While its certainly amazing that a whitetail can grow to be that large, I have no desire to hunt this animal. I want the wily old buck who got big because he was smart, not well fed. The size of the animal is relative to the happiness of the hunter. My first deer was a small 7 point that I shot on Thanksgiving Day when I was 13 years old with my Grandpa. We still recount the memories of that weekend. For me, the best memories are the ones shared by story, not inches of antler.

I believe that i read an article on this deer. It died in captivity, because it got a fatal infection. While the deer was in velvet, its antlets rubbed the ground really badly and the wounds got terribly infected. The infetion spread to the deer's brain. Sad story. OOh...and about paying 20,000 to kill this deer?? Try a half a million or so. I know people that have paid 15 grand to shoot a 200 inch deer...this deer doubles that.

An animal that grows in the wild through trials of predation, seasons and food shortages to look like that would be a truly magnificent sight.

I believe that i read an article on this deer. It died in captivity, because it got a fatal infection. While the deer was in velvet, its antlets rubbed the ground really badly and the wounds got terribly infected. The infetion spread to the deer's brain. Sad story. OOh...and about paying 20,000 to kill this deer?? Try a half a million or so. I know people that have paid 15 grand to shoot a 200 inch deer...this deer doubles that.

Is deer farming becoming unethical? That deer can't have a very good quality of life with that mess on his head. I also don't believe that the deer's feed and genetics are what produced those antlers.. I have a feeling that deer is being injected with some type of growth hormone.
