I think that is a fake crocodile. No croc would be able to stand still that long and that perfectly in the face of a pack of wild dogs.

That's how you teach young pups to develop the fast reflexes needed to survive in the wild: testing & developing such reflexes on deadly animals that can kill with one bite! This is why these dogs are so fit, muscle & bone wise, so they could run down their prey, even if it takes miles & miles of hard, fast running! The adult & experienced dogs are to the periphery, standing guard, making sure a hyena or lion doesn't take the family by surprise, allowing the young pups to have some deadly fun.
