@wiseye61 Actually, Amnesty's "written" actions (letters, cards, emails, faxes) helped free more than 40 000 political prisonners since 1961. Even if they don't read every single letters, leaders are affected when the receive thousands and thousands of letter...
Keep writing it makes a difference and they do read it.
