  • How did you get 576MB of RAM on this unit? I thought it has a maximum limit of 512MB?

  • @talldude123 The later generation P3's with the intel 810 or 815 chipset is limited to 512MB, the older ones with the intel 440 could have 1.5GB or 2GB

  • @tghbenz99 Thanks. BTW, do you know if the Deskpro EN (933mhz) model supports AGP 8X? Or does it only support AGP 4X? I'm trying to upgrade the video.

  • @davejoshmom1 Busy at work, not much time for playing with my computers.

    Thanks for asking

  • Hello im Alex , and was wonder about something . I have a Dell desktop running Windows Me , and a computer running windows 95. Ok the point is can a just put a Windows 7 disk into the computer and it will install , or do I have to buy other stuff for the computer.

By the way that you so much for making the video I subscribed and have a nice day :)

  • The computer must have atleast 512MB of ram to intstall windows 7, also it must have a DVD drive and a hard drive atleast 8GB in size, the motherboard needs to support ACPI as well or windows will probably bluescreen after its installed.

  • I'm really surprised and impressed at how well Win 7 runs on that machine. Kudos, dude!

  • How much RAM does the motherboard support?

  • I have 3 Pentium III DeskPro's like this one

They're missing the designed for stickers but 2 of them work and one dose not.

    P3 450 mhz, 128mb ram, 6.4GB hard drive,windows 2000, computers are from 1999

  • what sound drivers do you used for this pc?

  • Win 7 did not support the onboard ESS sound chip so I used a C-Media pci sound card and the XP drivers for it.

  • Win 7 and XP best i know the req.. for win 7 my uncle have p4 pc specs: 1.00GHZ AMD 502MB RAM 120GB HD (IT NEEDS 512MB RAM) but there is nothing bad i try the same u do on my old PenT 2 and w7 works like charm! thank u

  • @win87296 Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

  • I had one of these when i was 11, i didn't know how these rackets for the CD, DVD, HD etc. worked so i just glued them together, the case was just fucking up and everything, so i had to threw it away because there weren't any Windows 98 drivers for it, i wish i never did that.

  • greath

  • I have a intel Pentium III 1000MHZ , 256mb of ram 32mb of video ,20gb+16gb of free disk space , could i run -win 7? please answer me soon.

  • @ronaldoxmcdonaldox

You will need at least 512MB of ram and your motherboard has to be ACPI compliant.

  • @tghbenz99 You need to install wuth 512mb, then you go all down to 192 I believe

  • @ronaldoxmcdonaldox

I have installed Win7 on a Compaq deskpro EN (small form factor) with a P3 CPU with 933mhz, 512mb SD-ram and 2mb grafik

    /watch?v=DJ_b0ddcSpg

  • will it work with a compaq armada with with 500 mhz p3? it has 256 mb ram expandable to 576 also it came with windows 2000 but says designed for windows 98. it came with a 20 gb hard drive but i upgraded it to 80 gb.

  • @tghbenz99 nice acoustics to nothing else matters

  • j'avait cette ordinateur. il tournait sous windows nt workstation 4.0

  • drivers?

  • Amazing how you can install WIndows 7 on an old computer. If you can do it on and old one you can do it on almost any one,

  • my compaq deskpro 350 mhz Intel Pentium 2 MMX processor

  • Ok... but its not as responsive... ur pc somehow managed to install an ultimate! not a basic..i'm impressed

  • to bad compaq died after the 1990s

  • How is it possible? I couldn't even do it on a P4 1300MHZ Intel 850 system (Windows 7 DVD didn't boot but Windows XP CD-rom Booted)

  • You could have dual booted the other OS & windows 7 beta or put a blank hard drive in the machine like my dell dimension xps R450 which dual boots windows 98 and windows vista.

  • I have that compaq startup on my older deskpro

  • I got the same one! Its downsatirs in the broken closet! Lol

  • uhh lo lograste yo ya estaba esperando a que se incendiara esa pobre compu

    yo lo voy a intentar

  • Beater not Baiter lol

    but nice :-)

  • I have the tower version of that same model, still in daily use. It was originally a PII-400 and I upgraded it to a PIII-600. It was just a plug-and-play upgrade because CPUs both use Slot 1. It is still running Windows 98SE, but I could put XP on it and it would run just fine. These older Compaqs a very solid, reliable computers. The only thing I've had go wrong on them is some bad aftermarket RAM.

  • congraulations! for installing windows 7 successfuly =D

just saying cause many people got fatal error during installation

i can their feel their pain =(

  • does it run fast i have a p2 with 448 mb of ram

  • iv got one of these deskpro 333mhz pcs running xp with an 80 gig hard drive 512 mb of ram and a geforce 6200 grafix card and its very fast. its amazing what you can do with an old pc like these deskpro's

  • I don't think can install Windows 7 with the following specs that u use.

  • metallica nothing else maters orchistra version

  • name music

  • @rafal199401 Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

  • I had one of these computers, deskpro 450mhz, it was fast enough to watch youtube videos inside the web browser, with a regular resolution of 1024x768 (not fast enough for full screen) and I could burn a dvd in less than 4 minutes with lg dvd burner 16x... I still think this computer is awesome for the old years. It does support hard drives bigger than 128gb parallel ata.

  • I have a Pentium III , and its only 933mgz... how can I juice it up a bit?? e.g upto 1.2 ghz?

  • hunt around for an old pentium3 they went up to 1400 mhz and you can get them for pennies!

  • It runs pretty fast for something that falls well below the minimal system requirements. Well done.

  • Is this Pentium II Xeon?

  • No. it is a regular pentium 2, although it was one of the later ones that had a 100mhx fsb

  • @neelwebs No it isn't, not even overclocked.

  • Wow! How do you do this? I LOVE IT.

  • That was awesome! I'm jealous, that thing runs 7 better than my Compaq Presario ran Vista! I'm also surprised how well that ATI 3D Rage Pro did with stuff like the animation from 2:08 to 2:23. The crappy AGP 1x SiS 530 video chipset in my Compaq Presario would have givin me about 2 FPS in an animation like that.

Awesome video, keep it up! I'm gonna post my boot of Vista on my Compaq Presario as a response.

  • Now I wonder if the non beta will run on the same machine. Of course even if it would. One would have to ask. Why? It would be insanely slow.

  • OMG that's awesome!!! sooo cool !!! :) :) :)
