  • On your chest I see a cath. I assume you don't use a fistula in the arm? Is this a correct assumption?

I am on hemo at a clinic and the treatment is killing me slowly!

  • Hi, anyone please let me know the cost of this machine. my email is junkvista2@yahoo.com

  • Thank you for the excellent video. My partner is going on nexstage soon. Your video is very helpful. God Bless!

  • Hey man, I'm glad you're doing quite well on the dialysis. My kidney function is now only 24-25. I have to do either dialysis or transplant next year, or early 2011 at the very late. I read bad things regarding dialysis, but looking at your vid makes me thinking, maybe dialysis isn't all that bad after all.

    Cheers.

  • my grandmother had to go 3 times a week

until she died back on December 6 2000

they were careless the head lady would

not grandfather in the back with her and

they let her fall and it was on after that He told her you let her fall again I'll own you and the hospital

  • I was doin hd through a permacath at the hospital until my pd got going. i didnt like the idea of sell canulation. Are you still on hd?

  • Yup, still on HD. I tried PD almost a year ago, but I kept having leaks, and the catheter eventually had to be taken out. I was just glad I was able to just go back on NxStage (my machine was still in my bedroom-being used as a nightstand :). I would have hated it if I had to go back to in-centre when PD failed.

  • i've been on dialysis for over 9 months now. yeah i know what you mean about in centre treatment. more freedom dialysing at home. im on my 2nd PD catheter, the first flipped upwards inside me and couldnt get anything in or out. its going good now, i do over 9hours a night 7 nights a week. im going mad not working at the moment, how about yourself?

  • I can relate as far as working goes. I'm hoping I might be able to work again when I start doing my treatments at night. I'm still waiting for the machine to be approved for nocturnal treatments. I would really like to be able to work in a dialysis centre. I actually do part-time volunteer work at my home training centre right now (when I'm able). I'm glad your second PD cath is working, and I hope it continues to.

  • @sic04250f I hear you. I've been on PD for 16 months I'm going in tomorrow to reposition the catheter for the 3rd time. Will also have to do hemo for a few weeks while I heal to be able to resume PD. My Dr. has been telling me about home hemo but I'm a little leary and not quite ready to give up on the PD.

  • THANKS, for being brave enough to actually go thru your life with these treatments. My husband is on Dialysis, and I am his home partner with the nxstage program. He runs 3hrs a day 6 days a wk at 550, he also has to use 5 dialysate bags per treatment. The setup is a process, but for the conveince of this program it is worth it!!!!! I luv this machine as it has given a new outlook about the dialysis process.

  • Thanks for sharing this mate! I have to go to a dialysis center and I hate that. I'm 34 and have kidney problems since I was a kid. I did dialysis at the age of 16, but only for 9 months (thank God!), because I underwent a transplant.

Now, I'm again on dialysis for the last 5 months. I can't complain, I had my new kidney working for many years (still have it). But chronic rejection is a problem. Anyway, I hope you'll have a new kidney soon and you won't have to do that again!

    Take care.

  • You know price in USD for NXstage?

  • For a patient to do NxStage, the cost is covered by their insurance just like in-centre dialysis. If one were to buy the machine itself (which usually isn't possible due to FDA regulations), the price is around $20,000.

  • shit ill be scared to be doin dialysis at home somotimes i get dizzy i cramb and u feel like shit!!!i rather go 2 a dialysis center

  • I wish NxStage was available in other countries. Great vid Adam!

  • Probably has high negative pressures with standard hookup orientation causing the machine to alarm. This can occur secondary to either catheter position within the vessels or from deposition of clotting factors on the surface of the catheter causing a fibrin sheath. The nice thing about daily home hemo is that solute clearance per week for him will still exceed what he would achieve on standard thrice weekly hemo. I second the comments of patientspride below.

  • Great job man. I see that you are connecting red to blue, and blue to red from the machine to your catheter. Can you get flows connecting red-red and blue-blue? Should improve clearance a bit as that is how they are designed.

  • I haven't been able to run the "right" way since I got the catheter. Between then and now, I've had a graft that worked fine for a couple months, and then started messing up bad enough for me to have to get a new catheter. Strangely enough, this catheter won't work unless I reverse the lines also!

  • I had to do it both ways cuz sometimes my catheter didnt work so yea...lol but now i have a transplant so thats done and over with for now!! hope i dont have to go back to it ever cuz it was a pain in my behind!!

  • God Bless you. Keep going with your treatment!

  • awesome

  • thats terrible........ u have to d othsi everyday?

  • sorry for the late reply. I do dialysis six days/week for around two hours per treatment. When I first started, I thought my life was pretty much over. Then I discovered home dialysis. With this, I'm in control of my treatment, and I get better dialysis, so I feel normal most of the time. I still hate dialysis, but it's not as bad as I thought a year ago when I started.

  • this looks terrible.. i feel so bad... how does one get a problem to the point where they need ot do this?

  • well their kidneys dont work or the only work 10% or less and thats when they need to start the diaylsis!! it can happend to anyone!! even babies...i did this at age 15-17 but one for a yr cuz i got my transplant and i was a healthy person my whole life now im 19 so it wasnt that long ago i did this....

  • I'm still watching you. This is a great way to watch your progress with home hemo. Thank you for doing this! How do you like it opposed to peritoneal dialysis? I suggest to anyone who is losing their kidney function to learn about both hemo and peritoneal dialysis and choose what works best for their lifestyle. If you are diabetic or have hypertension, get your kidney function tested. I'm glad that hemo can be done at home now! I'm cheering you on all the way. Good job.

  • Oh my goodness, only one word.."WOW!" Great job on this video...thanks for sharing! Seems that only you and I are the only ones on Youtube who have done Nxstage videos! I hope more Nxstagers will come forward and do this...
