@talldude123 The later generation P3's with the intel 810 or 815 chipset is limited to 512MB, the older ones with the intel 440 could have 1.5GB or 2GB
@tghbenz99 Thanks. BTW, do you know if the Deskpro EN (933mhz) model supports AGP 8X? Or does it only support AGP 4X? I'm trying to upgrade the video.
Hello im Alex , and was wonder about something . I have a Dell desktop running Windows Me , and a computer running windows 95. Ok the point is can a just put a Windows 7 disk into the computer and it will install , or do I have to buy other stuff for the computer.
By the way that you so much for making the video I subscribed and have a nice day :)
The computer must have atleast 512MB of ram to intstall windows 7, also it must have a DVD drive and a hard drive atleast 8GB in size, the motherboard needs to support ACPI as well or windows will probably bluescreen after its installed.
Win 7 and XP best i know the req.. for win 7 my uncle have p4 pc specs: 1.00GHZ AMD 502MB RAM 120GB HD (IT NEEDS 512MB RAM) but there is nothing bad i try the same u do on my old PenT 2 and w7 works like charm! thank u
I had one of these when i was 11, i didn't know how these rackets for the CD, DVD, HD etc. worked so i just glued them together, the case was just fucking up and everything, so i had to threw it away because there weren't any Windows 98 drivers for it, i wish i never did that.
will it work with a compaq armada with with 500 mhz p3? it has 256 mb ram expandable to 576 also it came with windows 2000 but says designed for windows 98. it came with a 20 gb hard drive but i upgraded it to 80 gb.
You could have dual booted the other OS & windows 7 beta or put a blank hard drive in the machine like my dell dimension xps R450 which dual boots windows 98 and windows vista.
I have the tower version of that same model, still in daily use. It was originally a PII-400 and I upgraded it to a PIII-600. It was just a plug-and-play upgrade because CPUs both use Slot 1. It is still running Windows 98SE, but I could put XP on it and it would run just fine. These older Compaqs a very solid, reliable computers. The only thing I've had go wrong on them is some bad aftermarket RAM.
iv got one of these deskpro 333mhz pcs running xp with an 80 gig hard drive 512 mb of ram and a geforce 6200 grafix card and its very fast. its amazing what you can do with an old pc like these deskpro's
I had one of these computers, deskpro 450mhz, it was fast enough to watch youtube videos inside the web browser, with a regular resolution of 1024x768 (not fast enough for full screen) and I could burn a dvd in less than 4 minutes with lg dvd burner 16x... I still think this computer is awesome for the old years. It does support hard drives bigger than 128gb parallel ata.
That was awesome! I'm jealous, that thing runs 7 better than my Compaq Presario ran Vista! I'm also surprised how well that ATI 3D Rage Pro did with stuff like the animation from 2:08 to 2:23. The crappy AGP 1x SiS 530 video chipset in my Compaq Presario would have givin me about 2 FPS in an animation like that.
Awesome video, keep it up! I'm gonna post my boot of Vista on my Compaq Presario as a response.
How did you get 576MB of RAM on this unit? I thought it has a maximum limit of 512MB?

what sound drivers do you used for this pc?
EdwardmarcX 1 year ago
Win 7 did not support the onboard ESS sound chip so I used a C-Media pci sound card and the XP drivers for it.

@ronaldoxmcdonaldox
You will need at least 512MB of ram and your motherboard has to be ACPI compliant.
tghbenz99 1 year ago
@tghbenz99 You need to install wuth 512mb, then you go all down to 192 I believe
