Yeah Christmas is very corrupt. But I like Christmas because we're celebrating the birth of Jesus (at least that's what it's supposed to be). Jesus was only born on ONE day. Valentine's Day celebrates love, which is supposed to happen everyday anyway. One could argue that Mother's and Father's Day are the same thing, but those aren't corrupt at all. Those are happy days. :)

totally agree! i feel like this every valentines day and my parents always dump me at my house alone and all my friends have a boyfriend so they are always hanging out with them. and i always cry on valentines day. it REALLY does suck.

Every holiday in the year has become consumer orientated with a couple of exceptions, and of course I can't speak for foreign holidays. I look around myself, in this so called life, for meaning and it seems that I only ever find bullshit that people perpetuate. I can only guess that most people get something out of v-day because why the hell else do people insist on celebrating it. On easter I say "don't get me eggs, I'm not getting you any" and they buy eggs and attempt guilt trips.doesn't work

I don't hate love but why have a day for singles awareness and to celebrate all this? I am always happy when the week of Valentine's Day is over. I can't stand those couples that act like they have to wear red, buy each other gifts with the color red in them, have to go out to eat and have a romantic date associated with wine or chocolate, and the woman gets upset when her boyfriend doesn't want to do anything for that day. Gets annoying. I can make my girl feel important other days.

Valentines day is just a popularity contest... at my Elementary school classes, if you wanted to give valentines, they had to be for everyone. I see how this is good for fairness... but it never worked out for me... while everyone had one from everyone in the class... i ended up with 2 or 3 and that was from the only people i was friends with at the time. But i also focus on the fact that people find a reason this one day to love somebody. I say love everybody everyday. Dont discriminate...

i dont hate valentines day but i dont see why people see this as a day of love between a couple. it can be between friends or family also. i have single friends that dont realize they arent alone on valentines day. they have friends that are willing to be with them, too. im going to ask my bf to not celebrate valentines day as anything special. im going to try and make my friends feel better, and still spend time with him so everyone i love feels loved. <3

Yeah Christmas is very corrupt. But I like Christmas because we're celebrating the birth of Jesus (at least that's what it's supposed to be). Jesus was only born on ONE day. Valentine's Day celebrates love, which is supposed to happen everyday anyway. One could argue that Mother's and Father's Day are the same thing, but those aren't corrupt at all. Those are happy days. :)

Whatever all you Valentine's Day Scrooges! Valentine's Day is the day to celebrate LOVE. What's so wrong with that?? It doesnt have to be with a couple. So should everyone else not celebrate thanksgiving because you have no reason to be thankful or labor day because you have to work??? There are plenty of reasons to hate it. For me, it's not a matter of being lonely. I just get sick of people spending all their money on a gf/bf for this stupid day. I just think it's stupid to have a day to celebrate love. We celebrate Christmas because it's Jesus' birthday. We celebrate the 4th of July because it's the day of our independence. So do we celebrate Valentine's Day because it's the day to love? No. Love is EVERYday.
