My wife is a teacher and she plays this for her class at the beginning of the school year to help kids realize that you don't want to go nowhere and be nothing...don't be the nowhere man, and she sometimes plays the yellow submarine movie too. She's seriously a hip gal.
@sgtpep5 they were showing respect to The Beatles by covering the song. There weren't being assholes about it. If they aren't up to your "standards" then you don't have to listen to it.

@soulseeker300 word, the people I mentioned definitely aren't as talented as musicians from 50 years ago. Like Beethoven wasn't as talented as Haydn. Except you have to be beyond batshit to even contemplate the idea that anyone in the Beatles were better musicians than SP. Maybe more talented songwriters, but Paul McCartney has written garbage since he created Wings.
@RubHerSoul1 "Sounds like a fifth-rate bar band." That's funny because listen to Bury Me, Siva, Disarm, Today, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Tonight Tonight, Perfect, Dusty And Pistol Pete, The Everlasting Gaze, Stand Inside Your Love, That's The Way My Love Is, The Rose March, Tom Tom, Owata, nad As Rome Burns. You will hear the raw glory that is Smashing Pumpkins, to me their songs hold way more meaning than The Beatles songs.

@Haushinka1000Hours Well, yeah, The Smashing Pumpkins have made so many great songs that people overlook it actually makes me sick. They are still making good music, I really like a lot of the stuff they've did sense the reunion, and I've liked a lot of the stuff The Smashing Pumpkins Jimmy Chamberlain. Tom Tom, Freak, Song For A Son, Spangled, Cottonwood Symphony, and The Fellowship are officially right up there with the classics in my opinion.
@RubHerSoul1 Unlike the Beatles who had plenty of time to learn how to perfect a song THEY CREATED live, I'm sure the well renowned team of The Smashing Pumpkins and Chris Isaak practiced this song way less.
@Haushinka1000Hours Uh...the Beatles had time to perfect a song?? I don't think so. They put out 3 lps a year, not to mention double A-sided singles and constant world tours up until '66 when they wrote this song. These two hacks haven't done shit in what, 10-15 years? And they didn't take the time to practice? Real pros, I'd say. BTW, what was your argument again? There is no substitute for practice. this video proves that in spades.
@RubHerSoul1 Um, actually yeah, if you want to call the Beatles any kind of band that's half witted then yeah they PERFECTED THEIR OWN SONG BEFORE RELEASING IT. What, did you think they just wrote four chords with bullshit and threw it on an lp? Because that's what you're implying, which makes the Beatles hacks. If they were to come out any time after 1970 nobody would have given a flying fuck LOL whereas SP was a band with some lyrical talent that amounted to actual in depth songs other than a
@Haushinka1000Hours Also just to let you know, Jimmy Chamberlain is has more talented turds than Ringo Starr, and Billy Corgan has more talent in his spit than Paul McCartney has had in the last 40 years as a lyricist and song writer and he is a much better guitarist than George Harrison could beg to be.

@sgtpep5 You're correct; this cover is a disgrace. Natalie Merchant's is decent enough, but this is crap!
