  • @BaronVonPenguin

    Thanks Baron.

  • Not only was this is a terrific piece of editing, but you did a commendable job of keeping this trailer virtually spoiler free. I can only imagine how hard it was for you to resist including that final reaction shot of Matthau!

    Thanks for this!

  • @zombiewhacker

    ....thank you.

  • @zerokomma yes- fantastic editing - real feel for the music and the movement that goes with it - the sort of thing I'd like to be able to do ..

  • 2 people missed their train.

  • Nice editing practice or a natural you have a talent

  • Great movie -- but I remember it being in black and white. Loved Jerry Stiller and Matthau together -- great lines -- "Even great men have to pee."

  • Joie Chitwood was the MAN! Don't forget to add him to your tags.

This movie had one of the BEST endings of all time. Matthau's expression was priceless!

  • 2 people flew the train to Cuba.

  • This has got to be the coolest movie and music score of the 70's. I was 20 when this came out and saw it at the theatre.

  • POMPLAMOOSE SENT ME!

  • Who's here because of pomplamoose?

  • @huckfinn12453

    ....whats pomplamoose?!?!?

  • @zerokomma Its a music group here on youtube!

  • @huckfinn12453

    ....thanks for the info mate.Cheers.

  • @huckfinn12453

Yep , must admit Jack Conte's enthusiasm brought me here. Never heard it before and I know a lot of music. 12 tone funk grooves need more love.

  • @huckfinn12453

    I'm here because of pomplamoose!

  • fabulous editing job! perfectly timed to what is surely the phattest and filthiest theme tune in movie history!

  • @danbo1984

    thanks.

  • Love those Plymouth Fury cop cars!!! Miss 'em!

  • Loved this movie when it came out in 73. Thanks for this vid.

  • @ukkfayooyay

  • Well done zerokomma, excellent editing.

  • @neverguessuk

    ...thanks bud.

  • @falassarna

...o enas itan o Tony Scott, apo zileia ekane dislike kai o allos itan o Theodoros Aggelopoulos.....ap katharo fthono kai aftos o kioftes. Zito o Paredrrrrrr.

  • Love it!!

  • @gatefoldrecords

    thanks!

  • I agree! This soundtrack rocks! Movie, cast, soundtrack, everything about the original blows the remake off the map!

  • Words cannot describe how amazing this tune is!

Could listen to this all day.

The movie, the cast just pisses over all of todays releases.

How come they dont make movies like this anymore????

Would be Producers and Directors TAKE NOTE!!!!

  • niiiiice! sweet editing job. Just watched the movie and wanted to check out the soundtrack. your video really captures the spirit of the movie.

  • @paxamericanafilms

    thank u...glad you enjoyed it.

  • Love it! They should re-release the original with this as the trailer, because the remake was fucking pitiful.

  • WHY did anyone think this needed to be remade?

And this is a brilliant video.

  • Robert shaw from Jaws, great actor

  • @vikings844 Besides being a good actor, he was also a pretty good novelist and playwright. (Although, to be honest, he was a better actor than either.)

  • awesome edit zerokomma, loved it! thank you.

  • @lgoshay

    yer welcome mate.

  • I've never seen the original, but others who've seen it maintain that it's far superior than the re-make. Your vid is excellent, seamless editing which marries well with the kick-ass soundtrack!

  • @Innominata2000AD

...thank you for the comment and yes, the original rules.

  • Love this sound track!!! ...

  • I haven't actually seen this movie, but I've seen the remake with John Travolata&DenselWashington, and I gotta say, this one looks CRAP compared to the modern one :)) xx

  • @Funkyshopaholic

...bold statement bud, my vid looks definitely like crap but the movie is one of the best out there. To each his own i guess, give it a shot though...remake could easily be considered a crime against humanity in my book. Cheers

  • Comment removed

  • @zerokomma Amen to that, the remake is shocking. For one it doesn't have the great ending that this one has. By the way great job on this video, could easily have been the trailer for the movie.

  • @birdman3120

thanks bud for yer cool comments

  • @zerokomma No problem, it's a great piece of work

  • @Funkyshopaholic please watch the original and i bet youll prefer it mate

  • @Funkyshopaholic:-I've seen the original but haven't seen the remake BUT from what I've seen of the remake it looks CRAP compared to the remake..see the logic?

By the way the original is badass!!

  • @Funkyshopaholic:-I haven't seen the remake but I've seen the original and I gotta say the remake looks CRAP compared to the original.(See the logic?)By the way the original is badass!!!

  • @Funkyshopaholic you stupid goddamn heathen ignorant, that's blasphemy for me, a cinephile who acknowledges the importance of the original film. knock yourself out with your shitty remakes, and keep listening your justin bieber and jonas brothers crap

  • @Funkyshopaholic The original is one of the best heist movies ever made. The remake is total shit.

  • Genius!

  • Pure genius! Thank you!

  • @dantanasgirl

    thank you, you're welcome.

  • Have to compliment a second time... LOVE the way you synchronized the soundtrack to edited the clips !

The sliding drunk passenger at the end is a CLASSIC ! ! !

  • This is awesome- you should do the same for SuperFly and Shaft!

  • @jvanclief

...thanks mate, will do the blaxpoitation thing.

  • I respect Denzel Washington and John Travolta but no remake can ever out do Matthau or Shaw. Plus, the soundtrack to the original was oh so funky. Long live the classics!

  • Absolutely brilliantly done. You've captured the essence of this classic movie perfectly. Not a dud edit in the entire thing. You should be very proud.

  • @SteveTheMovieGuy1

...thanks mate, appreciate yer comment. Cheers.

  • Outstanding!! These scores are one thing I miss about movies. This and the score from Airport(1970) are 2 of my favorites. Thanks for posting. Cool vid, too.

  • @Flatbedkw

    ...cheers mate. Thank u.

  • The vid that started it all, still fantastic on me 100th view!

  • You know something, you could have uploaded this music with just the movie poster for the picture and it still would have been awesome, but to upload this music with the video you have put with it... this has just blown my head off, Absolutely Brilliant.

  • @LeShark75

  • EXCELLENT!!! YOu should hit a few more, like "Thief"....great job zero!!!

  • Thanx Terry. The Thief is on my to do list for sure. Cheers.

  • Sorry Quentin Tarantino: Taking Of Pelham 123 had the ORIGINAL RESERVOIR DOGS! One of the best New York films ever made. Save your money with the remake, watch the original! Better actors, better script, better backdrop (New York in the '70's was grittier more bad-ass than New York now) and of course MUCH BETTER MUSIC SCORE! Hell Southern Comfort is using the original score in its commercials (unbelievable)! Great, great film with one of the best endings ever!

  • @solord

    ...yes man. Spoken wisely.Thymbs up.

  • The music Harry Gregson-Williams (who I admire also) created for the 2009 Tony Scott remake was nothing compared with David Shire's soundtrack for this !

  • Amazing, this theme is just awesome...

  • zerokomma you are the man! Nicely done ! ! !

  • ...thanks bud.

  • @zerokomma Terrific work, Zero! If I ever get a film done, I'll know who to call! Outstanding! I totally enjoyed it!

  • GREAT!

  • Geshundheit!!

  • Great editing,

  • I have this music on my mp3 player, I can listen to it anywhere, anytime. But I still prefer to come here and listen to it in this video, because the editing is just super-exciting and funny.

  • @KL0098

    Thank you broyher. i'm honored

  • I wonder, do you make trailers professionally? You should, this trailer is more exciting than most stuff I see in cinemas nowadays.

  • @KL0098

....no bud, doin this for funs sake. Thanks for yer comment though, appreciated. Cheers.

  • The sliding bum at the end...perfect. GJ on this vid...the remake did no justice to this classic.

  • The name of the 'other cop' seen at 0:54 is Kenneth McMillan who played 'Baron Harkonnen' in the 1984 film 'Dune'

  • Great character actor....love Dune. He was in Runaway Train too, another almost forgotten masterpiece of the 80's.

  • I'd forgotten that. Going to have to watch both films again.

  • One word...

    Fantastic!!

  • @TK42138

    Thank you.

  • I saw your Snake Shuffle clip the other day... this one is just as good. The editing is spot on!

  • ...thanks bud.

  • Robert Shaw was absolut awesome in this movie! well like usual. and Walter Matthau of course as well !

  • I think it's the drums that ultimately make this piece.

  • This is pure class. Travolta is so bad in the remake... Very good work.

  • ...fxaristo file.

  • One of my favourite soundtracks and a great film and, once again, a Brit (Robert Shaw) plays the main villain, ha ha.

  • that s gud man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Le-gendary! Awesome job, man!

  • Thanks bud.

  • This is the ULTIMATE New York movie, and I don't know why some readonable mind didn't stop the remake. Shire's score is outstanding!!!!

  • Brilliant!!!!

  • ONE WORD.... SWEET!

  • Thank you!

  • much better soundtrack than the new one with washington and travolta - so heavy

  • Hiya Mate!

Thanx A LOT for your invitation (happily accepted!!) and your comments. This is another KILLER edit of one of THE prime 70ies thrillers (the remake sucks!) with an absolutely STELLAR CAST and a score to die for!

Man, you are an expert, too!

I must recommend a couple of movies (not necessarily for an edit, but for pure fun to watch): Le salaire de la peur (masterpiece), Mechanic, Chato´s Land, Race with the devil, Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia (!!!), Junior Bonner, ...

  • Sostos!

  • What a great movie. And what an outstanding score. I allways thought it would be one of Schifrins works (like the mentioned Dirty Harry Score). But ok, here we go with David Shire.

Thanks for posting! Excellent track and cool vid :D

Man, I still dont get it why the produced this remake with John Travolta and Denzil Washington - I knew it from the first place I saw the teaser - this new pelham 123 will suck!

  • can mister robert shaw be any cooler i dont think so...one of my fave actors...jaws..was simply a masterpiece fantastic video..simply brilliant

  • You're a man of style Mr. Zincovix and yer vids are cracking! Immense screen presence Mr. Shaw,he was!

  • Génial.

  • Thank you

  • Remember when i saw this movie first time in 1974. A great classic today, and more better than the remake!! thx for posting this great Score Video.

  • superb video..one of yer best buddy..cracking cuts and superb soundtrack....5 stars on the way and faved.

  • I owned this soundtrack on VINYL back in the day, and eventually upgraded to the CD, of course. Over 30 years later it's STILL one my all time favourites. Why oh WHY can't any composer's today come up with grooves like this? It's all overblown symphonias or undercooked, flavourless synthesized robomusic from the Hans Zimmer Factory®. Lose the synths, fire three quarters of the orchestra and get back to basics, people! TRY and come up with something this good. PLEASE!

  • Agree completely.

  • Awesome score! I just watched the DVD. Having never heard about the theme song at all. As soon as the film opened with this groovy funk I was sold. I said "I don't care what the rest of the movie is like, this theme is so badass I give the film a thumbs up just for the song." The movie was really good too. I'm giving it 4 of 5 stars on Netflix.

  • A fantastic video for a fantastic film with an even better score...well done!!

  • Thank you

  • 70s Funk meets Arnold Schoenberg - awesome work David Shire!

  • doesn't get better than this - proper masterpiece!
