I know man! I agree about Rob, I always thought he was super essential. I think Rob wanted to do family stuff, and Mark left to persue production. Mark was originally the producer for the first Mae recordings, and contributed to Bass, then they asked him to join the band for the mean time and just became a permanent member when they blew up.
