Eric is a down to earth guy. I've hung out w/ him personally. Super cool, aware, sensitive humanistic man with a self deprecating humor. Spiritually devoted as well. Eric is a huge inspiration to me, and I suspect many others.
Personally, i'm going to have to agree with foma42 on this to a degree, no doubt Eric is a very talented guitarist, but it seems he is too interested in tricks rather than the music itself.
@TWinterMusic imo. i wouldnt say he is more interested in his tricks. i would say that he is interested in expanding the boundaries or music. plus you can't really call those tricks. his music is on time and original. he plays a bass line and rythm at the same time. his "tricks" are the music. it wouldn't be what it is without his "tricks".
@smeaglerG i suppose you could say he is 'expanding the boundaries of music' but It's not something i could tap my foot to or hum the melody because there is no constant rhythm. which for me, are the most important aspects of a song if you want to everybody to be able to relate.
But that's just me, some people just like to be impressed with thought to be impossible feats.
Eric is friends with my old guitar teacher. I got see him live a couple times and met him once as well. He's a much more talented guitarist than people realize, and he's incredible live. But he and his music is so out there.....
@foma42 dude, are you kidding me? Eric is awesome. You need loads of lessons before you critique someone so far out of your league. You should repent and then beg Eric to give you some guitar lessons...you need them!
Wow, that is amazing and way groovy Eric! Your skill is unbelievable. Thank goodness for youtube! In this far away land it is nice to see videos from back home in Indiana! Came across sheet music for Norweigian Woods you made up for one of your lessons with my son! Sure would like to hear you play that in a video. hint hint. Thanks for the video.
