow Muse away. That's what I respect most. They bring you into their world.

  • mucho mejor la versión de Radiohead

  • words can't describe how awesome this is

  • thom and beth should share a hug

  • I dont think his singing is horrible, as someone said with modern music singing at all should be respected but I realy dont know many voices that can compete with beths.

  • they have different kinds of voices, i love both

  • @kyphem you're fucked up , aren't you?

  • excelente muy bien, gracias gracias gracias por esta belleza.saludos

  • I love it!

  • やっぱり使ってるざますよ、おマック。

  • @KypHeM If you're saying Thom Yorke is an awful singer then you're an idiot.

  • @KypHeM Thom isn't the best singer in the world, but I'd like to hear someone "better" sing without autotuning.

  • @dandelionhero Okay. Matt Bellamy. Thom has an amazing voice and he can hold a note, but you have to admit that Muse's singing is mindblowing, even if their music isn't as good as Radiohead's.

Watch the fanboys shit a brick palace. Just watch.

  • @Burninghay I actually agree. Matt Bellamy is a much better singer, and he can sing just as well live. I was referring to pop singers and "alternative" bands (Green Day, All-American Rejects, etc.).

  • he sounds like shit compared to beth gibbons

  • awesome

  • ese cover de radiohead es genial %

  • Unbelievable! I am speechless right now. One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands covered by my 2nd favorite band!!! (my 1st is Pink Floyd and 3rd is Tool)

  • A WE SO ME!!!

  • Oh, you know he is into it when he starts shaking his head. Great cover.

  • Man you know a song is a masterpiece when Radiohead covers it!

  • Oh my goodness..................this is just beautiful. Absolutely positively EPIC!!!!

  • aaaay ya me kga mas este inglesito! que le pasa!

  • @boteronika porque :(

  • Is that a Takamine Thom's using?

  • @Sydeltronic looks quite a bit like a martin&co I think

  • Did Thom just wake up?

  • I'm in love with this cover

  • I'm in love with this cover

  • genial el tema cuando lo canta radiohead le da ese sello unico de su voz que tiene tom

  • I tried to play this on my guitar, but soon my hand starts to hurt a lot :(
