  • As a movie buff and a film student I find this kind of behavior particularly annoying. I haven't experienced much talking in the theater but last year I went to see Citizen Kane and there was a guy snoring through most of the movie. It's supposed to be the greatest movie ever made and there was this guy sleeping through the whole thing. It may not be the most exciting film ever made but damn sleep somewhere else.

  • I totally get what you're saying! I got so sick of people that wouldn't shut up that I just quit going to the movies for 6yrs!

  • لبى مؤخرتك

  • Yoitsedddddie now why would you say that.

  • Ugh, I totally know what you mean...

  • In Australia a normal ticket is 16.50$ and I'm pre sure AUD is the same as USD right now. NYC doesn't seem so expensive anymore. :D (Y)

  • @BarrackOBrody Agree. Australia is such a ripping off place. I live there as well.

  • I don't think this will change in the States. I remember my parents telling me that with the advent of tv, people began treating the theater more and more like their own living rooms.

For this reason I do not go to any movie unless it is a matinee on a weekday...

But here in Korea where I am working temporarily, I feel I am the one being too loud just by eating popcorn - I think I can only hear it. It is stone cold quiet in a Korean theater - and they always have reserve seating.

  • just download the movie

  • dont you just hate when RIGHT WHEN the movie is about to start, huge MCtallguy JUST HAS to sit in front of you

  • future dick in mouth

  • oooooooo ur cute :D

  • One of my pet pieves too

  • Oh... Well it doesn't happen in Florida! :)

  • we don't really have that in Kansas City which is in MISSOURI! i hate kansas lol. like im sure it does happen but whenver i go to the movies there's almost never people talking.

  • its 7-10 dollars to see a movie here :)

  • Just scream when a hot guy comes in, Then the girls would be like :| then shut up.

I did it when i saw new moon, It worked really well. :)

  • you're absolutely right. 90% of the population are idiots.

  • I was at the theatre with my mom and got these girls kicked out. It felt good :) You're totally right. Like is it really necessary?! If you don't like the movie, leave!

  • gay

  • West Sideeeeeee!

  • I know what you mean, dude.

    It's freaking horrible.

I was at my HS band concert (i was in attendence, i wasn't in it) but this chick in the front row answered her phone...and was screaming.

Me and my friends were soooo agrravated.

    Wow...idt i'd ever pay 12.50 for a single movie.

I get mad abt the 8.75 i have to pay in PA.

    But!

The real reason i am commenting this....

If you go to the management, they'll do something, if not, give you a refund. atleast here. :-P

  • I wached a movie it was ruind by 3 girls one of them CALLED there friend to talk so this is what I said "shut the fuck up" ya harsh but they didn't talk they YELLED

  • WOW! 12.50$?!

    Thats a lot!

her in Puerto Rico is 6.50.

    Y te entiendo.

    Odio cuando pasa eso

  • I totally agree with you! People should not talk during a movie! especially during an important scene of that movie.

  • Dude... you need to chill out.

  • I sometimes say something to the people I'm there with (of course only quietly). But I really hate the people that answer their phones or do not mute them. I think that not only they should mute the ring tone but they should turn the phone off.

They even annoy with their phones in a theatre during the play.

  • RHPS is worse when people DON'T shout at the screen and laugh their asses off.

  • I cant lie im one of those people but its only when it comes to scary movies and the characters are acting stupid. i do understand where he is coming from with other genres though. but scary movies i cant help it. im like "Run you dumb bitch, run!!!!" lol. my girlfriend answered the phone once but that was just when i called her to ask her what type of popcorn she wanted. hehehe.

  • Yeah drunks at the movies are worse they don't shut up and they ruined Avatar which was a good movie

  • Why do you think big-screen flat TVs are such a big hit?

Oh, I tend to be a commenter with friends I'm with, so I apologize in advance...

hhmmmm... is there a pattern here?

Seen AVATAR yet, or interested in that genre?

  • Twelve fitty?? To hell with that. Netflix ;)

  • A friend of mine never understood why people ate and drank during a movie.

Not the actual noise - but well.....

What i really dislike is when people analize out loud the movie one is trying to watch....

Like: Oh i 've seen this .... it ends like..... how can you watch this...... bla ... blaa

  • omg this is exactlyyyyyy what happend to me when i went to see paranormal activity! :/

  • i agree!i have never had that happen to me myself and i have gone to the movie theatres TONS but yeah, people should shut up!

P.S. i love that noise you make in all of your vids where your like mad, that like "AHHH!" it is so cute..but anyway >.>

  • that happens to me all the time! I was at horror film and the girl in front of me was texting! And she had one of those big bright screens and even when she wasnt texting she left it open and was putting it by her shoulder so it was right in my face! and some other lady had these big FLASHING earrings on somewhere on the left side and it kept distracting me.

Finally i yelled 'turn your earrings off!!!' and then the whole theater looked at her and went 'yeah!'

god some people are so rude!!!

  • When i went to watch Spiderman 3 they were messing around right at the front saying spiderman quotes, It was annoying as i never saw any trailer for it, or any clips managed to avoid all that, Then they spoiled it for me by saying " oh this is the bit where Sandman gets Drowned by Spiderman" If i wanted a running commentary i would ask for it!

  • So many people nowadays have no thought for others and think it is their right to do what they want. I agree it's annoying but I'm not sure what the answer is. Well I do but it is not allowed.

  • you have so right! all people who are talking loud on da theater: pls...SHUT UP LOL!!!!!

  • You are so right Carl people need to respect you and be quiet while your watching a movie =D

  • I talk during the movies lol but I whisper what i got to say to her lol xD

  • i watched the Strangers in a getto movie theater and they kept ruining the movie by scraming "HES BEHIND YOU BITCH TURN ARROUND!!"

  • Completely agree with you, Carl. I complain to the theatre - the more of us that do that, the more they're likely to take notice.

When I was a very young kid, they used to employ usherettes who would throw people out for talking. They need to bring that back.

  • Damn, where I live in NC it's only $3.00. Don't you miss North Carolina?

  • heck yeah, it's everywhere. i live in san mateo, california and i didn't hear a word of the last movie i saw. the people in the seats beside me and my friend were trying to drown out the movie with weird commentaries,, ugh

  • this happens to me every time i go to the movies also it pisses me off cause people text during it and it bugs the crap outta me! TURN OFF YOUR PHONE! if you go to the movies be respectful i mean seriously....and same here i dont have the guts to say something

  • heck yeah

  • Wow, well that happened to me. Two hold ladies on the same seats row as me and my friend.

At the beggining of the movie, one of them stood up and said really loudly: You wait, I gotta go make a peepee.

    ....

And later near the middle of the movie, the other woman started snoring... >_> kinda ruins everything like you said...

  • The ending made me die of laughter!

  • a good strategy is to say "the REST of us are trying to watch the movie". Though that would only work in a full theatre. That should encourage others in the theatre to speak up with you as well. some people are just insensitive jerks. oh well.

  • Carl I would try not to go during the "bubblegum" hours and maybe try a late nite showin where older people go. I don't know maybe, huh. That's what I do.

  • te amo.....mom

  • I couldn't agree more!

  • Comment removed

  • here here carl

  • I made the same experience a couple of years ago. I watched Lord of the ring part 3 on premier night - the guy next to me ruined the movie by making "funny" statements - I was so close to say "shut the f.. up!"

Since that I usually go either to unpopular 'underground' movies or I wait minimum 2 weeks to enjoy the movie in an nearly empty cinema.

  • lol well thats all true people talk when they watch movies it does tend to get annyoing but c rying babys are far much worst lol

  • people talking can really ruin a movie, but if it's a bad movie and the people are funny, it can actually improve the experience. that's a rare circumstance though; generally i totally agree with you.

  • Totally agree with you Carl, but the next time it happens, briefly leave the theatre room and complain to one of the floor staff, they should kick the people out for being disruptive during the movie.

I worked in a cinema, when I was in collage, I used to tell people to get out all the time and if they refused, I'd call security and have them dragged out (no joke)

  • Worse than people talking at the movie is when someone tries to talk to you just when you're focused on a reading or a game. Damn that makes me mad.

  • If it's any consolation, Carl, There is a very special level of hell, and it's reserved exclusively for child molesters, and people who talk at the theater.

  • I totally agree with you carl! it happens here in the UK as well! It's Sooooo ANNOYING!!!

  • 12 is a lot, but you're from central america...uhhhh...in peru they're like 3 bucks.

  • They were talking to actors in the screen??

  • nice background music..lolz

  • i know what you mean.

    So annoying

  • Comment removed

  • wow....

  • Its called not being rude. And respecting a lady. Get some manners, STRAIGHTY.

  • Well seeing as how he's gay I guess that would make him a gayfa....yeah...at least he's got a brain, detrats. If he told them to "shut the fuck up" that would be rude on his part, therefore going against the entire purpose of this video

  • nice u basturd

  • THANK YOU!

  • hahahah

  • for izzle serioous. hahah. ACTUALLY ive only witness ONCE that someone talked in the middle of the movie. it was "the eye" and these black teenage girls we like "Dont go in there.. omfg dat b!tch is gonna go in there" i was cracking up.

so therefore it didnt bother me one bit :P

and tickets here are only 8.50 and i have a card so only 5.50 :P

  • As a filmmaker, I couldn't agree more, another thing is the constant texting during the movie, the light really causes a distraction for me presonally, but like you said the talking really ruins the greatness of watching a film in a cinema, which is where a film should be watched. Perhaps in the near future, people will have the common decency to not be as selfish and provide a better atmosphere for the audience. One can only hope.

  • It happens here too.

I hate it. I never go to theaters anymore.

  • i totally agree with u. i hate it too

  • ahh it was a scary movie? You should have screamed and "accidently" thrown your popcorn (box and all) directly at her face

what's she gunna do? complain that you ruined her conversation?

  • When I was young, if you talked in the theatre, you would be shushed up by many others in the audience. Nowadays, so many don't even acknowlege others within their midst when out in public. It's too bad there's such a lack of courtesy and regard for others.

  • wow $12 is a lot. In my country (costa rica) is just $4 and you can really enjoy it.

  • I totally agree with you. I went to a band competition once and this group of girls kept screaming all through this one band's performance. They should have been kicked out. They completely ruined it for me. Same thing with what you experienced. Too bad theatre employees don't walk through to stop this crap.

  • I love you

  • Not that i don't agree with you, but if your talkin about Paranormal, u didn't miss much, it wasnt good

  • in finland movie-ticket is only 9 euros. :]

  • Amen!

  • This is the main reason I wait for the DVD and buy it, so I can enjoy it, and the damn cell phones.....OMG Luv your vids "Brent"

  • ....you are sooo right!!

  • not in Cali... we be quiet here hahaha

  • Even when your in the lobby.

  • Carl, the theatre I go to has banned cell phone use, and if you're caught with your phone you must leave =)

  • wait isnt that part of the experience?

  • okay, so I went to go see paranormal activity this past weekend in the east village and the same thing happened to me.

the best theater in nyc that I've found (at least in one year of living here) is Kips Bay at 32nd and 2nd. I usually don't tell with talkies there.

I heart your video though. I've been to so many movies in new york where people have done this... :-( Try Kips Bay, maybe it'll work for you too

  • Really..

    Chill.

  • Carl! what you gotta do is grow some balls, turn to them, and say "ayo, shut up." :)

  • Hey boy!

I totally agreee with U...Here in Paris it's not so a disaster but sometimes it depends on movy or theatre ... Come and try ;o) almost a french drama at 2 pm (^-^)

  • You are really calm =) I would have gotten up, walked over to the girl, grabbed her phone and snapped it in half. I would then move on to telling her and all of her friends to shut the fuck up ^_^ where as then, I would return to my seat, and enjoy what was left of the movie. If they did it again? I would whip out a can of pepper spray and blind them - At least then my entertainment would be satisfied.

  • hahahahahahahahaha

  • i liked the way you started to scream but didnt. classic.

  • HAHAHAHAH well i totally get your point but you should try going to the movie theater here in Venezuela! it's just a disaster! i just try to buy it or maybe wait for it to be on Tv.... maybe you should try going at a not so crowded time! it kinda works for me!

  • Best to get up and move when that happens. Sometimes the theatre is too crowded for this to be possible, but quite often there are seats away from the annoying ppl that one can easily move to.

  • IDK if in NYC they give students discounts if they show their ID. cuz in all the theaters that i've gone to in NY they do... and here the ticket is like 10.50 and i get it for like 7 something.. and thats when my friend isnt working in the theater.. cuz when he is i just pay like 5... :D

  • you are very talented and original. this is interesting and new.

  • Were the group of girls black?? cause that would be very stereotypical and kind of funny...

  • if not then they would have been hispanic.. cuz for some reason these girls DONT SHUT UP!!!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA and were they drinking grape koolaid and eating ice cold watermelon? HAHAHAHAHA

  • and thats a major reason why i rarely go to the movie theatre. unless its a real "must see" then i often wait for it to come on cable tv. and yes you can go complain about unruly and loud people...good luck with that...one of my best friends did that, the management did'nt care. at 12.50 a shot, save your money carl!

  • if they dont shut up just go and speak to an usher they should have a word with them. i work in a cinema and the other people were talkin in the movie and i told them to shut up and they just kept talkin so i kicked them out of the cinema but if u are waychin the movie just cum out tell the staff where about they are roughly and what they look like and they'll go and have a word it takes a couple of minutes and then u can watch your movir in peace

  • Yes, a huge pet peeve of mine. Luckily, I don't have much of a problem politely telling people to keep it quiet. If I paid, and was looking forward to seeing it etc., I'm not going to sit there and have my experience ruined. It takes guts, but just say it in the politest way possible, and use an "easy-going" voice/smart wording.

  • I'm swedish, and I go to the movies now and then, but I can honestly saya that I havent experienced this often. I mean, someone actually answering their phone? God, how rude! Mostly people keep quiet, I mean people laugh, people scream and so on, but it's not like it bothers me. I actually enjoy seeing/hearing other peoples expressions when I'm at the movies, not like I would like people to talk and make unprovoked noice constantly.

  • OMG STOP COMPLAINING, i mean ur videos are great, but your last 5 vidoes or so are just about u complaining at something!!

  • GO CARL! You make a very good point.

  • people are so immature at the movies. ughh

  • I agree. I guess that's why I watch movies at home on DVD. I have a large screen, so WTF!

  • same in austria.. when i watched district 9 (just because of jackson of course) there were some guys and they were laughing wehn the people exploded and i mean it`s a real serious movie and nothing to laugh about... so i can not laugh when people die.. im sorry. tz...

  • I know what you are talking about, I worked at a theatre for 9 yrs. We had to remove some people because they wouldn't be quiet that is all they did was talk. Great video Thanks

  • same in spain :(

  • Mainly young people are the same in England too...

  • that's why I take a water gun with me! lol, just kidding, but it's a good idea...

  • It happens in japan too.

I have already given up enjoying movies in the movie theater.

  • I'd like 2 say it's really upset if sb. talked during the favouriate movie...

  • uugh i love you...

btw i agree ppl need to shutup, usually just tell them to shhhh...lol

    xoxoxoxoxox

  • people are idiots Carl.

  • One when I Asked someone politely to please stop talking she went to the manager and said I was sexually harassing her! There are some sick people out there, so be careful. Fortunately for me I was with a big bruiser and I'm so smart with words that we made this woman look like an idiot and we were given free tickets. Your pleas for us "all to grow up" will never happen; we are getting worse and worse.

  • they talk because they are afraid of the scary movie, talking makes them relax during the scary scenes. at theaters in paris the cellphone signal is dead. but i love it in tokyo, people here respect each other....

  • it's usually a group of teenagers who do it who talk extremely loud and have no respect for other people. they actually do it cos they think they're rebels and think they're cool for doing it.

I'm a teen myself but i actually HATE it when people talk during a movie, it's like STFU

  • I was at a concert once and while the concert is going on this woman behind me is calling home incessantly to check with the baby sitter to see how the kids are doing. I didn't pay $60+ (at the time) to listen to her yammer on about her kids. If she was so worried about her kids, she should have just bought the artist's CD and played that at home instead. I feel your pain, Carl.

  • $12.15? You paid that much just to see a movie? Goddam. Where I live it cost $6.75

People are so annoying. I was like "SHUT THE FUCK UP! GOD DAMMIT!!!" When these people were having a whole conversation about mustangs.

  • I worked in a movie theater. We had to go inspect the movie and do random walk through while it was playing. At the entrance to the theater it says to turn off cell phones and so the the advertisement before the movie starts. Next time that happens tell someone and do something when it is happening!!!

  • LOL omg was it Paranormal Activity?

cuz EVERYONE was F*cking talking during that and the girls tht were talking actually got yelled at by the whole theatre o_o

"SHUT THE FUCK UP STUPID BITCH" xDDD..

  • i agree

  • we haven't gone anywhere in society. by deciding to go to the theatre, you are taking the chance of being disturbed by other people around you, it just happens, and has always been happening. i just think it is the risk you take going to a public theatre.

  • jizz

  • I don't think shouting to tell the to shut up helps. I mean, your just being a loud ass yourself. Sure it helps, but your contradicting the point in being quiet. Either tell them quietly, ask one of the workers to kick them out, or sit the heck down and go through it. After the movie, call them out. Simple as that. :D

  • I couldn't agree more. I very seldom go because of how rude peole can be.

  • Go to the late show. Also consider going to the late show on non-weekend nights. I have no problems with talking here in San Francisco at late shows. Come to think of it, people here don't seem to talk during movies, at least not at the later shows, 10pm and midnight. Also, if you go on opening night or close to it, people are paying attention, and not talking, especially at the big movies.

  • I love youu boy.

  • AGREE.

  • dont say it here

    say it to those people

  • cute and funny

  • yea about a 5 months ago went to see hangover some slutty blond yaking on her phone was disturbing the whole audience i stood up and told her to shut the fuck up she did and left the movie

  • you're right it happens in every theaters and is so unpleased because they don't let me see the film i chose but I know there are many kind of people in this world so i think we need to learn to deal with them or at least to find a way to do it.

people only change their way to be when they want

  • sorry unpleasant

  • It does suck for sure. It's amazing that people won't shut up during a movie.

  • I would have just yelled out SHUT UP to those girls...lol

  • good thing I wasnt there, id say SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GET OUT!

  • There was epic music in the background(hehe) WOW it's 12 bucks there? it's 9 where I am. And yeah, you can complainto a manager, they can get removed from the theater. And sorry, but I do that in a scary movie when i get scared. But if someone told me to shut up(In a nice way) I will.

  • I know what you mean! I was watching a movie and this woman brought this little kid into the movie and he was yelling out things, oh and the mother did not do anything he was like 9! People cant control the talking.

  • oh gosh, i hate it when people scream for no reason in movie theaters. just throw popcorn at them lol

  • I'm COMPLETELY with you on this. Oh, does it ever frustrate me when people ruin everybody else's theater experience!

For example, when I went to go see Knowing (a few months back), there was this guy next to me who would literally shout his opinion towards anything that happened in the movie. (Ex: "GO GET THE KIDS, SCREW THE BITCH!). It was such a disturbance that I felt like walking out of the theater and getting my money back.

And I agree - What has society come to?

  • I know the feeling... Some people should learn to keep their mouths shut.

And yet I committed hypocrisy once and spoke... so yeah. Sorry.

  • I get that all the time in NJ, people just don't care bc they think its funny and just want the attention on themselves.

  • my sister is like that i hate going to the movies with her she always ask question like i know the answer and if she miss a part in the movie she would be like what i miss tell me uhh it pisses me off

  • HA! I got a ""Christian Videos" ad in you vid... :P

  • I know exactly what you mean. I saw a scary movie and the guy to my right was freeeeaking out the entire time. It was so inappropriate.

  • This is just me, if it was too overbearing, I would walk up and let the staff know so they could do something about it. Then I would probably ask for my money back and leave the theater.

  • I think theater rudeness is worse in NYC, and perhaps other large cities. I don't see this sort of thing much here in NH.

  • i just hate when parents bring their kids and give them all little bags and boxes of candy. 12am showings are the WORSE they friggen clap and cheer its bad.

  • I dont go to theaters anymore because nobody has any respect for other people.

  • I <3 your videos, you speak the truth!!!!!! haha

  • I can totally relate to this. I was going to the movies with friends to see "Push". There were these other teens who wouldn't she up, and we got really annoyed, but maintained our composure. One of my friends eventually screamed at the to STFU. A few minutes later, one of the employees arrives, turns on his iPod, and blasts some heavy metal. He then told US to keep quiet, and we're all like, WTF?! That is the last time I EVER go to that theater.

  • love the vid, thats why i don't go to certain theaters, the ritz in philadelphia and south jersey are the best for people who do not talk and mess around in when the movie is on, You should go complain, maybe get a comp. but lowes rarely do that, just go to theaters that take care of their patrons, Enjoy whatever you see

  • Yes you can and should complain. Ask for a refund. You did not go to the theater to experience the other people.

It's rude. Some people are just that way. But if you let the theater management know with your $ vote, it will help. Most theaters in this town discourage disruption.

    -

    Be politely but firmly outspoken!

  • I live in Europe and I never deal with this problem in the movies, ever. That may be partly because I don't share the same taste in movies as teenagers, but I think it's more about people's mommas raising them right. Reason Number 2719 to emigrate.

  • sorry if i do that sometime

  • Watch a live performance, like a play. It's been my experience that people are less inclined to act like asses when they can clearly see that they're interrupting real people trying to do their jobs.

Plus, you're in New York. You'll be hard-pressed to find better theatre anywhere else.

  • Comment removed

  • Hmm, is it okay for a woman and a man to have a gay relationship? xD

  • Some people should just not be allowed in the theatre. it's not just movies its plays. I was watching gypsy and it was ruined by this old lady behind me talking to her friend. Then I asked her if she could keep it down, and she yelled at me, then complained every time I shifted in my seat.

  • ugh last time that happened to me,i turned around and was like "can you please be quiet" and they said "well next time mind your own damn business" i turned around a
