Only people that have never been to a music festival could complain about the people clapping and singing along. Anyone that's been in one (like Bonnaroo) knows what an amazing thing it is to join in with the band and another 100,000 people in the emotion of the song.
@FALLOUTMOD4321 The reason they have this much ads is because Youtube has grown over these last few years and they need to improve their servers so they can fit more videos and also make their servers more stable. But I guess morons like you will never understand that.. :/
@LoGiK215 you forgot to throw in a RIP General RAAM, the true locust leader. Not like scourge or the queen. Scourge could have been cool but he was too easy to fight
@IrishConrad you've never been to Bonnaroo before, have you? It is not just a music festival for the state of Tennessee. In fact, many states and cultures are represented there. Ignoramus.
I think everyone who asks why they the crowd had to ruin the song by clapping does not understand the musical festival this was performed at. Within a minute of getting out of your vehicle and setting up your tent people will walk into your camp trying to sell you any drug you can think of. Bonnaroo is partly about the music and partly about the drugs and about the crowd experience for most people. If you want a "better" version there's a live one in a concert hall I believe.
it didn't have any shooting... it was this quiet, strong realization that they might never see the surface again, before they go in. it goes soo perfectly, i love it
@dylanmcdonald95 it really does match perfectly with the Gears theme, the whole last ditch effort to save the last vestiges of humanity and knowing that they are sacrificing themselves in the hopes that other's might live fit's well with the song
okay first of all great song, but for some reason when idiots come together to form an audience they come to the strange conclusion that they must clap...and sometimes thats okay but this is supposed to be a quiet strong song, and they ruin the mood, they quiet down but then theres still people wooing lol fuckin a.
I don't think is the song to clap to this song should be played in an absolutely silent environment with a spotlight on the singer to capture the emotion. The clapping and singing along ruins it.
@Derangedminor I think it makes the artist feel better when everyone sings along and claps to their music. I mean I would feel special, and have you ever been to a show where everyone sings along? It feels great!
@Derangedminor It's bonaroo, you don't act like a depressed weepy individual at bonaroo, not to mention life doesn't have to be sad, life should be one huge party.
@Derangedminor Never been to Bonnaroo. Who wants a silent audience at a live show?
Go to Bonnaroo. Watch Devotchka live. Then try to be sad and silent while they play such an awesome song. Not possible. One of the best shows I saw while I was there and the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd helped make it that way.
This song is even more amazing live, if I can judge from this video. It's already so powerful on the studio recording, I didn't think it could get much more amazing, but then I watched this...
This song represents the inner knowing that we will all die. It is basically the summary of all life. However it can mead something different to anyone as totoms put it.
correction, i like to belive that this song is about a suicide mission, but no one wants to belive that it is. But, they already know how it will end :D

I'm loving all the musical elitists coming out of the wood-work with the age old claim "I liked them before you lot did" as is the problem with DeVotchKa fans and people who have seen this on the advert. Now personally, I enjoy music and this track is one of the best I've heard in quite awhile but funnily enough I discovered it through to GOW2 advert. Why is there such bitterness towards that? Just get on with supporting the band in your own way, irregardless to how others do
It makes me kind of angry that there are now a ton of people watching this just because of some crappy advert that doesn't even capture the meaning of the song. I mean, it's nice that they're getting some vague recognition, but dear god, please, not this way. Now there's just going to be a bunch of video game freaks who claim to be fans of DeVotchKa.
i dont have an xbox or the game, i love the trailer though just because of the song because i watch tv. yea its been used in an ad for the game, but how is hearing the song in the ad, looking for it, listening to other songs by the band and realising you like them any different to going to a friends house, hearing it, looking it up, listening to other songs by the band and realising you like em?
you shouldnt be angry you should be glad that more people experience what you are and have been
at least its exposure though. its how i heard it and then came on here to find it. i listen to a lot of different styles of music and when you get busy sometimes mainstream is a good way to at least get noticed and then people like me can come on here and see all that they have to offer. i can appreciate what your saying but i'm sure that the band is glad to just get out there to a new audience. pseudo fans will always exist regardless of how popular something gets.
I'm not sure why YOU would give a rats ass who listen's to what and why, Devotchka is tickled pink that people are listening no matter how they found out, their CD sales probably went through the roof due to the song being on a commercial, CAPTURE THE MEANING, you have to be kidding me, you would have to have the IQ of, well you, to not CAPTURE THE MEANING, and did YOU write the song yourself, maybe if you got laid now and again you wouldn't be so angry, your a sad little cookie
